That rerelease of Emperor Palpatine w/ throne is so excellent. Of course I already have it, but to know that fellow collectors will get a chance at what so many people consider a grail...just so good. Try putting the black series cape on the Obi Wan Vader. You'll have to wedge it OVER the neck of the helmet, but once you got it in there, it looks amazing.
Great breakdown of SHF changes. I'm curious what Vader will come with in place of damaged parts. Maybe the torture droid?

It’s not just Vader’s cape and under robe flow over/under armor that changes from ANH to ESB/ROTJ, but his chest box and button layout also changes. It’s amazing to me how all toy companies have screwed that up over the years mismatching the wrong robe flow and chest box.
I think he was talking about the rogue one and episode 4 vaders. They are pretty much the same armor and everything except for the robes being on top

This is the exact video I was hoping you would make, I'm a Figuarts and mafax junkie, and I really wanted someone to over these pictures. They've made enough slight improvements , that I'm on the fence on all of these figures as well. I will probably land on a few stormtroopers and at least a metalized C3PO.

The droid 3-pack is for me, baby! I still haven't gotten the single release Super Battle Droid but I need an army of these things, and variety is always nice!
The Palpatine reissue is nice, but I got the archive release a few months back and it's fine. If I need a new Palpatine, I'm getting the recently announced one. Some Black Series figures just hold up really well, like the Empire Strikes Back Vader, which is still my go=to Vader. The imports just aren't big enough an upgrade to get rid of him, he's beautiful.

I swear that Emperor Throne was on sale on Amazon for awhile which made it that much more shocking when the price jumped after they were gone. I was kicking myself for not picking up one and went the 3d printed throne route instead.
I just finished building the Bandai Threepio kit a couple weeks ago, so of course they'd offer a pure vac metal reissue of the SHF figure now, lol.
for SHF, def excited to get another trooper. a great figure also variants are always appreciated to emulate the hand made armor variations of the OT films. Vader i need to see more. cape looks bulky and helmet might not be ANH accurate, agree it is probably obi wan TV. 3P0 will probably get for the new finish. And r2 is one of my favorite toys ever so I might just get a second to keep on my desk. Slight weathering variation is good.

Great breakdown! As an SHF completionist I’ll be getting all 4 am hoping the 3P0 is vac sealed similar to the SHF Meta Cooler that they released. The grey on the new hope vaders chest armour also looks duller compared to the Kenobi release as well lol.

Hopefully they fix the QC issues with the Magnaguard by the time they (hopefully) release an Episode III version with blue paint for the 20th Anniversary next year

I bought extra BS 40th ANH vaders just to get extras of that wonderful “drapey” cape it came with. I use that cape on my Figuarts.
You had me at bandai until I realized it wasn’t model kits… I really wish they’d re-release the whole line of droid model kits. In my opinion they are the correct scale especially the astromechs. Props to hasbro for trying to fix the astromechs scale but for me the Bandai model kits are where it’s at!
I actually found an R2/BB8 model kit at Hobby Lobby last week but the box was taped shut all weird and there was no price tag. I should have checked but I was running late, need to go back by and see if it's still there.

Nope, this is my wheelhouse and enjoyed this information though I will pass on all. For me, I am fine with my SHF R2 and my shiny Bandai model kit 3PO. The newest Stormy is crisp and delicious as you say and interesting they are rereleasing with green lenses. My Hasbro Anniversary Vader is still just fine and looks great on my shelf. Keep up the good work.

