This was great! Loved the vibe of the conversation. I know you each have a ton on your plates, but some collaborations in the future would be fun to see!
Joe and Matt are among my most favorite RUclipsrs, but I discovered them independently, didn’t know they know each other. So of course videos like this are gold to me!
This has been an interesting insight into the frustrations you guys go through. Stay sane my friends.
Joe you are basically my FAVORITE interviewer now, You have such a natural casual loveable personality, this is absolutely fantastic!!! WOW!!!! been watching both you and Matt for quite a while love you guys
That's super kind, thank you. :)
You guys are great -- that's all, no notes :)
Happy Holidays and thanks for another great, interesting and fun interview.
Same to you!
2 really, Really good creators....and one of the reasons I say that, is you both have enough humility to admit being human and having errors... Kudos. That sort of authenticity can't be bought..👍😁👍
You know when you're having a great conversation with people that are like minded and you find yourself nodding continually throughout the conversation? That was me with this video. :) I am a tinker myself and I LOVE playing with technology to make things easier. I think more people have to be optimistic with some healthy skepticism so we can nurture how we make all of our lives better. Thanks guys for the conversation and hope there is an opportunity for a live discussion option in the future. Have a great rest of your week and happy holidays!
Congrats on 1 mil you definitely deserve it
So... Do more of these. Doing a podcast with another creator in your realm and size created the most natural and fluid conversation you've had 🙏
One of the things I like about your channels is that you bring your own twist on any given topic. I like the variety and the fact that you introduce new info to me. Even when you cover something I’m already aware of, you usually add something new. I don’t always agree but I’m always entertained. Thanks.
Another cool interview.
I'd love to see you interview Alec Watson from Technology Connections
That would be so rad. Seems like such an interesting and funny guy.
Never met him but I like his channel.
I’m a fan of both of your channels. Thanks for persevering. 👍🏻
Two of my favorite creators together talking shop! Loved it!
Cool! Two of my favorite guys at the same time. Made my Morning.
I sub to both you guys and am always so happy when tubers get together and wax over things.
I enjoy this format, and really enjoyed the conversation with Dr. Becky.
It made me sad when you said the reason companies "go green" is that it's simply cheaper, and that coal is dieing off because it gets expensive.
I obviously like the trend it's going, but I want to see a world where economic insentive is not nr. 1 on the list at any time 😕
1:15:20 the good news is your shit is ALWAYS easily digestible to a college dropout like myself who has also been in the writing game for nearly 20 years (never published for money thus far), and equally important, it’s ENTERTAINING AND ENGAGING. You make content I want to watch bc it’s always going to be interesting. And I mean, the parts that YOU take care of in the writing. That’s the stuff I’m into more than anything.
You’re pretty good, man. You bring comfort when and where it’s needed.
Great conversation.
As an Australian I remember going to the snow in Australia and the one thing I remember most was being _warm_ and just being so amazed but also so mad about it in retrospect because it proved that Aussies can build warm houses we just _don't_ because everyone's always too focused on the heat first. Insulation in the roof but nothing in the floor so you are just loosing all your warmth through your feet. My old school has a Scottish teacher and he said he'd never been as cold anywhere else as he was in Australia. Experts call Aussie homes 'glorified tents' and that is entirely accurate for most of our building stock. Thankfully it sounds like the base required star level of a house is getting increased and hopefully there is a big step up between the two different levels so holding out for that and glad some are pushing even higher and more and more people are calling for efficient homes.
Also got me to view thermals and layering as potential everyday winter clothes and 'not just a hiking/camping thing' because we had them we'd just never wear them outside of specific occasions because they were special clothes.
Granted it does take awhile to figure out something that's good for combatting the icy mornings but not so thick you boil once it heats up, and can also be removed easily during a bathroom break if you do start boiling. I'd boil in a undershirt but for me a good jacket I could take of easily and 175 merino leggings were warm without being too warm while being constantly moderately active in a shed workplace. They also came in handy at tafe, the classroom was an icebox. The teacher relocated us to the stinking hot in comparison thanks to air-conditioning library every chance he got.
P.S. Thermal pants pair really well with stretchy jeans and I used to stop wearing those in winter, which considering everything is stretch these days... so yeah, gamechanger. The things that are likely obvious elsewhere in the world but not when you live in a place where everything is hot most of the time except when it isn't and then we make a national sport out of complaining about it.
