  • Hey y’all ! Welcome to another Friday with CWCOI ! In this week’s episode our host, Ally Yost, is joined once again by special guest and friend, Ashley Hetherington. Ally and Ashley go right in and talk about something that's been weighing heavy on their hearts - and that is modesty and purity and what that looks like when honoring Christ. As they've experienced both sides, they are able to confidently and boldly share how to Lord's protected them as they've navigated modesty and purity with Him. We hope this episode leaves you encouraged and reminded of God's love and protection over you.

    I’m 25 years old and I met my husband 8 years ago. We weren’t Christian’s and we weren’t virgins we were living for the world and I got pregnant in 2020. I was still not a Christian but believed in God, I was seeking an abortion because I didn’t want this version of my husband. I went to the doctor and the doctor prayed over me and another nurse came in and also prayed for me, my daughter was sent for a reason. She changed our lives completely. We had her and continued to live for the world and last year we both were saved and born again and a month later married. My husbands addictions vanished when we put our faith in the lord. We grew up together and although this man wasn’t my first he will be my last and I will forever be grateful for what God has done for us. I now have a 3 year old that loves Jesus and maybe another one coming soon but this message is so important. So thank you for sharing this❤

    As someone who has recently decided to pursue purity - I really needed this! I wish I had women and sisters in Christ that would of been there to speak such life and love into me. I truly didn’t believe that I could ever surrender this part of me because I’ve already done it. But God has really changed the desires of my heart and has given me the strength to forgive myself and lay it all at His feet!!!

There was actually one time at the gym, I was in one of the rooms, stretching before my workout, and this young man came right next to me, took off his shirt, and starting posing infront of the mirror! As a follower of Christ, my worth and value come from my Heavenly Father. In a world that is full of lust and oversexualizes everything, I desire to dress in a way that honors & glorifies God! as a Muslim woman I do understand and relate with the purity and modesty thing and it makes my heart so happy seeing Christian sisters following this path (although it may "look" different because Muslims are known to take it a little bit too far with the modesty thing 😅) but hey, same concept, different branches of the same tree, if we agree to agree on that we're to stay pure and no man can see our tributes except our husbands..we can actually find a lot to agree on rather than just disagree 🤍 loved this episode, I'm a viewer of Ashley, love her so much, I've seen Ally on GGB pod but now I guess I'm a fan of hers as well

    one of the best advice i've heard from a christian regarding the importance of how we dress and present ourselves was, fishermen choose their bait based off of what type of fish they want to catch! different baits attract different types of fish. in the same way, how we dress and present ourselves will attract different types of people!

    I used to be someone who would say it was a man’s fault if he was tempted looking at me. Then one day I was looking in the mirror at my outfit and God showed me my heart. I was saying in my head and with my mouth that I was doing it “for myself.” “I just like the clothes…I look cute…It’s hot outside so I can wear practically nothing…” But when God showed me my heart it said, “I wear this because I like it when men look at me.” It made me disgusted with myself. That second I changed my outfit, grabbed a trash bag and started throwing away my clothes.

  • @jesusiskingofmyheart
    @jesusiskingofmyheart 4 месяца назад +24

    Yes! God changes our hearts! I dealt with a similar conviction. Before I came to Christ, all I used to wear were crop tops and revealing outfits! One day, I felt the conviction so strongly and I knew it was getting the wrong attention from the wrong people and the way I was dressing and revealing my body, wasn’t honoring the Lord! No one told me anything, I just felt convicted by the Holy Spirit.. you are right sisters, it is worth it! To surrender and to be obedient! I've also found it easier to share the gospel or my testimony with someone when I am dressed in a way that represents Christ & who He is! Thank you Jesus 💛

    As someone who is currently seeking a closer relationship with God, I can attest to all of this. For years, I had tried to win the approval of “men” because I was the only one of my friend group that didn’t get that attention. I would go to the bars, with revealing clothing on, feeling cute (but miserable because I was kind of uncomfortable being the bigger girl of the group), and still didn’t get the attention that I so longed for. Thinking back on it now, I believe that was God protecting me. As frustrating as it was, He was like, “nope!” And I’ve also have been in a couple of relationships where I lived with a man, and wondered why it never worked out. Now I know! And also, after all of that, would go out and sleep around just trying to find the connection that I desired, and never found it. Cut to now, I’m now at 8 months of abstinence, and my mind and goals have never been so clear. It is not easy by ANY means. I still have temptations, I still fall into certain traps and lies of the enemy, but God has never left my side. His love is a love that I haven’t been able to fully comprehend, but it is such a special feeling! And I know he’ll send me the husband He has for me one day!

After having my wardrobe controlled, among other things, when I left him and became comfortable with my body again I dressed (and still do) risque.

And I was so shocked at how well they worded everything and didn't shame or scrutinize women and had a genuine motivating spiritually lifting conversation. As someone who has grown up in the church (pastors' kid) and has a lot of church hurt this healed so much of me and I think it gives the real reasoning as to why God wants us to be modest and pure.

    21:54 "What am I doing to attract these kind of men? Do a heart check and re-evaluate what you are doing." I 1000% agree, and I think it can also apply to our behavior and insecurities outside of seeking guys. Like when we are looking at ourselves are we immature, lacking fruits of the spirit etc. that are detracting godly men.

