Yes, both Eddie Murphy breaking the 4th wall and Jamie Lee Curtis' body were epic. A really fun flick.
Fun fact: Don Ameche, who played Mortimer Duke, really didn't like to curse. So when they were about to shoot the scene where he screams "Fuck him!", he actually apologized beforehand to the entire cast and crew on the set, and did the scene in one take. A true professional.

    • @TheChrisPineWorkshop

Don Ameche was a real gentleman and did _not_ want to use the N-word or even the F-word, they had to convince him to do both. The first by having Eddie persuade him that it was ok in these circumstances and the second only by promising to only do one take.
It is also worth noting that this movie actually caused a change in the laws on trading to prevent what we saw in the climax actually occurring. It is even called the Eddie Murphy law.

Just a note about the Salvation Army Kettle scene, having a band play at kettles normally happens in bigger cites and the surrounding areas. This is because bigger churches/corps will get more volunteers and workers. It's a lot easier to stand in the cold with a group of people than by yourself. They may also forgo the bell for music if they are indoors, like a mall. It really depends on the corps officers and the volunteers!

The thing about Billy ray is that the showed him the basics and he applied his street hustle to it, goes like this the stock market is CUT THROAT, just like hustling in the streets or small business. They used insider trading tactics which is illegal, but it was vice versa thing. I mean, stock brokers commit suicide at times, it's that serious, as Louis said, but also it showed Louis could not handle being broke and rock bottom. The film made fun of class and race issues without minimizing it. Classic.

      Not exactly.
What they did in this movie is actually insider trading and possibly fraud. Both are very real crimes. Shorting stocks isn't illegal, but very risky and ill advised. The recent crisis was entirely due to unexpected players in the form of thousands of "regular people" working together to do what hedge fund managers have done for years, artificially increasing the value of Gamestop/AMC/ect. to turn a quick profit.

A few points of interest that may have already been mentioned:
    1. One of the inmates in the jail scene is a young Giancarlo Esposito (AKA Gus Fring) from "Breaking Bad/Better Call saul"
    2. The inmate who kept threatening Eddie in Jail was Ron Taylor, AKA Bleeding Gums Murphy from the early seasons of The Simpsons
    3. The Duke's stockbroker near the end was Richard Hunt; aka Scooter from The Muppets
    4. It's OK if you didn't get the Stock Exchange scene; all that mattered was the good guys won (and also Insider Trading rules got changed because of this movie)
    5. There used to be a steakhouse in Philadelphia called "Winthorpe & Valentine's"; sadly, now closed due to COVID

also if you look closely when Eddie Murphy gets out of jail you can spot the director John Landis next to three men in trench coats holding a briefcase with his back to Eddie Murphy

the scene where the Dukes bail out Eddie.....it was very cold that day, and the actors who played the Dukes had the day off of filming. But they still came in and did the scene with Eddie because they liked him so much. Eddie also said that his trailer was in between Ralph and Don's trailers, and that they would tell him stories about old Hollywood. They looked out for Eddie on set, and Eddie still gives them so much credit for the film being a success.
