What a good guy. Last time i saw him in Knoxville he pointed out a guy in the audience. Said he served with the guy and hadn’t seen him since until showed up at his show like 50 years later.
John's great friend Philip Donnelly firing out some great licks. It's sad now to watch John's tribute to him in Jan 20 , Philip died Dec 2019. Maybe they get together in a place of great joy now. RIP John & Philip.
Rest in Peace, John. You are such a great songwriter that even Bob Dylan was a fan. I grew up with your music and will never forget your way wth a lyric: funny, angry, or touching.
I live in Muhlenberg County for the past 5 years. I've never heard of John Prine before. He's a great singer/songwriter, and I'm sad that I'll never get to see him perform in person. God rest his soul, and condolences to John's family and friends. Rest in peace. XOXO. 🙏❤🙏❤
Thank you John, you will be greatly missed. And thank you for this concert at Farm Aid '86. I was there, right at the edge of the stage taking photos and loving ever moment of it. Thank you again for all you taught us.
It would be nice to know who else is onstage with him. I see Bonnie Rait playing slide guitar, but can't tell who anyone else is. John Prine still looks pretty young here. Great guy, great career, great song.
I just can't understand how the people doing the sound could not give Bonnie more volume,,, maybe it is just on the tape,, but the audience heard it fine,,,, I wonder
Hey, guy playing lead was one of John's best friends and introduced him to european audiences as well. Philip Donnelly was a giant of a character. His lead here does seem a bit busy, but that sometimes happens at large outdoors and trying to mix electric with acoustic. They mostly played indoors and Philips licks would be mostly on acoustic guitar which fitted entirely better. RIP Philip and John and Rachel .👍❤
One of the best songs of all time. RIP JP.

The guitar playing on this is incredible.

Clontaff and Dead Cowboy
@@annettemoyle5976 A wild Cowboy but a loveable one. 🙏
And they just named a park in your honor. John would be proud.
Rest in Peace, John.

I'll be half way to heaven with paradise waiting just five miles from wherever I am.

His soul's rolled up the Rochester Damn, I'd say he's made it. Hugs.

WHO IS SINGING WITH JOHN ON STAGE
Tribute song to John Prine by songwriter Dennis Callahan
One of my favorite songs, but the guy playing lead is a little too busy here IMHO.
Sam,, He's adds some good lines but your right he's a little to enthusiastic.
