Wow, i just watched the English version. "You must remember this, a kiss is just a kiss..." that song is replace by "Oifen pripitscik" Gevalt! I guess it works because it is a nostalgic song. Thanks for posting this.
That was hilarious! Oyfen Pripechik instead of As time goes by! I laughed so hard I almost plotzed! "Sam!Ich hub dich gezugt, shpil Cain mool nicht Dame lid!" Humphrey Bogart's response is a riot with that song being played.Shpil nisht,Vee tsite gayte doorch!Ich hub dich gezuct! But no,Its-Oyfen Pripechik.Haha!
How fabulous that would have been for the "real" Rick's Place to have spoken Yiddish! That would have been a real stick in the eye for the Nazis. Such a beautiful language.
a' schtick "in the eye! Don't forget, this version is a fake! But amazing how they did it. I do love Oifn Pripetchok, but i also love 'as time goes by"

Can anyone who speaks Yiddish comment on the translation? I watched it with the subtitles and translation on but mostly came out as nonsense. I'd love to watch more Yiddish dubs of popular movies. Someone really ought to do a scene from Star Wars. Of course, there's decades of actual Yiddish-language movies too.
Sure - what would you like to know? It's the exact translation of the original. The song they are singing is Oyfn Pripechik which is a song anyone who knows Yiddish learned first. It's funny to hear this here...actually it's hilarious because it's so out of context. It's about a small house in a shtetl where the little kids learn the Hebrew alphabet and the rabbi puts wood into the Pripechik - the oven where you cooked and heated the house.

Casablanca, one of, if not the best movies ever produced in glitzland .... a true Classic and produced for significantly less than $500,000 ..
Самый лучший фильм всех времён и народов и самая красивая еврейская песня. Спасибо за этот замечательный дубляж.
Удивительно и приятно слушать эти диалоги из прекрасного фильма «Капабланка» на идиш.Спасибо

I didn't know Ingrid Bergman and Louie Armstrong spoke Yiddish!
That wasn’t Louie Armstrong! That was Dooley Wilson!
@@johnrobinsoniii4028 Thanks for the correction. Yes, I now see it was Arthur "Dooley" Wilson .
Oy veh!
Does Major Strasser of the Third Reich also speak Yiddish in this? Hilarious! Best put down to him and his kind. Ha, ha!
Conrad Veidt, who played Major Strasser, was actually had a Jewish wife at that time.
They are saying; why is the dialogue out of sync with our lips?
litvisher Yiddish
Leyzer, du ROCKst!

Der Satzbau ist falsch;auf die Frage,wo Rick ist, muss es heißen: er iz gegangn nakh derhejm .
Funny the piano player doesn't look Jewish!
Right, you have to be white to be Jewish!
There are “Black” JEWS, YEMINITES 👍🏼
Don’t be so ignorant 🙄🙄
It’s funny, but I bet you don’t look like a complete moron.
Of course. I know two black Rabbis.
What's the name of this song?
oyfn pripetshik
Ojfn Pripetschik
It's a famous lullaby.
willie the lion smith spoke yiddish, too, but i don't think he could sing like this, on his best day.
But he played great piano!
Smokin cigars’ll kill your voice. I would advise against it.
