If it happened regularly it might but if it only happened a few times it is unlikely to change instinct... even if the snake was left there till the next day I doubt the Meerkats would react as though it were fake.
Meerkats play fight to learn hunting and fighting behaviors. If anything, this was a good training situation. They got to practice all the right behaviors with none of the risk. Some may be more confident in the future, but that’s easily balanced out by the increase in experience (especially the younger ones getting drilled on mob behaviors).

I just wanted to get across that this is not a useless profession. This is a profession that is generally, completely and utterly useless for society, but costs the society a lot more money in the end.
