I’m in high school and most people think it’s odd I dress modest but it’s what I feel comfortable with plus I say it’s what God calls us woman to do! I’m in a junior in high school, and this topic means a lot to me. This year the juniors are hosting prom which I’m so happy about it’s going to be at the aquarium! Me and my family for the past two days went prom shopping the first day I did not find anything and the 2nd day I did! ❤ which was good. It took me forever because I made it clear that I wanted to be modest. My mom wanted me to wear this one dresss I tried it on for her but I felt not feel comfortable and my feelings are saying I look good and yes, I may look good in some of the dresses, but I never want someone to say well then lucky plus I would like to be modest. That’s what I feel comfortable. That’s why I went every time we went to with Dress shop I said no no no so many times because I want to be modest and glorify God it is what I try to do every day. The last shop we went to was wonderful because we went to a great place and the owners where Christian so good nice to know that my opinion mattered. Which was nice! God calls of us to be different from this world! Nan’s I may be different than all of my friend and that’s okay becusse I believe it’s truly important! And God loves me and that matters! ❤❤ don’t listen to people make fun of you for being modest, I don’t who care have confidence! In your self!❤❤

I really needed to see this. Ive been struggling with my relationship with God for a while. And also just broke up with boyfriend of 3+ years. I fell into temptation of pursuing other men dressing immodestly and lusting. And relaized how bad it is. You’re like an older sister teaching me while also reminding me of who God is❣️
At the time Proverbs was written, the significance of purple was huge. It was a color that only royalty could wear. So the purple gown is a representation of dressing yourself as though you are royal. Taking care of your appearance because you know your worth.
Modesty as a believer is really important and although people think dressing modest is boring and “grandma style”, it’s not. Dressing modest is something we do because our bodies are temple BUT dressing modest isn’t boring or plain at all.
As a Muslim girl, I love seeing other people dress modestly and devote their life to God, knowing that this life is very temporary and seeking heaven ✨️ ❤️

I love the message here. It’s so hard as a 13 year girl living in a society that says wear this and wear that, but knowing that wearing those things will only draw the wrong attention. It’s a great reminder for me that my confidence should be in Christ and Christ alone, and never the things of this world such as immodest clothing. Idk if any of you ladies will see this but I'm 29 and I've always struggled w my outward appearance and what I wear and I'll be completely honest have worn certain things to draw attention and I can say that if you keep being more modest at your age now you'll be glad you did once you're my age! I switched to just dresses and skirts about 2 years ago. This is huge if you know me. I used to try to find the shortest shorts and the outfit that was the tightest and showed the most skin. Men (and woman) treat me with a lot more respect now. I would love to see you wearing more modest workout gear. You’re just too beautiful for those tight skimpy clothes. 😬 saying this with so much love.

As a Christian girl who’s 13 and easily influenced, I want to dress more modestly, and I know it gets really hard especially during the summer when everyone is wearing short shorts and bikinis. @fresh.prince Hebrews 9:27. It is appointed for us to die once, but after death is judgment. And no one knows when it's their time to die. So, as a Christian girl, she's doing the right thing. Set an example for other Christian young people.
Crop tops are great for laying under things like jumpsuits or sweaters without being bulky or hot. They can actually help an immodest outfit be modest 😊
P.s. Ashley please lock your car doors when you're sitting in your car. I had more than one bad experience when I was younger from not doing that. Now I lock them immediately after getting in my car. This goes for everyone really. Stay safe y'all! 💗
This could not have come at a more perfect time, it’s like it was meant to be. The Lord has been working hard in my heart these last several weeks and has compelled me and made me realize that my wardrobe needs to change along with my heart. I ransacked my closet the other day to get rid of all of my immodest clothes and am now searching of new modest pieces to put in. I never understood modesty really until I followed the Lord more closely and I realized that it truly is about glorifying God and emphasizing what matters most about us: our hearts, minds, souls, and the light of God within us. Immodesty distracts from those things. Thanks for this video, it’s nice to hear another young woman talking about this and the importance behind it.

