      This whole us hvac gear is wild...."hey joe, lets take equipment that is exposed to automotive/heavy industrial environments (heat, humidity, cold, severe dirt) and design it like a cheap microwave oven" Mechanical timers in a sandstorm, cabinet style VFDs exposed to dripping water, open motors in the rain, open pcbs where ice can form, belt drives everywhere. Using weirdo modern belts that wear out sheaves in no time. One of the big automakers should open an HVAC division. They know how to design systems that last in a wet, hot, dirty environment. Like, it aint hard. Electronics go below the roof and get cooled by the output airstream or get properly designed enclosures, sheaves get made from a high wear resistance material. Motors, heh, just order European style motors with full IP rating. Solved. While we are at it. Get rid of belt drives where direct drive is possible. If fans get banged up all the time, the sheet metal is too thin. Why are there no shock mounts to absorb vibration. What is this garbage. None of those changes are expensive or difficult.

    I spotted those bubbles before you cut! That Schrader port location loves to leak on Bohn coils too and is usually completely blown out just the same when it fails. I have never gotten an answer on why it's that exact location of the core seal that is prone to completely blowing out. My best guess is it's the constant change of pressures from low to medium paired with vibration. My only other guess would be certain core seals were made with made with a material that breaks down when it comes in to contact with a refrigerant oil.

Its started to not cool anymore, best reading was 10 degrees celcius. the fans are running fine, the coils inside and outside are clean and not full of dirt, dust etc. the compressor sounds like its running fine (normally) only its just constantly running. obviously you cant diagnosis on the internet but by the sounds of what its doing, is it likely a coolant leak somewherE?

    • @johnriff85
      @johnriff85 Год назад

      @@randomrazr it really does sound like a leak somewhere. If you aren't hitting setpoint and shutting off with good refrigerant levels you'll ice up the coil. If you have low refrigerant levels then it just runs a lot and doesn't shut off because the thermostat can't satisfy. You'll want to empty it and unplug the unit as the compressor relies on that refrigerant to cool the internal components. Call a technician out to verify there is a leak. Depending on the age and condition of the unit don't be surprised if you are told it can be fixed but should be replaced. A new unit can go for approximately $1,500 USD to $3,500 USD. It all depends on what your needs are. I hope this helps!

    Love the video have you ever considered buying a used bucket truck they can lift like 1k pounds instead of renting cranes like you have in the past?

    • @Nighthawke70
      @Nighthawke70 Год назад +2

      Buckit trucks are money pits, period. First, they are man-rated, not freight. Most are rated to lift 500lbs human, and are not equipped to handle freight. Plus most locations are not set up where a buckit truck can get in close enough to permit heavy lifts, or lifts at all. He is very rarely needed to hoist bulky materials like this swamp cooler, infrequently fan motors and compressors, and once in a blue moon, a package unit that would be overweight for a buckit truck. So the bottom line that truck would be sitting at the shop more often than being out in the field. And when they need it, guess what? It's broken.

    • @throttlebottle5906
      @throttlebottle5906 Год назад +2

      yeah too much velocity, pressure and exhaust flow is in pulses, so it just blows it away and will not bubble at all.
      you'll have much better luck with engine not running, then spray/brush everything while using very low pressure shop air in the tail pipe, letting it mostly leak out through a rag holding the hose in, maybe even feed it in through a tee fitting too keep pressure minimal. yes of course you could also use a smoke machine with smoke on or off and soap bubbles, but again tiny pressure and no velocity!

    Your right with P.O.E. and moisture controversy, but your freinds at Sporlan sort of ended it. Sporlans dryers WILL remove moisture from P.O.E., the issue is will the vacuum pump? Many many variables come into play if it will remove it, so that "depends". If you have a moisture issue they stated let it run a day then change out dryer. Level's will then be acceptable.

    • @throttlebottle5906

      problem is, POE can hold far more moisture than a single small dryer can remove, keep the stuff sealed up as mush as possible.