    Being freed in Christ from past sins is awesome and it’s important to live on with that past behind you!
    I’m in my 30’s single never been married. Throughout my teens and twenties I was ostracized, mocked, called legalistic, self righteous, and even called a false christian; by female peers both in and outside of church. Not because of anything I said or did in general let alone to them, but because I dressed modestly and was waiting (and still currently waiting) for marriage. I’ve never condemned anyone for their dress or losing “it.”
    How do you address girls and women who are offended that someone has different sin struggles regarding purity?

    Thank you for being so open and honest about both of your testimonies before Christ! After 1.5 years I still deal with shame and self condemnation about my decisions before knowing Jesus. It’s reassuring to know there are so many others who have been through the same thing! There is hope and redemption in the name of Jesus! 🙌❤

    I love how transparent you two both are 🥰 I’ve been in this same boat and I plan on talking about it in future videos myself. I have it mapped out. I agree with others I wish I had this around and WOGs. I was lukewarm for years. I chose to be because I grew up in a Christian foundation. I resented it for multiple reasons. So grateful I was able to find my own way to Christ and why I believe what I believe.

    Thankyou so much to both of you❤ I have been following both of you for a while now and can so relate to almost all that you guys talk about. Like you guys are me 10-15 years ago. I’m 46 now. I grew up in a Christian home but lived in the world and was luke warm. Partied, dressed sexy for guys attention, swore, was a wino, loved my wine, was the life of the party and yes I dabbled in Jesus when I needed him, but definitely was not surrendered. Then when I was about 35, while watching RUclips videos of near death experiences and encounters with God , I was convicted of drinking and just by asking for “help” he delivered me within 3 days from alcohol. It’s been 11 years and I have never had a drop of alcohol since. And also started reading my Bible every morning and night pretty much since then and the word has completely changed my life. I also had to ransack my closet and throw out all clothes that was lusty. And I also stopped watching all movies and t.v. that did not glorify him. Which to be honest. There is not much I can watch. I just want to say my life is sooo amazing and your guys testimony is almost exactly the same as mine, except I’m 11 years in now and still so in love with the Lord and he has blessed me so much!! Keep standing for Jesus and he will astound you❤️❤️🙏🙏

    I’m soooo glad you mentioned the baggy shirt, baggy jeans thing. I LOVE that style and feel so comfortable being in it, feel great and it’s so practical being a mum wearing clothes like that. But I was recently listening to a talk on modesty from a RUclipsr who I massively respect and admire but she made some comment about like ‘if a guy can wear it, you shouldn’t be wearing it’ and although that was her opinion, it isn’t biblical. So thank you for talking about that!

    ashley: "you got your whole life to be compatible"
    Amen! 🙏🏻 God is the master potter and we are the clay. 👏🏻 We are not perfect from the beginning, we are always changing and growing under the Lord's wings.
    The same thing goes with the inner workings of marriage-- the first experience will not define the rest. A couple will have that first experience and figure things out from there.

    I completely agree with you. I am one of few women who found their husband very early in life but was married 10 years later. We met when we were 16 and always knew we were to marry. I had a lot of goals I wanted to accomplish, including my education and he wanted to as well. I am deeply grateful for this man as he waited for me for 8 years to finish school and 9 months later he proposed. This is very rare and looking back on it, I risked a lot for him. I wish we got married earlier but society looks down upon that where I am from. I think the single most important rule for people who are dating, is to make sure you and your man are on the same page and have the right intentions.

      okay another comment but i am so happy you guys brought up the lie from the enemy that says 43:33 all this because its a common misconception but thats the thing that’s what satan does he tells a little bit of the truth- to make you doubt or to make you think weeelll maaybe, then LIES. God would never put two people together unintentionally and like cmon you know before you even do it if you’re gonna be compatible you can just feel like you don’t need to actually do the deed to know..

I either wear a long baggy top that fully covers my gym even when I sit, and leggings, or I wear super baggy trackies and a full covering vest top/long sleeve top (depending on temp). Not sure if it’s right yet. Will keep praying with you!

  • @megxxns2657
    @megxxns2657 Месяц назад

    Haven’t finished the pod yet so maybe they discuss this but wanted to add something that really helped me to see purity in a different light than purity culture painted it for me when I was younger (my church’s “talk” was showing the girls a piece of tape, sticking it to a bunch of things as a representation of us doing the deed, and saying that the tape gets less sticky the more things it touches and who wants not sticky tape after all of that, so pretty harmful to my view of sex and also just who God created me to be). Purity isn’t something you can achieve on your own - it’s not something you have because you didn’t have sex or think about sex or watch porn or something. It’s something none of us just “have” because we’re sinful by nature (Romans 3:23) - none of us are pure. What makes us pure is sanctification through Jesus and becoming more like him, which means being pure is just another way of saying that you’re being sanctified and being changed from the inside out to be more like Jesus (Romans 12:1-2, Hebrews 10:10). Also, we are never ever too far away from Jesus that he can’t purify us and make us whole in Himself again (Romans 8:35-39) whether that’s in our sexual existence and experiences or just in ourselves in general! So I hope talking about purity and modesty doesn’t make you feel hopeless or too far away from those “ideals” to ever surrender your sexual nature and desires over to God :) so grateful we’re talking about these topics though, I hate how sometimes these get shoved under the rug for being taboo in Christian communities of women so thanks for bringing them up, sex is a part of our life that God has authority over too so it’s important to talk about!