For me personally, I feel comfortable wearing long crop tops with baggy pants, or tighter shorts with baggy shirts. It’s definitely all about balance for me. One tighter article of clothing with a loose one is my go to 💜💜

Ever since I gave my life over to the lord I realize how I used to dress was taking more from me, and ever since I started dressing modest I’ve gained a whole new self confidence that I never thought would’ve been possible. My husband and I met in high school. I wore a hoodie and jeans. Every single day. No matter the weather. I didn't do my hair, I usually pulled it back or put it out of my way. We've been married for three years this July. Have a beautiful baby boy and another on the way. Everyday I thank God for sending me him. His timing is truly best. What I was going through in my life is a long story, but I needed a man of God to help me through it. And He sent me just that. I still dress modestly, but I've gotten better at ditching jeans and hoodies. Thankful for that too 😂 *I didn't realize this video was older until I read the other comments*

Here’s another question I ask when considering modesty (and I get complimented every where I go for how i dress): If the Holy Spirit lead me to minister to someone that day, would I feel like my outfit ruins my witness? That’s been helpful for me navigating modesty, while still being stylish.

I liked hearing about how the Proverbs 31 woman did dress well & within her means. I also really like the idea of going on Pinterest and finding the styles you like, then shopping ONLY for those. I’ve been a lot more disciplined in my shopping lately, and I have been making fashion Pinterest boards. But I usually go to target or old navy and that’s it…I like the idea of going to an actual mall to shop for specific items across different stores.
I would love to see how you shop for the summer because I feel like as someone just starting covering in the winter is easy but in hot weather I am not too sure unless I wear long dresses but I don’t always want to wear a dress because I am a sporty girl.
I really liked this video, even though it's absolutely not my style - I love dresses and have a much more girly style. I'm also a bit older than you 😉 It's really encouraging to see God working in the heart of their children regarding modesty. One thing I've noticed over the years is that the perception of modesty also changes according to culture. As an example, I've just moved countries after 11 years of living abroad, and I quickly realized I had to change most of my beloved wardrobe, because people's perception of modesty here is different. And my current wardrobe just doesn't fit the bill. The Holy Spirit started making me feel uncomfortable with it. I'd like to leave a word of encouragement regarding this topic. I've loved clothes ever since I was a kid and have even considered going into fashion design - so clothes are a big thing for me in the sense that I express myself through them and they make me happy. So when I realized that I had to give up a big chunk of my beloved pieces I was sad. But - as with everything else - the Lord comforted me, changed my feelings towards those pieces I loved, and showed me pieces that I now love even more and fit the modesty bill that I wanted. Notice that there was nothing wrong with my other clothes until I moved countries. But it's important to live in a way that honors God where we currently are ❤

In any case, it's just an example of how different cultures that share many of the same principles (both European countries, developed and with high level of education, for example) can have different takes on what is and isn't modest. You wouldn't notice it just by walking around, tho 🤔

While they weren't super short and I wore them with opaque tights, there's a huge difference in people's overall reaction to that here compared to Norway. In 11 years living there, I haven't been catcalled once. People mind their own business. Here, people love to mind other's business 🤦🏻♀️ ... the amount of times I had women in my family making remarks on how short a garment was, or how it would look great with leggings - while I was wearing 100% opaque, coloured tights... In the beginning I was like: seriously, so judgemental. This IS decent! I'm not showing anything wrong. And they would *reluctantly* agree and concede that they were not being reasonable. But at one point I just realised that it was the culture for (most) of the people above 30 in Portugal. So, being over that age 🤣, I've just been adapting and adopting a style that is *perceived* as being more modest. And I think that this is the key: perception. As children of God and His ambassadors, we have to be mindful of how we are perceived. I didn't start wearing a different style. Staying true to whom God made you is important. But I now opt for longer flowy dresses, which I love, and am thinking of ways to transform the other, shorter ones.
I’m glad I’ve found you because I’ve really been trying make the right changes in my dressing and I realised how hard the other way is pushed and shoved in our faces constantly. As Christians we do have to do our best to upkeep the way God wants us to be and I’m relieved I’m finding more platforms speaking on Gods truth x