Joe and Matt should keep in mind the alternative. Commuting to a job every day and being told what to do every day. And if you have an issue you have to deal with it outside of work hours. Having a million subscribers is a really good place to be.
You couldn't be more right. I started doing this after 12 years at a desk job (and several years of job insecurity before that). I would pick this any day. Sometimes I have to remind myself of that.
Shower thought: Do the people who think that electricians are a scam think the same thing about surgeons?
...'Cause in both cases, if you do it wrong, people tend to die.
Great conversation!
You can feel, that you are comfortable with another. I think that contributed to this conversationen
A amazing cross I've thank you to you both
awesome video, lets see some more like this also more about your teslas!!
I will say your limnic eruption video was particularly good. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I really enjoyed this guys and subscribe to both your channels! As an electronics designer with my own home business, I completely relate to the frustrations of 'keeping up with' the tools, updates and automation's of your work and its flow. I am always running into 'it used to do this', but some yo-yo decides to add a whizzy that breaks what works or makes me spend hours learning a new tool or new work-around or contacting the writers of some software to get them to fix what they broke. As an electronics designer/inventor, I do find myself thinking of a way to do something (like control lights and heat), realize the cost of bringing a single prototype to life, look for commercial solution only to be disappointed that those solutions either include a bunch of 'stuff' I don't need or only sort of do what I want to do while doing a mess of crap I'll never use. Oh! And yes, I've run into that 'lack of appliance repairman' thing with refrigerators, TV's and even my electric range (stove). Where the hell is the 'Maytag repairman when you need him? I thought he was freakin' lonely! Me too! 🤔😒😏
This was refreshing and extremely interesting getting an idea of "What it's like to do this job." I mean, sure I had my guesses. But the tidbits about people saying "You forgot" something in the comments was very real. "Huh. That's a good point. And they have to deal with that shit. Yikes."
Good stuff. Definitely do another one of these together.
Guys! You are both really great at what you do! I think your fear is that RUclips may fiddle with your reimbursement, and you might have to go back to your old jobs. Fret not; I think your followers are strong!
Speaking of trying to get in 'the zone' have you ever heard of the Freewrite? It's a distraction free writing tool. Writerlywitterings has some great videos about it, in fact he has an entire playlist explaining the different types and his experience as a writor.
It's not designed for editing though but rather for banging out rough drafts and getting ideas on paper, so it's a very specific tool which may or may not be as valuable to you these days now if you are mostly doing the final pass rather than the initial draft.
At some point in the interview, Matt said engineer and I heard "enginerd".....
I just LOLed!
I *wish* I represented that ...
Run the numbers on battery storage vs nuclear. It's much more expensive. Also, nuclear EROEI is months not years, and a large part of the cost is regulatory delay.
Joe, you should look at your home walls insulation and efficiency of the HVAC.
No matter how fancy your windows are, they are always your greatest source of heat loss. No matter what you do. Thus, the bigger your windows are, the more heat you loose from them. Your walls should have good insulation and if you want to loose less heat after that point, have smaller windows. (this comment is coming from a person who's family is in the construction business - so I know where of I speak). This is why your electric base boards are usually positioned under windows - to create a heat curtain in the cold months to mitigate that heat loss.
Around 45 min mark --- +1 on "that's why I have Apple stuff" ... I always encourage Apple to friends/family that I never want to help troubleshoot something ;) I purposely couldn't even navigate an Apple UI to open a browser ;)
How can I have a conversation with you???
Let's do it!
Hey you forgot........ nothing, great casual friendly chat, nice one guys.
You guys have great chemisty together! I literally think your answer is in front of you both! Team up! Work with each other! Do a podcast together! I totally would subscribe.
Hey Matt, why not set up a side-channel like MKBHD’s Autofocus and do EV reviews and talks there, I still love EV content! 😊
"Day kin" - it is an Australian company.
I have been told that it is not good to mix old and new batteries in the same bank...so if true better to buy the rest of your batteries soonish....
As an old fart I'd say you need to adjust your horizontal hold to get rid of that 1 pixel wider line.
I went back in time just to be first to comment on this video!
Were you an editor on the video posting?
@@MarkBarrett Nope, just your average Patron.
