I have both and you can't go wrong with both. But one thing I seriously hate about the Samsung phone that they need to fix now is the shutter lag and the oversaturation and beauty mode. If they can tone that down it would be great. Shutter lag is what causes a lot of blurry or unsharp images in pets and moving kids. I love the natural color of the pixel in their still image only. Everything else I prefer the s22 ultra. I like having a lot of features on my s22 ultra
I used to have a S22U and the shutter lag is precisely why I got a Pixel. However recently I read there's a new "camera assistant" with a faster shutter option on the S22U. Have you tried that?
Damn is this still a problem? I am at my wits end with my S21 Ultra. With kids now it can't capture any movement worth a lick. Even now it actually took a full second to snap a photo (the low HD space probably didn't help) but the shutter lag has been an issue from day one. Had to basically move to pro mode which is a nuisance when you constantly have to tinker with the settings depending on the lighting around you. Might have to look into the Pixel 7 Pro instead.
Just watched thanks. Was planning on picking up one of these referb for a phone upgrade. Great and detailed comparison. On a side note the phone market is a racket like the new car industry.
Excellent Comparison I thought Pixel Natural colorful saturations & also the Zoom details are my Fav. The only disappointment from Both unites is in Portrait mode= No Buy for me!! Thank you Again!
As always outstanding Both cameras are great in my opinion. Thanks for another clear video that easily shows which camera performs better in a certain area.
I remember trying to decide between these two and ultimately went with the Pixel. It's pretty much a wash, with each having pros and cons and both excellent choices.
Thank you for this video comparison. I currently have the Samsung Note 20 Ultra and the camera is crappy compared to my sisters' Samsung S10. Our trip to Alaska, her photos out did mine every time for colour quality, and in some cases also for clarity when cropping. Now I have the opportunity to upgrade and it is between the Pixel 7 Pro and the S22 Ultra; however, I need a cell camera as a point & shoot because sometimes that's all I have time for. I can enhance and edit afterwards but I want a decent photo to start with and the Pixel 7 Pro seems to have better daytime clarity whereas the S22 Ultra seems to do better night shots. I like photos that crop well and keep image detail on first take. Cropping with too much noise can be grainy but Samsung softens everything and cropping can make it fuzzy. I have no need for selfies and rarely use the front camera unless I video talk with someone; again not too important to me. I'm concerned about the quality of the rear camera(s) because I've had such a lousy 2+ yrs with the Note 20 Ultra camera. I use my camera a lot, I had a DSLR but lost it in a fire and haven't replaced. I know cell phone cameras don't compete with most DSLR's but I need one that comes close. After this review, others I have watched and comments on all of the videos I'm going with the Pixel 7 Pro. The shutter lag mentioned in comments here and the lack of speed when focusing (even my Note 20 Ultra struggles) means you could lose out on a great shot. Also, mentioned in another video was the poor battery in the Samsung S22 Ultra compared to the Pixel 7 Pro, sometimes a difference in half a day depending on what you are doing. I notice that my Note 20 Ultra now has to be plugged in about 7-8pm because of low battery as I'm on FB, and RUclips watching videos more than before.
@@GrantLikesTech yeah pixel 7 pro does have contrasty exposures I like both of them but I do like a pixel 7 pro a little bit better as far as the overall experience, the minus the S pen
Great comparison vid, thanks! What I didnt get though, when you turn on and off hdr on the pixel 7 pro, is it that the s22 ultra doesn't have hdr, or is it always on? Hdr really takes the pixel's videos to the next level.
Pixel photography is awesome in my opinion. Except zoom s22 ultra stands nowhere in front of pixel. The details, dynamic range, white balance WOW . A lot of ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ To pixel.
Thank you for this video. I think the pixel 7 pro's pics and vids are so much better than the Samsung and I have been a long time user. The Samsungs problem is clearly over saturation and clarity, but I suspect the S22U will be better on every way, except pics and vids. I suspect Samsung will address this and the S23U and Pixel 8 pro will be far closer in cameras, but likely the S23U will be better in all other ways. It serms like Pixel's only offering has been great pics and vids. Too bad they didn't make a true flagship phone with a better chip, ram and screen, rather than be a one dimensional camera pony, but does it superbly. I also suspect Google cheaps out on great hardware to offer a much lower price, but I would rather pay similar and have a complete phone, but no right/wrong.
This test was done with which Android on the S22 Ultra? Because mine, after it ran for Android 13, I don't think it's as efficient in photos taken at night as it was on Android 12.
Strange that the 22 is cooler than the 7 outdoors in 4K video, but in stills the 22 is warmer... In good light, the 22 extra zoom is very valuabke fir travelling light without a standard zoom digital camera like a Canon or Sony.
I don't understand the constant comparing digital zooming of one brand vs optical zooming of the other brand. It makes no sense. Sense makes comparing optical between the two brands, and then comparing pushing past optical range into digital range of the two brands. The comparisons shown are constantly comparing apples to oranges.
Ultimately, those that want the Pixel to "win" will have to cherry pick awfully hard, because ultimately the S22 has a better camera all around. Sharper, brighter, resolving more detail, better zooming, etc. The Pixel is great but it is not as good.
Recently got the pixel 7 pro for 836$ black Friday. But with Google Fi, the s22 ultra is selling for 700$, and pixel 7 pro for 600$. Should I get the s22 ultra?
Hey, why are so many people buying Samsung's S series? Technically always disappointing, faded photos, battery life far too short and constant color chipping on the case and frame. Speaker sound also way too thin. Apple and even more so Google have been better for years
@@aspj5132 Here we also have a real usage and a lot of photos. I have also seen Max Tech videos, or better to say blind comparison and Pixel wasn't doing well.

13:49 The Pixel 7 Pro's 4k video at night looks like an 80's vhs video camera 😂
One hundred percent agree!
But the price 😂
Dude amazing companion. I have subbed and look forward to any other camera comparisons because you do a comprehensive overview of everything
Thanks, appreciate it! I have a lot of camera comparisons already up on the channel already.
S22 Ultra for video and low light, Pixel 7 Pro for selfies and photos.