At first when we were first going to church ( 3-4 years ago ) I did not want to be “modest” I hated the idea of skirts and dresses. But legit today I feel more confident in them, I look and just think that I look way better in skirts than in pants. God opened my eyes to that and he helped my confidence grow. ❤️

And just yesterday we were having a convo about how people dress and what is acceptable and not. She is very young, a lot of things she does not fully grasp. You are a blessing to this generation. Just want to share my experience. Years ago I was praying about modesty and God clearly asked me to not wear jeans nor pants. So, for the past 20 years I have been wearing skirts and dresses and it’s been a huge blessing. I always get compliments about how I dress.
Amen, this is such an important topic!! It is such a huge struggle sometimes, but I pray that the Holy Spirit helps us to keep the perspective that our beauty and value are not dependent on our appearance or the attention we may gain from others. All our value and identity is in Christ, and true beauty is in the good fruits that the Holy Spirit causes to flourish in us. Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV): But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Many Christian women really need to watch this because even if you're a Christian, it's still hard to dress modestly because of this worldly trend but we Christians should be reminded that we are living for the Lord and not for the world so whatever we do, whatever we say & wear, it should be glorifying to God. thrift shops!! target!! amazon!! brandy, etc. look on pinterest! simplistic outfits are good too. like a simple pair of jeans and a sweater are easy and modest.
I personally love shoping at thrift stores, it’s usually very affordable and exiting cause you can find fantastic pieces if you are patient og creative 😁

I have started my faith journey and I also felt the pressure before being saved to dress in a half naked outfit and I realized when I went out I would not feel confident and I would feel like everyone is staring at me. I now have been on my modesty journey and I feel so beautiful! I love it and I honestly feel like it suits me more.

*Warning: Long Comment Ahead lol* This showed up on my recs and I was glad it did, it was lovely. I've dressing more modestly little by little by the convincing of the Holy Spirit since I reconciled, so this video wasn't really for me, but it's a necessary one to be sure. Women need to hear positive, personal messages like these. And feel that fellowship. Also, I was half way about to scream about our identity in Christ and then you said it! lol Yes, God is the only one that can give us true identity. Ladies, cling to that at first and eventually it'll be something that just "is" in your life. Because it is a reality whether you feel it or not and it is a beautiful gift. If I had something to add is that I was never super immodest, but I had my moments. Like most women there had been impure motives for my dressing at times, but a lot of clothes were also associated to relationships that caused me a lot of anguish and they just couldn't be redeemed. Funny thing is I clicked for the style recs, but they don't suit my body type. I did love the scripture centered message though ^_^ I would love to make a video like this for style recs in the future if I ever start a youtube channel. Shopping has been a challenge b/c I have a lot of limiting factors, but recently I went shopping & scored a ton of clothes. Praise the Lord! God bless you & keep you ladies!
I just want to love this so many times! God has really been doing a work in my heart in my clothes. I don’t want to say I’m outwardly immodest in ways, but God is still refining me in terms of not wanting to look like the best in the room or attract attention to myself just based on looks- even if it’s not sexual in nature. I’m really looking lately way more into specifically modest clothing that are stylish (which, why is that so hard to find?!) rare gems. Hahah 8 years born again and so thankful for our Lord! My personal story is when I first became a born-again believer who is on fire for the Lord and kind of made the decision to only wear long skirts and to wear a head covering because I thought that was the only way to be modest. Well my non-believing husband was not a fan and it kind of put a big rift in between us. So I learned to tone it down but it was still very old lady like clothing. Now I'm rediscovering modesty with fresh eyes and I'm trying to figure out how to be modest and still look cute in age-appropriate, I'm 39 years old by the way. The area I'm struggling with the most is athleisureware and work out clothing. I'm trying to find modest ways to where bicycle shorts and leggings. I have always been a modest dresser. This year my closet has been getting a redo. I have invested in vintage pieces, that are classic and never go out of fashion. Lauren, by Ralph Lauren has beautiful vintage pieces that are timeless and high quality. I advice adding some of these vintage pieces and fill in with modern tees, and other basic items. Purchase quality and you only purchase once or twice. Avoid fads, and spend on timeless.❤

The last shop we went to was wonderful because we went to a great place and the owners where Christian so good nice to know that my opinion mattered. Which was nice! God calls of us to be different from this world! Nan’s I may be different than all of my friend and that’s okay becusse I believe it’s truly important! Modesty as a believer is really important and although people think dressing modest is boring and “grandma style”, it’s not. Dressing modest is something we do because our bodies are temple BUT dressing modest isn’t boring or plain at all.

