    I don’t get why John Byrne was so hung up on Vision being “just a machine” and not a person. Vision’s first story ends by telling us that “even an android can cry!” The wealth of deep, heartfelt emotions beneath a stoic, mechanical facade is the entire point of the character!

    • @pedrovallefin8406
      @pedrovallefin8406 3 года назад +4

      Right? I dont really get why but there seems to be more that a couple of people set of making Vision lest of a human and more of a robot, insisting of it in something as recent as his solo series (where Vision yet again falls to understand how to be human). Its weird and sorta unnecesary but at the very least they, both Byrne and King, did something interesting with it. And they both have the self-awareness to know that the only way it would make sense its by setting up a situation where he ends up being more robotic. Actually, now that i think about it, theyre both prety similar. Byrne rebuild him without the emotional connection to his memories (and without the "brain waves" that allow him those emotions in the first place), and King make a situation where he have to disconect himself from the emotions of his memories, geneating a longing for those lost feelings that lead him to build himself a new family to remenber what it feel like. It would say King made the better work, not only cause he did a more rounded storyline, but in the end he undertood that theres a heart beneath the synthetics.

    • @johnmobley9369
      @johnmobley9369 Год назад

      Just because life didn’t breathe into vision in the traditional sense, just because it’s synthetic doesn’t invalidate his experience mean that he can’t love Wanda. It almost seems like he was trying his best to literally unravel all the nuances in the story beats that made a vision vision. Try and tell me he can’t love Wanda?? Why?

    I'd say for Hawkeye one must have cover is Avengers 223, which features the iconic image of him aiming an arrow with Ant-Man on the tip that got used in Earth's Mightiest Heroes, MCU Civil War, and the Marvel vs Capcom games as one of his ultimates. I'd also Include one of the covers from his 1983 first solo min-series (I'd go either 1 or 3, but 4 is a cool cover as well, it just might not work super great as a celebration). That mini-series is actually really good and not enough people that about it, it introduced Hawkeye to Mockingbird and gave him one of his most well known villains. Also it featured the Silencer, a rad villain with a cool gimmick who sadly has never come back. JUSTICE FOR SILENCER!

      @@Freefall347 I dont know who was writing each series at the time, but im convinced they made a backstage deal about Rick. The writer of Caps book didnt wanted Rick as a sidekick anymore, and the writer of Mar-Vells book needed someone to complete the character new status quo, to be his "Billy Batson". They eventually realiced their problems were each other solutions, and set up the most contrived and bizarre scenario for both things to happen in one issue with a sort-of-kinda-not-really crossover.

    My favorite Captain America cover is also my favorite Wolverine cover. I'm talking about Uncanny X-Men 268, one of the greatest covers of all time. It is one of Jim Lee's finest pieces. Gots to go with my man Wolvie as far as the classic covers go, and it would be awesome if you'd do a breakdown of the two Wolverine vs. Hulk encounters mentioned. I’m gonna have to say a hard no for iconic imagery for the watches. For Cap, you nailed his milestone moment. Avengers 4 . Cap v Iron Man a close second. Though there’s Capt. America 100. Or the Bi-Centennial issue.
    Wolverine’s is good, as it says REMATCH, BUB!!! But still 2nd to his debut issue. Whiskers. It’s the whiskers.
    Side note. Where I’m from, we have lots of Wolverines too. Even named a sports team. But we have more Badgers. No one wants to know, and we don’t talk about it, ‘cause Badger. Yeah Badger. Also, we’d brag about our winters, but Canadian winters, despite other things going on, make us look like pikers. Just ridiculous ammeters. So there’s that.
    For me, Hawkeye’s best cover was when he didn’t even appear as Hawkeye, but as Gold Arrow. He was attacking Steve Rodgers to convince him to still be a hero, even if he wasn’t going to be Fancy Pants, er, Cap anymore.
    Speaking of pants, remember when Hawkeye sported NO PANTS!?!! No mask, but a headband, and a grey and purple tunic. Very breathy on the bits. Following that, as Goliath, pants and mask, but shirtless with a studded chest strap. Face it. He doesn’t respect super-fashion. This is why pre-Disassembled Wasp made him her boy-toy. And all of his covers are just the runner-up versions. No fashion, no respect. Oddly, Kitty Pride could not be reached for comment….
    Even where I’m from, winter or summer, I expect a bit more from my Iconography. I’ll bet even your summers are better too. Dag-nabbit.

