I love how you can figure out these complex refrigeration systems but cannot figure out teflon tape and dope. Keep up the good work, I enjoy these videos.
Hope you get through the storm all right, bud! I'm also living in the spacecoast, though I'm out of town right now, by sheer coincidence. Just crossing my fingers that my battery backup keeps my chest freezer chooching through any power outages.
I've been building dry filament storage lately, so I've done a bit of research. Sodium hydroxide will take up a lot of moisture but doesn't get to really dry. I ended up with 3a molecular sieves and I think that's a good choice for drying ammonia as well.
Ok, done watching. Awesome build, as always! A few thoughts... • You could try freezing your ammonia distillation gas to about -20°C to remove a large percentage of the moisture, then run the remaining gas through NaOH or a zeolite filter. • I know if at least one company that uses an auto-cascade system as the 2nd and 3rd stages on a freezer designed to reach -105°C. They're super sweet. • If you need a high torque compressor, I'm salvaging a few from older -80°s that are being recycled. • I was curiously surprised to see you found a BPHE from Vevor! I will have to check those out! Keep up the awesome projects and videos!
Haven't even finished watching, and I already love the video! If you ever need some specialty refrigerants for your projects, feel free to reach out to me.
Yay, back to cold stuffs :) Polycold is famous in building autocascade systems, sometimes they have even 3 or 4-component refrigerant mix. Would it help to watercool the compressor? Also do you plan to go back to pulse-tube cryocoolers? :)
You gotta use teflon tape AND pipe dope both on your brass / copper fittings.. youll never have a leak.. trust me.. ask any plumber. Tape and ptfe pipe dope works..
Allright this is very cool. I have tangentially related questions. Could you increase the cooling power of an automotive vapor compression system with a normal cascade system. You of course would have it install a second compressor but that should be possible on larger vehicles. I would love to have superpowered ac in my vehicle.
I have this 0:26 system in my truck with my compressor style cooler where I turn on the air conditioner in my truck to cool off the air that's being heated up by the compressor style cooler, so that I can get it down to 15°F. Admittedly not as COOL as what you did.
Copper (II) Hydroxide is insoluble in water, so i would guess that it's tetra-amine copper hydroxide (fun fact: that stuff can dissolve cellulose! and because of that it's important for making rayon)
the uncanny ability to identify the problem and then solve the problem is scary. don't ever become evil or we're in trouble. fantastic work as always
To balance this - please become evil, I would love to be your minion.
Baaaaabe, youtube fridge guy is back
I love how you can figure out these complex refrigeration systems but cannot figure out teflon tape and dope. Keep up the good work, I enjoy these videos.
You got me started messing with refrigeration... Congrats! I'm now hoarding compressors and coils from people's garbage like a totally sane person
The quest for the perfect Margarita chiller continues😎

babe wake up hes making another refrigerator
Actually it's multiple refrigerators per video now 🤩
I died lol. Too accurate
Dude on his way to become Frozone

yes, a good reason to procrastinate temporary regeneration of the brain! exactly what one needs at 2 am
15 minutes for my favorite heat pump autist
This released at 1am for me
you'll be fiiiiiine
2 am here in venice
8:30 in the morning for me
I never thought I’d see a resonance cascade, let alone create one!
12:25 The blue color isn’t from sodium amide, it’s from free solvated electrons!
I dont have a clue what he's talking about but I sure as hell like watching.

I audible said "that's really cool" like five times throughout the video.
My fellow Florida man! Please be safe right now 😭
That spirit joke at the end of the video was gold
Use shaved sodium metal chips as a dryer. NurdRage has a video up showing how to make sodium metal in bulk for cheap.
no idea what I'm watching and I think the scope of making a cheap liquid nitrogen generator has long been surpassed but I'm here for it 1000%
Refrigeration will continue until morale improves!
Hell yeah, this series is awesome ❤
You should make a playlist of your videos called "how to bootstrap civilization with a jumbo beach ball."
And people say refrigerators are boring
I tought the same thing
Nah, drills are boring. Refrigerators are cooling.
@@AiOinc1 As a crane operator, I'm picking up what you're putting down
hell yeah watching refrigeration video at 2am i love you man 💜
Dr. Cold in action again 💪
Awesome work my dude!
HE IS BACK!!! AND HE IS COOLER 🗣🗣🗣
Very high quality videos!
i was just refreshing your channel thinking well it's about time :)
To seal the fittings try soft solder on the face 5:00
3:10, Sounds like the next project is a loop that also cools the refrigerant pump.
Could also add a cooling head to the top of the compressor basically just uses magnets and a sprayer to flow water over the compressor basically
I liked before watching.
You are right up there with AvE to me!! Dude, make some shirts or something you PLEB!!!!!
You know, doc emmet brown was into this kind of stuff, and look where he is now
Nice work.
GOD YES A NEW VID!! (i love u)
Love this channel !
Careful with that loose ammonia. Once the tweakers catch a wiff, it's like trying to get rid of a stray cat after feeding it once.
Haven't even finished watching, and I already love the video! If you ever need some specialty refrigerants for your projects, feel free to reach out to me.
hyperspacepirate i would love to see you build a freeze drier
Another banger!!
Awesome, entertaining too!

Go refrigerator boy go!
Yay! Refrigerator Man!
Immediately clicked! ❤
great, thanks
i make this at work sometimes and you need pretty large drying towers full of hydroxide to really get it dry
Allright this is very cool.

He said 750 guatts.. or kwatts.. messed my brain up for a sec.. then my dog farted and gf smacked me for it. Im still processing…lol
ooh magic!

Nice
U have first
Epic !
wakeup honey, real life Dosh made video
Journey to 0K 😊
also stay safe
Freeze / Boil / solidify / Plasma guy !hello !!
You built a platypressor?
I am thinking it's time to enlist the help of the.compressor from a mini split. A good ol 18k BTU mini split only needs a 15A/240v circuit.
Copper (II) Hydroxide is insoluble in water, so i would guess that it's tetra-amine copper hydroxide (fun fact: that stuff can dissolve cellulose! and because of that it's important for making rayon)
new video lets goooo
WootWoot- Pirate Alert! Let me grab dinner…
when do we get one of those fancy laser coolers? :p
That was like a rocket engine
It's a bad day to be condensed ammonia gas
Frosty!
Auto-frozen-margaritas when?
How's it work out if you use a second compressor in the autocascade system?
When you make liquid oxygen you gotta make a liquid rocket
its 2am.. yeah i got time
YAY
How are you doing this in the middle of a hurricane?
Spirit airlines and spirit alcohol used here. Hmmmmm!
Noice
MAKE
THE
MARG
I bet you are thinking you shouldn't have pulled that compressor out of the plane while it was flying, huh?
