The new rallying cry for whenever Tony is just done "Avengers Disassemble!" Next thing you know, Thor flies off to the magic jacuzzi, Iron Man is chilling with his armors, Hawkeye and Black Widow sneak off to Budapest to do something, etc... :)

I still find it funny that Tony was all for disbanding the Avengers or letting someone else take over yet he gave the Young Avengers so much shit. Poor kids.
The genius of Marvel in that era was it's soap opera techniques. Monica is my Captain Marvel and I'm glad to see her get some credit.
It's why that era was my favorite I like the slow burn that humanized the characters. These days its just reboot and events
My goals watching every Sasha's video:
1. Try to guess which wig she'll be wearing (I mean, I always get surprised by the wigs, she rocks all of them)
2. Wait for “why don’t we disband while we have the chance?”

Honestly, in poor ol’ ShellHead’s defense, when he made that disband comment it makes sense; he was going through a bunch a trouble in his own story in Tales of Suspense (including an impending legal hearing) and also there was the whole heart trauma issue and him thinking he was gonna die... 😭 I love that metal-clad fool too much not to say anything, lol...
Discovering this channel was one of the highlights of the past few months for me and I love the range of topics and characters that are discussed. As someone who is still relatively new to comics I’ve enjoyed following along and learning. Great work! 👍🏽
Surely "Evil Reed" is kind of a redundant statement? All Reeds are evil, it's just a matter of degree!
Also, Hawkeye in one issue of Avengers featuring the 'Lady Liberators' had some...choice comments.

Knowing if Monica was introduced around today, so many Internet lurkers would feel like Hawkeye. Sometimes we forget howfast comics moved then, and how prominent she was, until they abruptly sidelined her for a while.

What's even weirder is that the people who would come to her defense would be a bunch of Right-wingers! This cultural shift we're going through is tying my brain into knots.
If Monica was new... Oof they wouldn't do her justice with all the events we wouldn't get none of this street-level stuff. She would fresh from cop to fighting something like Null. Hell, they might not even make her a cop thinking it about it.

Thanks for another video showcasing Monica. Still, nothing in her dialogue indicated Monica would have a pronounced accent. I feel Monica's story picks up when John Buscema takes over as artist. I appreciate how normal, and well-adjusted Monica's origin was, compared to other heroes.

She seems fairly sidelined. I'm curious how the MCU will breathe new life into Monica in the comics.
Marvel was pretty progressive in the 80s, but it reversed this in the 90s.
I think it’s good idea but they shouldn’t make her as powerful as they did in the comics because it’s so jarring with captain marvel.
@@River-pg1uk Like Thanos in the comics vs MCU. Definitely needs to be toned down. Perhaps keep her at the level of absorbing, redirecting, or mimicking energy. Nothing about her turning into living energy herself.

@@River-pg1uk I think there can be a space for OP characters, you just have to use them right. I imagine Marvel is trying to build The Ultimates. Where they will form a team in space and take care of problems offworld. When you think of whats still in Space, you need OP characters like Wanda and Monica. Don't forget, they have all been defeated multiple times in the comics. I just think they shouldn't live on earth. The Shiar Empire has Gladiator, he would wreck Captain Marvel.

I'd be very interested in seeing you cover the tale of Hank Pym and his mental descent. I grew up with tons of the classic Avengers comics, and all I ever hear of Pym (who became my favorite Marvel hero because of those issues) is how nobody should like him because of that panel you mentioned where he hit Janet. I know he's had mental problems before, especially because of the classic issues I have going over his transformation into Yellowjacket. But I'd love to know more about what truly lead him to that point, and to find out more if my beloved founding Avenger is truly as bad as he's often portrayed.
Hank Pym is a really compelling character with a lot of pathos & humanity. He strives for excellence but is often his own worst enemy
Well, at least we know they'll never go that way with the movie universe. Instead they stuck the Wasp in the Microverse for 20 years.

First let me apologize, I thought I subscribed a while back.
Second, can you do a recap of Monica Captain Marvel 1 Shot? I am interested in hearing your thoughts of how they de-powered her that issue. At the time it came out a lot of us were upset that they (comic book companies) had reduced the powers of yet another Black hero. Marvel really did a job on her.

Monica's powers made her unusable within a story essentially she had the ability to come and go so quickly serving the same functions light switch.

Not only was Monica added to the avengers quickly Cap.Mavel(Monica Rambeau) also led the Avengers for a time in the 80's. I had zero problems with either. Idk Hawkeye's problem mabe he was simply jealous if that's the case why join a team with amazing beings. With fantastic ability's and powers?

My take away from this, they reluctantly made spidey a reserve member down the line so he would stop breaking into headquarters and bothering teams like he did the FF as well. He even annoys the xmen to the point they just make him a teacher.

I do like the soap opera stories in this. I do wanna collect and read this era of the Avengers. Seems dramatic but intresting.
The southern accent was on fleek. People sometimes forget she was from Louisiana.
My introduction to Monica Rambeau was Nextwave. I felt like her catch-phrase was "I used to lead the Avengers". Hahaha. She definitely seemed the most sane and stable person in the Nextwave team. She is awesome and I'm excited to see her in the MCU.

I love Monica, and I don’t particularly think that her changing her name from Captain Marvel to Photon was such a big deal (it was written as her choice after all, and Photon or Spectrum are both more fitting). I just wish she still got the amount of attention she used to. Hopefully being included in the MCU now is the catalyst to reinvigorate her comics status.
I was reading the Avengers and Spidey when Monica was introduced. I liked her character right away, and it was exciting to see the introduction of a new hero. One of her comics I remember the most was her, Dr. Strange, Scarlet Witch, and some other dude fighting Dracula--who was trying to take over Avengers' mansion. Fun times. :)

Youre a bit early. That was in the later 80s, when he joined the West Coast Avengers and tried to rebrand himslef as "Doctor Pym". It didnt stick, like most things with poor Hank Pym.

I was a kid reading The Avengers when Monica debuted. She has always been the first character I associate with the name "Captain Marvel." I will always love her and am excited about her coming into the MCU.
I also hope they give Rogue a comic accurate origin when she enters the MCU, but that is a different issue involving some imposter using Monica's hero name.
