As someone who has the 11 pro, I was really surprised with the s20. A picked a lot of those images just due to the overall sharpness. Which is crazy as samsungs typically smooth a lot of the detail.
Samsung tends to smooth faces, but not the scenery. That's been typical over the years. I've had the S7 Edge and now the 9 plus. I just hope the update(s) fix a few things like auto focus, especially close up.
I've been doing photography for 10 years. With results of these 3 models so close, one has to pixel peep or see side by side to notice the difference. If we want our images to stand out, focus on perfecting photography skills (ability to see lighting, composition, moment, telling stories). These will really make the impact to your audience. Similarly I enjoy your videos not because of what video camera you are using, what the content and information you provide.

Thanks for making the most unbiased comparison on RUclips! As a Samsung guy, I feel the need to throw out something that most people don't realize. You can actually download and install the Google Pixel software on the S10 and S20, allowing you to use the Pixel photo software, combined with the excellent cameras of the S20. It's pretty incredible once you do that! Also, Pro Mode on the S20 Ultra - assuming you know what you're doing - blows every other phone camera away by a mile xD And no, this is not a fanboy post! I actually picked Pixel 3x, and iPhone once. Although once you're familiar with the blur, grading, and saturation of the cameras, it's pretty easy to pick the Samsung out of the group :P
Honestly, what camera is better, at this point, doesnt even matter. Every $1000+ phone, you can bet, has a good camera and the only difference between each phone, is really very slim. It's like how us guys see different shades of nail polish, the difference is too minimal to care.
Conclusion: Quality over quantity, appl Deep Fusion destroy 108 mig pixel! Apple night mode is insane! With just 12 migpixels!! Tbh apple 11 pro max is the clear winner in my opinion. 1) Night mode winner!, close shoot winner!
@@another2160 Nah, because Deep Fusion requires the A13 chip to process pics. I've the Z Flip which is about the S10+ quality. Also, the iPhone 12 is coming in September, pretty sure it's gonna crush Samsung again. Samsung's 108 MP camera should not be used under low light. If you shot with its default 12 megapixels, S20 Ultra also would beat out Iphone & Pixel at night shots al well.
Why does everyone keep reviewing the ultra. It's not the model most people are interested in buying and is not really worth comparing to these smaller phones. It's huge and overpriced and not practical for most high end users. We need to be comparing these to the S20 regular/plus line.
11:58 this is where all the “android quality sucks” comes from, why do androids continue to soften and smooth detail out in any lighting less than perfect, especially a 1.4k Samsung phone
Great comparison, Thanks for doing this! I tested myself and while I didn't pick many of the ones you all did... I picked the S20 more than anything. Rather surprising how improved the new camera is compared to other Galaxy models.

Yes, indeed. Also, both iPhone and Pixel 4 horribly overexposing photos. Color accuracy is just absurd. If the guy says "it was completely black" , and then we have something with like late twilight skies, bright blue or whitish, it seems kinda artificial to me.
You can't call this review unbiased. Many camera experts can easily tell you which camera took which shot because of the 'fingerprint' each camera leaves. Smartphone cameras are the same. It seemed in this review, the S20 image was chosen often through knowledge of how to pick it. Sure a couple S20 images were good, but even the photographer proudly announces throughout the many times he reshot an image. Telltale signs throughout and the last one where the stars a clearly visible (exactly what you're looking for in a night shot) in the Pixel 4 image is simply another dealbreaker, when it comes to taking this comparison seriously.
ikr! But these guys actually took the time to take multiple pictures and went with the best result they got out of it...just like people do in real life! Like...who the heck takes a single family picture? People usually take 10+ and pick 1 or 2 out of them,