I "found" Matt because of Joe and my life is richer. Thanks Joe and Matt.
Maybe you could do a "Joe/Matt's Team extra" kind of thing with a different presenter that's not on your regular schedule to gauge what the reaction would be.
The weird pushback on EV's might be due to the price increases in Europe cause of the war. Electric heating has been a sore subject in the Nordics even before this though, now it's just a massive OOF. Not sure if it's just Russian creating the discord, but seems to be working. The fact that a lot of public chargers are unreliable is a big thing too, I've noticed.
never given two hoots about Elon one way or the other tbh
Hey Joe, for some reason the Link to Matts channel is wrong.
Just that you know.
I am subscribed to him as well. Just because of your shout-outs.
By the way, I love when you give other channels - smaller ones - some visibility.
oh, great, seems to be done
Are you guys wearing the same glasses?
Dish Washer. I had a guy actually a woman come out and fix our Dishwasher last year 2021. But yea that is rare. Oh, and Tesla Mobile Service is another one.
Most comments are written to be read by other commenters. The sheer amount of comments makes it unlikely that there is any expectation that you actually read them. Should be different here :) Hi, Joe!
Good trick. It worked. 😄
if you piss people off left and right you are on the right track ;) release the elon rant ;)
"How can you from your armchair quarterbacking debunk . . ."
When it violates conservation of energy or flies in the face of common sense; that hydrogen tape storage nonsense.
I enjoy your content most of the time, but I was a little annoyed about the beginning of this video. I've been seeing this trend lately about RUclipsrs who have been on the platform for years talking about getting burnt out or just having worse days than others and yeah, that happens and it's fine, it happens to everyone, but it just annoys me when people complain about being successful like you were. I mean, I get it. Doing any one thing for so long, even if it's something you love doing, can become too routine and stressful that it can wear you down, but that is the pressure you put on yourself. You set your own pace, you decide how stressful you want to be. You are working for yourself, you are your own boss. No one is making you do as much as you do, you have no deadlines except the ones you set for yourself. If you are becoming miserable, you are the only one responsible for that and you have to decide how to deal with it. You are under no obligation to keep a certain schedule to keep up with any demands. This is your world, you are the one in control. It cannot control you unless you allow it to.
Not everyone has the luxury of becoming successful as you have, and let's face it, you are successful and a bit famous on the internet or at least on RUclips. With that fame and success comes stress, but it's stress that you place onto yourself. If this RUclips career that you have is becoming too much for you, take a break or vacation or maybe even think about changing it up a bit or doing something completely different with your life. No one will blame you. You are in control of your own life and you actually have the finances I'm sure to make those decisions easier. Will you be able to sustain your lifestyle if you take time to breathe and decide whether or not to continue on the path you have set for yourself? You already know the answer to this.
As I said, I get it. You're feeling the stress that any career can bring, it happens to most people, but I just don't see the point of complaining about how successful you've become and enjoying the benefits of that success while moaning about it on camera. It somehow feels condescending. Anyway, I hope you will take this as an honest opinion and not as an attack. I only wanted to share my observation of something that I feel is a self-inflicting issue. Whether you will even read this is probably questionable since you have implied in multiple videos the dreads of going through comments anymore and I understand that about becoming too big to worry about what the little people have to say anymore because you would never get anything else done if you responded to every comment. So, take this post however you see fit. I will continue to watch your videos, but I don't think I will watch the rest of this one. Keep doing what you do, or don't or whatever, up to you. Be well and I hope you have a delightful day.
If you're honest you don't get very far but if you lie like all billionaires and politicians you will go very far.
You guys shouldn't worry so much about mild clickbait. There's plenty of blatant clickbait on the Internet behind which is just vapid nonsense. You create good content, but you're competing with a lot of other content.
I dropped following Elon during his crypto nonsense and him dismissing the pandemic, union-busting and pushing his employees back to work in like April 2020 or something. Just an awful human being. I'm amazed Tesla stockholders haven't sued him into oblivion yet or that SpaceX hasn't cut ties somehow. It's starting to be the final moments for that.
Well said. Thanks for speaking up too
Didn't we find out that the lockdowns were more harmful than good? So in retrospect he was correct to get people back to work?
Great conversation.
The link in the description for Matt's channel is broken.

Good looking out. I just fixed it. Thanks!
