This is one of my favorite songs by them. And the organ at the end is so beautiful. I’ve always loved the line “ we are the morning birds that sing against the sky”
Yeah, I dig that lyric too. Initially I felt the ending of the song was kinda ‘meh’. But as I wrote the description I looked up the lyrics and I now appreciate how the ending fits the lyrics. Thank you for your comment!
I agree that the ending lasts a little long. The live version does more with this outro. Nice that you mentioned the nice bass work on this…Sam is really talented and also plays keys. In concert, when there is a song with keys, he does both by playing the bass pedals with his feet (that’s why he’s always barefoot).
Their music just gets better on their latest album ( battle at gardens gates ) and the song Age of man on their previous album is a fan favourite. Looking forward to a new album coming in July, us hard core greta fans have been replaying the same songs for a while.
Right? Imagine how I feel now? I’ve only allowed myself to listen to just their debut so I can react to the rest of their material in my videos! 😫😫 I’m also VERY excited for their new album. I feel like I became a fan of GVF at the best time! Thank you for your comment! Please like, subscribe, and hit the notifications bell if you haven’t already!
@@shotgunndunn Josh’s voice is sounding more controlled than it’s ever been. I think the newest one coming in July, might be there best yet. The second song off the album is getting released tomorrow ☺️
Some people think it's about their mom: "She is a lady, comes from all around She's many places, but she's homeward bound And now she walks kinda funny I think she knows Day by day by day Our love grows" ...and then: "We are the morning birds that sing against the sky"... ...I think their mom said Josh and Jake were born early in the morning. That would make it really sweet. While I think the song means more that, I also believe Flower Power it the essence of GVF...
I don’t care at this point who they are compared to as long as it’s not used as an insult and you don’t. I think that it’s great that there are more people now willing to see past that and just appreciate good music than there were before or even at the time this album came out. This is definitely one of my favorites. It’s on my list of great car ride songs. I love the end because it reminds me of much of their later songs on Battle with the Organ. 😄
Thank you for your comment! I listened to the entire album on repeat all day yesterday while building a drive gate for my yard. I have to say, this song has grown on me. I genuinely enjoy it now. Thanks again!!!
I think I’ll just do the entire month of May devoted to these guys. I’ve already had all of these song s grow on me SO much this weekend. I had the album on repeat. All. Weekend. Long. I think I’ll do an entire play through of this album. So I can share my updated thoughts and feelings on all of the songs now that I have a better context. I also need to react to some of their live stuff! So much to listen to!! Thank you for your comment!!
Fair comment, I agree it's always made me think of Hey Hey What Can I Do as well. Not one of my faves. Sam is a great base & keys man , but then I think Jake is a great guitarist. Worth mentioning all four are talented musicians. Josh can play piano & drums, Jake plays all strings drums piano harmonica, Danny, the drummer started on guitar, and Sam I reckon can okay absolutely anything he wants.
Oh, I was really looking forward to this! This is the song! Reminds me (sonically) of Battle of Evermore. I think the studio version's the only one featuring mandolin...? It's not in the previous demo version or later on in any live (electric) versions...so I can't help but think it was the producer's (deliberate) decision to make it sound even more "zeppy"...? I really don't mind (or care) because while i''ve known about LZ from kindergarten (thanks dad!), it was Battle of Evermore that really made me fall in love with LZ's music at the age of 17. Flower Power made me explore GWF's whole catalogue and they really won me over with the live version of the song from Red Rocks.
Battle was one song I never cared for as a child. Now, I absolutely love it. Glad you were looking forward to this track. It has definitely grown on me since my initial reaction. I listened to the entire album on repeat most of the day yesterday. Thank you for your comment!
Oh that’s on my list!! Fo Sho!! I’m excited for that as well!! Thanks for your comment! Please like, subscribe, and hit the notifications bell if you haven’t already!
My personal take on this song is that it tells the story of their mom being pregnant with them (identical twins, singer and guitarist) as in, “she walks kinda funny”…. But that’s just my opinion reading between the lyrics. Three of them are blood brothers and the drummer is a brother from another mother 😁
I really like the acoustic version of this song better. It was recorded live on a radio station during their promo for the album. It really shows their growing musical skills, esp Sammy playing piano instead of the organ you hear on the album. The piano fadeout is beautiful.
You need to listen to Flower Power live from Red Rocks (2019). It is brilliant! The extended version is around 12 min long. To hear how the arrangement is changed and the power it brings at the end is terrific. GVF is a much better live band than in studio!
Chicks love this song, I'm more into their harder rock songs but all is good. They are better musicians since this recording, and the singing is much better too.
Yeah, I’m a sucker for the banging tunes as well! But this song has grown on me since my initial reaction to it. It has a great feel. Thanks for your comment!!
Walkin' funny bcoz Karen Kiszka is pregnant w/ the twins. He even says " mama, mama, mama (mom). " I'd love it my kid wrote a cool song about me one day
I love this song, think it grows on you, although the organ outdo is definitely long. Next album may be my favorite and I think it has a lot of songs in the vein. Sounds much less Zeppliny to me.
I’ve been wanting to post me literally just jamming out to Zeppelin. And talking about it. Hardly a first time reaction. But, some may get a kick out of how energetic I get. Literally decades of listening. Most Zeppelin tunes it’s still like the first time I ever heard it. It’s STILL changed my life to this very day. Thank you for your comment!
I agreeto a point with your reaction. This is a classic Panty Drop Song. Lol Gotta mix in some for your young female fans and what ive seen, they have a Ton. Lol 😂 Good song but not the Banger I Like.
Yeah, even just judging the demographic based on my reaction video it seems to be a mostly female fan base. Not to mention the ‘roar’ of the crowd in the live videos.

That’s super cool that he uses his feet! (lil bit like Geddy Lee?? 😉) I can’t wait to see them live!!!
One of my favorites, especially seeing them playing this live.
It’s surely grown on me. I jammed the entire album ALL weekend. Thank you for your comment!!

Waiting for their Live reactions🤘

This band is from about an hour and a half north of me, 62 years old and I love these kids.