I switched to just dresses and skirts about 2 years ago. This is huge if you know me. I used to try to find the shortest shorts and the outfit that was the tightest and showed the most skin. Men (and woman) treat me with a lot more respect now. I would love to see you wearing more modest workout gear. Crop tops are great for laying under things like jumpsuits or sweaters without being bulky or hot. They can actually help an immodest outfit be modest 😊
P.s. Ashley please lock your car doors when you're sitting in your car. I had more than one bad experience when I was younger from not doing that. Now I lock them immediately after getting in my car. This goes for everyone really. Stay safe y'all! 💗

This could not have come at a more perfect time, it’s like it was meant to be. The Lord has been working hard in my heart these last several weeks and has compelled me and made me realize that my wardrobe needs to change along with my heart. I ransacked my closet the other day to get rid of all of my immodest clothes and am now searching of new modest pieces to put in. I never understood modesty really until I followed the Lord more closely and I realized that it truly is about glorifying God and emphasizing what matters most about us: our hearts, minds, souls, and the light of God within us. Immodesty distracts from those things. Thanks for this video, it’s nice to hear another young woman talking about this and the importance behind it.

For me personally, I feel comfortable wearing long crop tops with baggy pants, or tighter shorts with baggy shirts. It’s definitely all about balance for me. One tighter article of clothing with a loose one is my go to 💜💜

My husband and I met in high school. I wore a hoodie and jeans. Every single day. No matter the weather. I didn't do my hair, I usually pulled it back or put it out of my way.
We've been married for three years this July. Have a beautiful baby boy and another on the way. Everyday I thank God for sending me him. His timing is truly best.
What I was going through in my life is a long story, but I needed a man of God to help me through it. And He sent me just that.
I still dress modestly, but I've gotten better at ditching jeans and hoodies. Thankful for that too 😂

I liked hearing about how the Proverbs 31 woman did dress well & within her means. I also really like the idea of going on Pinterest and finding the styles you like, then shopping ONLY for those. I’ve been a lot more disciplined in my shopping lately, and I have been making fashion Pinterest boards. But I usually go to target or old navy and that’s it…I like the idea of going to an actual mall to shop for specific items across different stores.

It's really encouraging to see God working in the heart of their children regarding modesty.
One thing I've noticed over the years is that the perception of modesty also changes according to culture. As an example, I've just moved countries after 11 years of living abroad, and I quickly realized I had to change most of my beloved wardrobe, because people's perception of modesty here is different. And my current wardrobe just doesn't fit the bill. The Holy Spirit started making me feel uncomfortable with it.
I'd like to leave a word of encouragement regarding this topic. I've loved clothes ever since I was a kid and have even considered going into fashion design - so clothes are a big thing for me in the sense that I express myself through them and they make me happy. So when I realized that I had to give up a big chunk of my beloved pieces I was sad. But - as with everything else - the Lord comforted me, changed my feelings towards those pieces I loved, and showed me pieces that I now love even more and fit the modesty bill that I wanted.
Notice that there was nothing wrong with my other clothes until I moved countries. But it's important to live in a way that honors God where we currently are ❤

In any case, it's just an example of how different cultures that share many of the same principles (both European countries, developed and with high level of education, for example) can have different takes on what is and isn't modest. You wouldn't notice it just by walking around, tho 🤔

