- A Turkish Tres leches cake is a sponge cake-in some recipes, a butter cake-soaked in three kinds of milk: evaporated milk, condensed milk, and heavy cream. When butter is not used, the tres leches cake is very light with many air bubbles. Topped with whipped cream and caramel sauce.
Main ingredients: Cake base, evaporated milk, condensed milk, and heavy cream, and caramel sauce.
Here's what you'll neeed:
SPONGE CAKE:
4 egg yolks
1/3 cup sugar 65g
¼cup veg oil 50g
1/3cup whole milk 67g
1 tsp vanilla 5g
1 cup cake flour (100g)
1½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt 3g
4 egg whites
½ tsp lemon juice 3g
1/3 cup sugar 65g
Whipped Cream:
1½ cup whipping cream
Caramel Sauce:
1 cup sugar 200g
1/3 cup water
1 cup heavy cream
1 tsp vanilla 5g

I just made it and came out DELICIOUS !!!
Although the caramel's recipe isn't correct.
What you can do to make caramel is to add
1tbsp butter
1 cup sugar
After its rich caramel color, add
1 cup cream.
And voila.
Caramel's ready !!

Well, I made it yesterday and it was a massive success. It's not difficult to make AT ALL thanks to the marvellous directions!
Today it tastes even more fantastic ( the caramel got a little messy but as soon as you put the cream decorations on top it really saves the entire thing really) my friends and familly LOVED IT.

@@parwanazakhmi6319 no all are not same for Caramel sauce i use double cream and for cake layering time i used whipping cream....

Do you let the whipped cream cool before putting the caramel? It gets really messy. Whipped cream sticks to the caramel and everything mixes. 😫

hi can this be left under room temperature? for how many days? or should it be refrigerated always?
I'm thinking that "DOUBLE CREAM MILK" is whipping cream, correct? Because that's what you've got listed in the description, but just wanting to make sure. The piping of the whip cream on top with the dragging of the skewer through it makes for a WONDERFUL presentation! I reckon you could use a number of different recipes for the cake, but altogether what you put together sounds great! I would consider maybe using a spring form pan for a more dramatic presentation.

i heard it s actually south american or spanish, smth like that, but it became popular in Kosovo and Turkey via tv soap. i love this cake, i bought it many times in Turkish shops but I have never made it.

How long should I let it cool?? Also will the caramel sauce harden?
just made this cake, and everything was amazing!! except...the caramel sauce. Its really tricky to get right!! and in the end after trying to make it 5 times already. i gave up and ate the cake without the caramel sauce
The best way to get the caramel right is to make sure your cream is not cold, this is a trick they don't tell you. So your cream needs to be at room temperature before adding to the sugar otherwise it will harden and you can't work with it. I hope this tip helps.

Hi there. I had this wonderful dessert in Istanbul last year and loved it. My question is about the oil. I see some recipes don't use oil or butter in the cake but use more eggs... what is the reason for the oil in your recipe? Is it to give a better balance of flavour or is it for texture. Thank you for the video. :)
Hello, saw that the question wasn't answered, so I just wanted to give a little thought. Usually oil is added to make a cake a bit moist, and usually the Turkish women (the ones that I had a great pleasure to meet) were adding oil just to make the cake last a little longer (2-3 days). They were making really huge batches.
There might be any others reasons for adding oil, but that's my thought. Hope you will get more an authentic answer to your question.

Hi. Nice recipe. I just have a question. I made the same cake with the same recipe and almost the same mold. But my cake shrank a lot and became much more smaller than the mold size after cooling down. Is it normal or I failed some parts?