Honestly I wish you clarified if you were using the full 108 mp on the s20 ultra or the binning with 12 mp. binning with 12 mp makes a massive difference at night mode.
You actually can’t use the full 108 MP mode for night shots. It’s automatically disabled at least in the latest software update (which we were using) so yes binning was enabled.
Asuquo Travels bruh the fact that you have to select different cameras manually means that the typical consumer wouldn’t know how to do this/ when to do this. If you genuinely don’t think this guy did it right then how are other inexperienced ppl going to know how to use the camera properly. That’s why I think the iPhone was impressive because deep fusion is automatic, night mode is also automatic etc. on the s20 you manually have to change to the 12mp lens.
We absolutely enabled night mode manually. With the handheld shots it was about a 5 second exposure and the iPhone was usually 3 seconds in that case with the pixel taking the longest about 8 second. For the tripod shot the Samsung did 28 seconds, the iPhone did 30 seconds and the Pixel 4 min.
Max Tech thanks for replying, good to know. This guy is salty just because the Ultra didn’t win every round. Legit anyone could have any one of these 3 phones and be completely satisfied. They all have their strengths.
If the standard 12mp was used for night shots the S20 would have easily won. I do however understand that a software update is needed to fix that auto focus issue.
he's a pixelfanboy, iphone 11 pro has done great job, but right now the type of beast hardware samsung has, their software is not complementing it properly. That should be updated!

Michael Angelo Apostol true just like they thought bixby will takeover google assistant! @@SteeperMouse40 Bixby was never meant to takeover Google assistant. It's main purpose was to use your phone hands free, which it excelled at. It did what it was made to do, better than any other assistant.

I think the pixel should have got more wins. The pixel 4 was way more forgiving and rarely gave a terrible image. Most of the times the pixel ended up in second place and I think that is an important aspect aswell.
Pixel 4 owner here, I personally leaned towards a lot of the Pixel shots, obviously because I have always owned pixels but it seems like the competition is really catching up! Some of these photos really shocked me and never would I have expected them to come out of a Samsung or iPhone. Google needs to step up their game with the pixel 5, looking forward to more videos like these, keep up the good work.
@Sebby 94 The iPhone 11 Pro can shoot 4k60 EDR (120fps bracketed sampled video) on all it's cameras The S20 Ultra on the other hand can only do 4k60 HDR10+ on it's rear camera and the feature is still in beta (it's still in beta on the note 10 too). Only doing plain old SDR on it's other cameras
shows that you're a sheep and have not seen any comparison video, you can shoot at 4k 60 from both front camera and back camera (primary and ultra wide), it has better audio recording (watch danny winget's video) and it has better stabilization. Also if has 8k 24fps, not gonna get used frequently but good to have
@@nishantdesai3705 No, it shows that you're an unintelligent sheep blinded by your fanboy-ism and couldn't notice the iPhone has clearly better dynamic range and processing in it's 4k video as most reviews have said Also I never said the s20 couldn't shoot 60fps on all it's cameras, it just can only do HDR10+ on it's main rear camera. Switching to other cameras on the phone will yield worse dynamic range compared to the iPhone that supports EDR on all it's cameras
It was always 108 as far as I know and they shouldn't have switched it to different pixel sizes since the reason the ppl bought the samsung is for that 108mbp sensor and they dont know about its dissatvantages because ppl think that higher numbers are always better so this is just an example for that and im thankfull for that
The problem with the 108 megapixel sensor is that the human eye doesn’t see in that resolution. Samsung is pushing an 8k camera because they are also pushing 8k televisions. However, there’s no 8k content out there. So, they are trying to get their user base to create the content for them so that Samsung can sell more 8k TVs.
@@GratiaCountryman I like the idea that it'll force other makers to try as well, so we'll have good 8K capabilities in a couple of years. Even if you don't video edit your footage and care about encoding, it's garbage-in-garbage-out with RUclips. 8K footage well taken should look better at lower compressions.
16:39 are you for real?! You didn't know if it was that blue lol... Obviously night mode brings out what you can't see. I am pretty sure those tree looked black in your eyes, so do you take points away because it looked green..
I really like the way Apple handles photos and so it wins in my view on color temperature and color management. Some S20 shots were really good, but the very shallow DoF really creates problems in a lot of cases, suprisingly also in shots where you'd like to have DoF, like a photographer who only shoots on f1.4.