... the amount of times I had women in my family making remarks on how short a garment was, or how it would look great with leggings - while I was wearing 100% opaque, coloured tights...
In the beginning I was like: seriously, so judgemental. This IS decent! I'm not showing anything wrong. And they would *reluctantly* agree and concede that they were not being reasonable. But at one point I just realised that it was the culture for (most) of the people above 30 in Portugal. So, being over that age 🤣, I've just been adapting and adopting a style that is *perceived* as being more modest.
And I think that this is the key: perception. As children of God and His ambassadors, we have to be mindful of how we are perceived.
I didn't start wearing a different style. Staying true to whom God made you is important. But I now opt for longer flowy dresses, which I love, and am thinking of ways to transform the other, shorter ones.
I’m glad I’ve found you because I’ve really been trying make the right changes in my dressing and I realised how hard the other way is pushed and shoved in our faces constantly. As Christians we do have to do our best to upkeep the way God wants us to be and I’m relieved I’m finding more platforms speaking on Gods truth x

At first when we were first going to church ( 3-4 years ago ) I did not want to be “modest” I hated the idea of skirts and dresses. But legit today I feel more confident in them, I look and just think that I look way better in skirts than in pants. God opened my eyes to that and he helped my confidence grow. ❤️

Just want to share my experience. Years ago I was praying about modesty and God clearly asked me to not wear jeans nor pants. So, for the past 20 years I have been wearing skirts and dresses and it’s been a huge blessing. I always get compliments about how I dress.

It is such a huge struggle sometimes, but I pray that the Holy Spirit helps us to keep the perspective that our beauty and value are not dependent on our appearance or the attention we may gain from others. All our value and identity is in Christ, and true beauty is in the good fruits that the Holy Spirit causes to flourish in us.

I have started my faith journey and I also felt the pressure before being saved to dress in a half naked outfit and I realized when I went out I would not feel confident and I would feel like everyone is staring at me. This showed up on my recs and I was glad it did, it was lovely. I've dressing more modestly little by little by the convincing of the Holy Spirit since I reconciled, so this video wasn't really for me, but it's a necessary one to be sure. Women need to hear positive, personal messages like these. And feel that fellowship.
Also, I was half way about to scream about our identity in Christ and then you said it! lol Yes, God is the only one that can give us true identity. Ladies, cling to that at first and eventually it'll be something that just "is" in your life. Because it is a reality whether you feel it or not and it is a beautiful gift.
If I had something to add is that I was never super immodest, but I had my moments. Like most women there had been impure motives for my dressing at times, but a lot of clothes were also associated to relationships that caused me a lot of anguish and they just couldn't be redeemed.
Funny thing is I clicked for the style recs, but they don't suit my body type. I did love the scripture centered message though ^_^

I just want to love this so many times! God has really been doing a work in my heart in my clothes. I don’t want to say I’m outwardly immodest in ways, but God is still refining me in terms of not wanting to look like the best in the room or attract attention to myself just based on looks- even if it’s not sexual in nature. I’m really looking lately way more into specifically modest clothing that are stylish (which, why is that so hard to find?!) rare gems. Hahah

My version of modesty is skirts and dresses which I’m going back to, I will only wear pants in the winter and in my house…

Thaaaaaankkkk youuuuu!! God bless you! I've been in this journey of being modest and this video reaaally helps me a lot! And gives me more strength to be patient looking for good clothes! (I also glorify God because long skirts are trendy!) The only thing I would add, is loose t-shirts and not too tight, that are basic and beautiful too

Thank you for this video and I would love to see more on the topic! My personal story is when I first became a born-again believer who is on fire for the Lord and kind of made the decision to only wear long skirts and to wear a head covering because I thought that was the only way to be modest. Well my non-believing husband was not a fan and it kind of put a big rift in between us. So I learned to tone it down but it was still very old lady like clothing. Now I'm rediscovering modesty with fresh eyes and I'm trying to figure out how to be modest and still look cute in age-appropriate, I'm 39 years old by the way. The area I'm struggling with the most is athleisureware and work out clothing. I'm trying to find modest ways to where bicycle shorts and leggings. I have always been a modest dresser. This year my closet has been getting a redo. I have invested in vintage pieces, that are classic and never go out of fashion. Lauren, by Ralph Lauren has beautiful vintage pieces that are timeless and high quality. I advice adding some of these vintage pieces and fill in with modern tees, and other basic items. Purchase quality and you only purchase once or twice. Avoid fads, and spend on timeless.❤
My 8 year old asked for a little house on the prairie dress to wear to church ❤and i found one on amazon.