Honestly I was super happy with the magna guard release. The shoulders were a little weird but I love it
So I walked into my local GameStop and I was pacing back and forth thinking if I should ask about the duel of the fates 3 pack...so I asked and he found that it would release in October...I let out a big sigh of relief...there was no figures on the shelves and the guy working was just about to pull out inventory to fill up the shelves...I turned around to leave and he told me that I can preorder it there...while he was going through his pitch...I was thinking if I should or shouldn't...last month I bought the caveman Batman and Robin...and I was on the hunt and still am for the platinum chase Batgirl that came in that wave...and the other day I bought the caveman Mr freeze and got the black and white Mr freeze that also came in that line...also the other day i finally got jada toys evil ryu...just need player 2 grey ryu and wait for the last 2 when I drops here in jersey...not to mention the fury/rage toys NOT tmnt that i "had" to get...I almost had a nervous break down in front of the gamestop guy...so i left...after preorder the damned 3 pack...lol

I was up at 3 AM so I went ahead and preordered the three pack. I like the droids. These guys become part of my Hondo pirate crew. Hasbro refuses to make the traditional aliens associated with pirates so I just build his crew with what I like color wise. Man I want more Black Series Jabba denizens. Momaw Nadon is a nice step in the direction I want.
I somehow completely missed the current re-issue of SHF Darth Maul with the soft goods cloak. If you covered it, I missed it. After realizing its sold out everywhere I looked, I reached out to Anime Export and fortunately they had one they could ship me. Came in today… the cloak alone is worth the price. It’s literally cjesim level. Hood is wired perfectly, stitching is tight and small, and the material is of excellent quality. Stunned.
I can't wait for your reviews of all of these figures after you buy them.

Always good to hear about reissues, especially when they improve their past issues. Do you think the Palpatine with throne is more worth getting than the recently announced ROTS Sidious? They both look pretty good.

Ive yet to find my perfect vader. From reviews, Im between the R1 Mafex and Shf Obi Wan. Mafex having the translucent lenses and size is a real selling point for me. I really like the fabric tunic on the SHF. My preference would be under the armor instead of over that the reissue is doing

Funny you mentioned that something was just off with the older stormtrooper helmet. A friend of mine took a class, and the stormtroopers were a near unanimous pick. All costumes were great, but those damned helmets were a pain to nail down.

I agree with you about the Figuarts Kenobi version of Vader. That stock cape is trash. I replaced mine with an OT Customs wired cape that's gone from shelf Vader to shelf Vader (I'll need a new one soon, I'm sure). It's wired, but still lays nicely on the shoulder armor.
I also used a bit of blue tack to bring the helmet up a bit. The bottom of the neck shouldn't be under the shoulder armor, it should be in line or slightly above. Elevates (pardon the pun) the figure to phenomenal.
The last emperor release didn't sell out fast, it ended up on sale eventually.

I put the 40th a new hope anniversary black series vader cape on the sh figuarts kenobi series vader (damnnnn that was a long sentence hahaha), and it looks great. Best 1/12 Vader in my opinion with that change (empire strikes back black series being a close second for me).
Hell I'm still looking for a mandalorian or return of the Jedi r2d2 cheaper than $40 I've had both pre-ordered from BBTS since they both went up and they still haven't shipped!
Hopefully the Bandai r2 fallows the figuarts trend of re-issues being cheaper because I'm also not able to find that one cheaper than $120 and it's not worth it!
For me it's probably gonna depend on what's new with the four re issues because with r2 & vader I can't really see a difference from the Kenobi & new hope verison. And I'm not sure what the new vader is gonna get pack with that the Kenobi Vader didn't already have to justify buying it again. Because I thought the Kenob Vader was the perfect Vader that i'm not sure I need another one. The new storm trooper I'm definitely getting just to army build & c3po is probably a lock just based on the new paint job. That being said I wouldn't be surprise if I end up buying all four because I couldn't help myself like with the new figuarts Darth maul because he came with a new cloth cloak lightsaber parts & his speeder droid I missed out on. I'm also baffled on why they didn't just add a new hope Chewbacca to these re issues because he's way expensive on the after market for just a standard release & a lot of people missed out on him. Or why didn't they take the time to take the shiny gold off every luke's hair that is so divisive.

Yeah, it's a "reissue" of the Obi-Wan Vader except with the inner robes over the shoulder armor to make it more A New Hope.