@@66cotter ikr everyone here says the same.
Paul Cottreau something isn’t right in this test compared to others specific to night mode. This format is way better but the night mode points to either a problem with this phone or other comparisons being corrupted.
Also, Pro Mode on the S20 Ultra - assuming you know what you're doing - blows every other phone camera away by a mile xD
And no, this is not a fanboy post! I actually picked Pixel 3x, and iPhone once. Although once you're familiar with the blur, grading, and saturation of the cameras, it's pretty easy to pick the Samsung out of the group :P
*Have you updated your Galaxy S20 Ultra?* because Galaxy S20+ has received an update and it is better than S20 Ultra in cameras
I am so amazed by the iPhone now.... Thinking how the 12 pro will perform
i wonder about the 14 pro
Lol it's a little far away and Maybe Apple jumps off it like 9......But within the next few months we will be seeing iPhone 12 pro

Considering how many wins the Samsung had, and knowing the fact it's still got issues bug wise so it can be fixed, Surely Samsung wins
@@another2160 Nah, because Deep Fusion requires the A13 chip to process pics. I've the Z Flip which is about the S10+ quality. Also, the iPhone 12 is coming in September, pretty sure it's gonna crush Samsung again. It's good to have competition and to know that no matter if you have a Samsung or an iPhone, this video proved that they all take good pictures and videos.
Samsung's 108 MP camera should not be used under low light. If you shot with its default 12 megapixels, S20 Ultra also would beat out Iphone & Pixel at night shots al well.
We were using the 12MP mode for lpwlight and night shots. It actually won't let you use 108 in night mode.
Love the unbiased video! Best review I've seen in a while.
Why does everyone keep reviewing the ultra. It's not the model most people are interested in buying and is not really worth comparing to these smaller phones. It's huge and overpriced and not practical for most high end users. We need to be comparing these to the S20 regular/plus line.
For me:
S20: 13
Pixel: 9
iPhone: 7
Samsung smokes this competition, fortunately we also have Xiaomi, Huawei & Oppo

Great comparison, Thanks for doing this! I tested myself and while I didn't pick many of the ones you all did... I picked the S20 more than anything. Rather surprising how improved the new camera is compared to other Galaxy models.
Great video it really shows how samsung needs to improve software and a little bit of hardware in hopefully the note20
One of the best photo comparison vids out there! Great job guys, especially as once again you're one of the only creators to try a set of moving object photos. My Samsung phones have always been terrible with motion blur and with young kids' birthday parties indoors, this is a big issue

I currently have both phone the iPhone Pro Max and the Galaxy S20 Ultra , I am an iPhone user but I just wanted to test the new Galaxy and I really can't get myself out of the iPhone , the Galaxy is nice but I am do used to the iPhone that I can't really let it go

Job well done 👏
The night mode of the S20 Ultra in other channels wasn't that bad,,
Yes, indeed. Also, both iPhone and Pixel 4 horribly overexposing photos. Color accuracy is just absurd. If the guy says "it was completely black" , and then we have something with like late twilight skies, bright blue or whitish, it seems kinda artificial to me.

Great video guys!👏👏Your camera comparisons are my favorite.
my score:
9for the S20
8for the 11Pro
8for the Pixel 4
It's really funny how different reviewers taking similar situation pics and outcomes are totaly different :)
ikr! But these guys actually took the time to take multiple pictures and went with the best result they got out of it...just like people do in real life! Like...who the heck takes a single family picture? People usually take 10+ and pick 1 or 2 out of them,
They're not ducks. They're geese.
this comparison is definitely in the top tier of all what's out in RUclips!
This was a great and honest comparison. Not many other reviewers do what you guys just did. Thanks for the blind comparisons. The best!!!!

