Hi. I am so jealous but I hope you know I mean that in a good way and to see someone brave enough, to live their dream as you have already started on your journey. I also watched the Nordhavn Atlantic crossing and also became hooked although sadly only an armchair sailor. It is fantastic to see yourselves and other Nordhavn channels also living the dream and sharing your experiences with those less brave enough to do the same. Looking forward to sharing the adventures you have to come👍
Hi neighbor! It was wonderful……. but we had to speed thru Canada cause of the border restrictions. We hope to go slower in fall when we head back. Hope to meet you someday. We watch your videos too!
Wow! This is very cool. I look forward to many years following your adventures and living vicariously thru you. I would have loved to do that trip with you. May 3 is my birthday and it would have been a happy birthday to me! Lol. Thank you and be safe.
Hello! I just found your channel. Great videos and a beautiful boat. We also have a havanese, a 4 year old female named Mia and I can’t be convinced that there is a better breed. Safe travels!
Love the dogs name. There was a well loved french man who played football in the English Premier league. Sylvain Distin. He’s retired now. He played for my club, Everton. A cult hero in England. But never made the french national team. It made me smile hearing the name though. He was well liked in my city. And I wondered if you supported Everton. 😂🤔 Or what the significance was. If any. My Dog is called Leonard. Means lion heart. I’m Spock. He’s Leonard (Nimoy) 🖖 He also has selective deafness. Can hear perfectly well if food is involved. Suddenly remembers commands. But other than that. He doesn’t do a thing I tell him. Anyway. Thanks for taking us with you. I enjoyed that.
Hello, love your videos, very inspirational. I’ve been feeling the Nordhavn bug beginning to bite me too. Getting ready to also retire. Can you share more about your Nordhavn 55, like year built, it’s cost, your boating experience and anything else that would help folks like me to take the plunge. Thanks.
I will try to add more…. Sometimes it is a challenge. Our N55 is a 2006. We paid similar to those on the market. Check out Nordhavn’s site and Nordhavnonly.com. My husband has been around boats all of his life but this was an upgrade from a Hewescraft 24’. It has been a learning curve but doable. We have come so far in a year! We will try to do a budget video at the end of this year. Once you get the bug…. It is difficult not to get a Nordhavn!
1:36 "The dog is not supposed to be on the bow of the boat". 17:07 "I do what I want..." 21:30 "I don't care for your rules, I need to check the anchor".
Yes, Distin basically has trained us. We are worried about her falling off. I guess other dogs get to go on the bow...... the Havanese breed is actually known for training their people.
A Rock on the Anchor? Did you try using the Wake & Squat while the boat was underway to clear the rock off the anchor fluke .? Such actions normally removes thick mud stuck on the Anchor, that cannot be usually washed away by the deck water
I think we have tried what you are asking.... we will drag the anchor in the water a bit to clear off mud and debris. This was a massive rock that was stuck on the anchor. Eric has developed a system to hook a rope around the loop on the anchor an lift it with the wench to get rid of big items. We later hooked an anchor to our anchor and he used the same method to release the anchor.
Another option is to let go the anchor to fall by gravity & then heave up . The method you used is quiet a tiring & time consuming process especially when it comes to big ships clearing a foul. Quiet frequently fishing ropes & long steel wires get entagled in the Anchor flukes/shank & I found the best is the drag method, keeping the part of the anchor that is entangled just on the water where the wake effect would be the maximum as the vessel moves & squarts, the rope/wire gets a Strong pull (depending on the headway) & tends to break free . Bon safe Yoyages.
Thanks so much for sharing your journey! Truly inspiring and enjoyable.
Thanks for watching!
What we saw, was three lovely people sharing with the world there wonderful trip. Thank you very much.
Richard

It truly was a leap of faith. There is a lot to learn and it keeps us very busy. I am so glad that you can experience a little of it through RUclips.
Such a beautiful trip! We’ve done it many times on our Nordhavn40, We just got back from a 31 day trip, through the inside passage too! 👍

That is so great that you found our channel! We absolutely love the Havanese breed. Distin is very special to us. Now we travel with her even easier.

Nice! Distin was named after my husband’s hunting lake on Admiralty Island. I thought it would be good for bonding. Thank you for watching our videos!

Excellent video, thank you. BTW just outside of Nanaimo BC it’s actually DODD Narrows not Dodds 🙂
Thank you! I am horrible with names but am learning through making videos.
What year is your vessel and hull #? 👍🏻
Havaseas is a 2006 vessel. It is hull number 20.
That's ok to work anywhere ok all you do is push buttons on a computer and don't produce anything except paper work
Actually, most of my work is interacting with other people…. I was a Human Resource Manager.