    Did you know that Cap is the most important character in the Marvel Universe. In Marvel 1602, it is explained by Uatu that Cap is a universal mark of the dawn of the age of heroes. If he moves back in time the age of heroes follow. So if Cap is sent back to 200 BCE and stays there for a long time, heroes such as The Fantastic Four and Spiderman will appear a few years after Caps arrival. Also for any of you commenting that 1602 is an out of continuity story, that's not true. The 1602 universe was the main marvel universe until the heroes reset the timeline. After the reset the head of the Watchers gave Uatu a small pocket universe which was a duplicate to 1602 so Uatu could continue observing a strange and new form of reality.

Later, with the Dan Ketch Ghost Rider IV era, Johnny was brought back as Ghost Rider, but now he was a Dan Ketch knock-off (penance stare, hellfire imbuement) instead of having his original power suite (hellfire blast, hellfire constructs). Was there an in-universe explanation about how this happened?

    Chameleon and Kraven working together was semi standard since Chameleon introduced Kracen to the Marvel universe by asking him to hunt Spider-man. Also, we later learn they are half-brothers

    I know this is a video about Marvel, but have you ever heard about Scribblenauts Unmasked? It was this strange fusion between a word game where you can summon things through writing words, and DC, so you could write DC characters. Anyways, what's important is that I believe it got a few(?) tie-in comics, and I don't think I've ever heard of anyone discuss or talk about them before.

    My favorite is the hulk wolverine one, but I’m a huge fan of that run and characters in general
    Don’t worry Sasha, I as well can never get enough of Werewolf Cap. I’m still waiting for marvel zombies versus werewolf Captain America

      Must it be only Cap Werewolf? Imagine "Marvel Zombies vs Marvel Werewolfs". The zombies invading a universe where everyone is a werewolf. Honesty, i dont know how this has never been made before.

    Wolverine really got screwed in the cover selection... none from one of his own series or the team that made him famous? I would have gone with iconic imagery over issues that need their importance to be mansplained. The Hulk 340, yes.. but I'd like Xmen 251, and probably something from Frank Miller's limited series. Hawkeye also has some great covers in Solo Avengers and his pre-WCA limited series.
    Oh, and if you're looking for bizarre mainstream comics, I would recommend checking out the Hulk/Thing Marvel Graphic Novel "The Big Change" (available in the Fantastic Four Epic Collection #18).

    Sure, our real life Canada has more weather than just winter, but maybe the Marvel version of Canada is just continual winter, like beyond the wall in Westeros.

    I don't know if it's synchronicity or the power of the algorithm; on Friday I watched an "Avengers" reaction on 1 of my favorite movie reaction channels. Someone in the comments mentioned what was Hawkeye's comicbook origin. They thought he was in the Circus of Crime, I told them what really happened, and recommended they watch Casually Comics for that type of information. Three days later, here it is!!!

    There's a Captain America Annual from the late 80s where he fights Wolverine and only just not do I find out, thanks to your vid, that it's cover was modeled after that first Cap. Vs. Iron Man cover.

    I know it's far too recent to be considered a classic cover, but Hawkeye would win for me if the pizza dog cover from issue 11 of the Fraction run was on the band.

    I'm honestly stuck on that Rick Jones soft rock album cover. How many songs did he spend pining over Hulk and Cap, and how did it lead to his weird synth/techno album chronicling his tortured relationship with Genis Vell?