Honestly I wish you clarified if you were using the full 108 mp on the s20 ultra or the binning with 12 mp. binning with 12 mp makes a massive difference at night mode.
You actually can’t use the full 108 MP mode for night shots. It’s automatically disabled at least in the latest software update (which we were using) so yes binning was enabled.
the only thing id do with a samsung s20 ultra is zooming in from an airplane lol
i would zoom in into a plane window from the ground
That was a fantastic comparison. And in my cases, my opinion matched Vadim’s!
This review clearly shows you really don't know how to use the S20 Ultra cameras, especially when you it comes to the night mode.
@@MaxTechOfficial i have seen many reviews and their night mode photos where waaaay better so I wonder why yours was different
Max Tech thanks for replying, good to know. This guy is salty just because the Ultra didn’t win every round. Legit anyone could have any one of these 3 phones and be completely satisfied. They all have their strengths.
@@lntg Well you are entitled to your opinion. I only said i was surprised their's did look bad.
If the standard 12mp was used for night shots the S20 would have easily won. I do however understand that a software update is needed to fix that auto focus issue.
The standard 12 MP was used.

Ayush Sharma the problem is, samsung has always been bad at updating software :/
By the time they find a fix for the software, they would have already released another flag ship :(
Michael Angelo Apostol true just like they thought bixby will takeover google assistant! Also I hate when companies release new phone every 6 months, Right now OnePlus and Apple do the phone introduction and software support process the best. Though Samsung is leaps and bounds ahead in Hardware department. But, One Ui is step in right direction and it can be seen they care. They need to be responsive and have better software support as since they promise 2 year android update, atleast push that on time ffs Samy.

For you iPhone guys that want night mode on your other lenses download NeuralCam, it is definitely worth its $5.
You do a blind test, i was confused before, but since look at selfie part, i know all of the three instantly, specially for Pixel.

I like the format - seeing unmarked photos and getting his feedback before revealing which camera took it.
I mean all cameras look great. I love Samsung camera since the 7 edge (which was amazing)
If iPhone won with just photos . If they start make a video comparison iPhone would obliterate both Samsung and pixel out of water lmao 😂
Absolutely
In the day time its not that much, in the dark it is.
@Sebby 94 The iPhone 11 Pro can shoot 4k60 EDR (120fps bracketed sampled video) on all it's cameras
The S20 Ultra on the other hand can only do 4k60 HDR10+ on it's rear camera and the feature is still in beta (it's still in beta on the note 10 too). Only doing plain old SDR on it's other cameras
shows that you're a sheep and have not seen any comparison video, you can shoot at 4k 60 from both front camera and back camera (primary and ultra wide), it has better audio recording (watch danny winget's video) and it has better stabilization.
Also if has 8k 24fps, not gonna get used frequently but good to have
@@nishantdesai3705 No, it shows that you're an unintelligent sheep blinded by your fanboy-ism and couldn't notice the iPhone has clearly better dynamic range and processing in it's 4k video as most reviews have said
Also I never said the s20 couldn't shoot 60fps on all it's cameras, it just can only do HDR10+ on it's main rear camera. Switching to other cameras on the phone will yield worse dynamic range compared to the iPhone that supports EDR on all it's cameras
I had the s20 ultra for about a month but it didn’t live to my expectations I sold it and whent back to iPhone 11 Pro Max
In day time 12 mp and in lowlight 108 yeah of course fair test
No. We did 12MP binning at night. It doesn’t allow you to do night mode photos with the 108MP mode.
@@nesune4401 Isn't the binning mode selected by default?
@@GratiaCountryman I like the idea that it'll force other makers to try as well, so we'll have good 8K capabilities in a couple of years. Even if you don't video edit your footage and care about encoding, it's garbage-in-garbage-out with RUclips. 8K footage well taken should look better at lower compressions.

I really like the way Apple handles photos and so it wins in my view on color temperature and color management. Some S20 shots were really good, but the very shallow DoF really creates problems in a lot of cases, suprisingly also in shots where you'd like to have DoF, like a photographer who only shoots on f1.4.
