    You know when you're having a great conversation with people that are like minded and you find yourself nodding continually throughout the conversation? That was me with this video. :) I am a tinker myself and I LOVE playing with technology to make things easier. I think more people have to be optimistic with some healthy skepticism so we can nurture how we make all of our lives better. Thanks guys for the conversation and hope there is an opportunity for a live discussion option in the future. Have a great rest of your week and happy holidays!

    One of the things I like about your channels is that you bring your own twist on any given topic. I like the variety and the fact that you introduce new info to me. Even when you cover something I’m already aware of, you usually add something new. I don’t always agree but I’m always entertained. Thanks.

    It made me sad when you said the reason companies "go green" is that it's simply cheaper, and that coal is dieing off because it gets expensive.
    I obviously like the trend it's going, but I want to see a world where economic insentive is not nr. 1 on the list at any time 😕

You make content I want to watch bc it’s always going to be interesting. And I mean, the parts that YOU take care of in the writing. That’s the stuff I’m into more than anything.

    As an Australian I remember going to the snow in Australia and the one thing I remember most was being _warm_ and just being so amazed but also so mad about it in retrospect because it proved that Aussies can build warm houses we just _don't_ because everyone's always too focused on the heat first. Insulation in the roof but nothing in the floor so you are just loosing all your warmth through your feet. My old school has a Scottish teacher and he said he'd never been as cold anywhere else as he was in Australia. Experts call Aussie homes 'glorified tents' and that is entirely accurate for most of our building stock. Thankfully it sounds like the base required star level of a house is getting increased and hopefully there is a big step up between the two different levels so holding out for that and glad some are pushing even higher and more and more people are calling for efficient homes.
    Also got me to view thermals and layering as potential everyday winter clothes and 'not just a hiking/camping thing' because we had them we'd just never wear them outside of specific occasions because they were special clothes.
    Granted it does take awhile to figure out something that's good for combatting the icy mornings but not so thick you boil once it heats up, and can also be removed easily during a bathroom break if you do start boiling. I'd boil in a undershirt but for me a good jacket I could take of easily and 175 merino leggings were warm without being too warm while being constantly moderately active in a shed workplace. They also came in handy at tafe, the classroom was an icebox. The teacher relocated us to the stinking hot in comparison thanks to air-conditioning library every chance he got.

    • @moony2703
      @moony2703 Год назад

      P.S. Thermal pants pair really well with stretchy jeans and I used to stop wearing those in winter, which considering everything is stretch these days... so yeah, gamechanger. The things that are likely obvious elsewhere in the world but not when you live in a place where everything is hot most of the time except when it isn't and then we make a national sport out of complaining about it.

    Joe and Matt should keep in mind the alternative. Commuting to a job every day and being told what to do every day. And if you have an issue you have to deal with it outside of work hours. Having a million subscribers is a really good place to be.

    I really enjoyed this guys and subscribe to both your channels! As an electronics designer with my own home business, I completely relate to the frustrations of 'keeping up with' the tools, updates and automation's of your work and its flow. I am always running into 'it used to do this', but some yo-yo decides to add a whizzy that breaks what works or makes me spend hours learning a new tool or new work-around or contacting the writers of some software to get them to fix what they broke. As an electronics designer/inventor, I do find myself thinking of a way to do something (like control lights and heat), realize the cost of bringing a single prototype to life, look for commercial solution only to be disappointed that those solutions either include a bunch of 'stuff' I don't need or only sort of do what I want to do while doing a mess of crap I'll never use. Oh! And yes, I've run into that 'lack of appliance repairman' thing with refrigerators, TV's and even my electric range (stove). Where the hell is the 'Maytag repairman when you need him? I thought he was freakin' lonely! Me too! 🤔😒😏

    Speaking of trying to get in 'the zone' have you ever heard of the Freewrite? It's a distraction free writing tool. Writerlywitterings has some great videos about it, in fact he has an entire playlist explaining the different types and his experience as a writor.
    It's not designed for editing though but rather for banging out rough drafts and getting ideas on paper, so it's a very specific tool which may or may not be as valuable to you these days now if you are mostly doing the final pass rather than the initial draft.

    Joe, you should look at your home walls insulation and efficiency of the HVAC.

  • @tigershirew7409
    @tigershirew7409 Год назад

    No matter how fancy your windows are, they are always your greatest source of heat loss. No matter what you do. Thus, the bigger your windows are, the more heat you loose from them. Your walls should have good insulation and if you want to loose less heat after that point, have smaller windows. (this comment is coming from a person who's family is in the construction business - so I know where of I speak). This is why your electric base boards are usually positioned under windows - to create a heat curtain in the cold months to mitigate that heat loss.

    The weird pushback on EV's might be due to the price increases in Europe cause of the war. Electric heating has been a sore subject in the Nordics even before this though, now it's just a massive OOF. Not sure if it's just Russian creating the discord, but seems to be working. The fact that a lot of public chargers are unreliable is a big thing too, I've noticed.

    I enjoy your content most of the time, but I was a little annoyed about the beginning of this video. I've been seeing this trend lately about RUclipsrs who have been on the platform for years talking about getting burnt out or just having worse days than others and yeah, that happens and it's fine, it happens to everyone, but it just annoys me when people complain about being successful like you were. I mean, I get it. Doing any one thing for so long, even if it's something you love doing, can become too routine and stressful that it can wear you down, but that is the pressure you put on yourself. You set your own pace, you decide how stressful you want to be. You are working for yourself, you are your own boss. No one is making you do as much as you do, you have no deadlines except the ones you set for yourself. If you are becoming miserable, you are the only one responsible for that and you have to decide how to deal with it. You are under no obligation to keep a certain schedule to keep up with any demands. This is your world, you are the one in control. It cannot control you unless you allow it to.
    Not everyone has the luxury of becoming successful as you have, and let's face it, you are successful and a bit famous on the internet or at least on RUclips. With that fame and success comes stress, but it's stress that you place onto yourself. If this RUclips career that you have is becoming too much for you, take a break or vacation or maybe even think about changing it up a bit or doing something completely different with your life. No one will blame you. You are in control of your own life and you actually have the finances I'm sure to make those decisions easier. Will you be able to sustain your lifestyle if you take time to breathe and decide whether or not to continue on the path you have set for yourself? You already know the answer to this.
    As I said, I get it. You're feeling the stress that any career can bring, it happens to most people, but I just don't see the point of complaining about how successful you've become and enjoying the benefits of that success while moaning about it on camera. It somehow feels condescending. Anyway, I hope you will take this as an honest opinion and not as an attack. I only wanted to share my observation of something that I feel is a self-inflicting issue. Whether you will even read this is probably questionable since you have implied in multiple videos the dreads of going through comments anymore and I understand that about becoming too big to worry about what the little people have to say anymore because you would never get anything else done if you responded to every comment. So, take this post however you see fit. I will continue to watch your videos, but I don't think I will watch the rest of this one. Keep doing what you do, or don't or whatever, up to you. Be well and I hope you have a delightful day.

    I dropped following Elon during his crypto nonsense and him dismissing the pandemic, union-busting and pushing his employees back to work in like April 2020 or something.
