I am 42. I skate 9 out of 10 days. Some times 2 times a day. The key is as always to keep your body in shape. More so the older you get. I mean there are pro athletes in many sports doing it at 40+ at the highest level. NBA, NHL and so on. If you want to do it you can. You just have to put the work in. My aim is to still flip down stairs when 60. I had a drinking spree for about 15 years when i did not skate. That is my only regret i life. Now i skate like 3 hours a day like a maniac to get them lost years back. Thanx for a great youtube channel.
45 and getting sober while starting to skate again. Lot's of work to do...but worth it. Goal is frontside grinds in the bowl. You old farts keep at it!
As a 46 year old who just stepped on a board again after 30 years, I find your channel super relatable since you have to juggle family, work, everyday life but find a way to skate.
im 17 and i already do skate everyday but i still love these videos Ben. They’re really relaxing and informative. Don’t ever stop making these videos they’re dope
Ben I am also 36 and I just got back into skating. I skated a religiously when I was 20+ years younger, and after watching a bunch of videos recently I got the itch to skate again. I thoroughly enjoy your videos, especially after seeing a couple of your videos geared towards “geriatric skaters” as you call them lol. I have a 2 and 7 year old, work nights and take care of the kids while mom is at work, so I can really relate to you. I hear you. I was fortunate to largely avoid opiates but from 16 to 22 I was heavily involved in the rest. Those are lost years. I believe loss is the best word to describe addiction. The longer you are on that path the more you lose. I got clean at 22 and it's been 14 years of continous sobriety since then. It hasn't always been easy but it's by far easier than active addiction. I hope the tapering off goes well and I hope you have support to stay off. It can only get better as you are already experiencing. I'm happy you took the time to share this:) 👍
What a great way to describe addiction. Your 14 years of sobriety is even more inspiration I can draw from you and your channel. Thanks for sharing(really didn't expect that) ADDICTION=LOSS OF EVERYTHING GOOD
You had me cheering out loud for you when you got the tailslide kickflip out, people on the tram looked at me strange, but they couldn't remove the stoke I felt & feel for you. You're an inspiration mate. 🤙
It’s great to see you shredding at 36. That tailslide kickflip out was awesome. Definitely a goal of mine. Keep it up. 👌🏼 I can’t wait to see what other awesome tech combos are to come.
Your a huge inspiration dude! So stoked to see your channel grow and i look forward to seeing your progression with your channel and skating no one makes in depth skate reviews and tutorials especially from an old skate farts perspective lol have a great weekend man! 🤙🏽🙏🏼
Quasi 8.0 + Indy 139 + Bones Reynolds + Bones Reds + Jessup Baker 8.0 + Thunder High Titanium + Spirefire Daewon 52mm 99 + Bones Swiss Ceramic 15 years ago I stopped skating at 7.5 + Destructo + Ricta Yellow core 54mm + Bones Swiss $70 CAD ones. I also went and got the shoes that mimicked my first shoes ever, the Jamie Thomas Emerica, but there are no shoes like the ones I used to skate with. My favourite of all time were my Guy Mariano Axion and I had some shoes called RECS, but everything changed to skinny shoes that hurt when I do a tre flip. Do you happen to be an aquarius?
I am really liking the Baker setup, I have never used Thunder and I definitely second your video. I even used each board not knowing which one i was using and I'd guess which one it was based on performance.. I really liked going from a 7.5 to an 8.0 deck, but thus far I like the baker... Kennedy 8.0
whenever i’ve been skating for 4 or 5 maybe even a couple more days in a row, that’s when i feel most comfortable on my board. everything seems to come so easy and you just feel so good being able to land tricks consistently. but the downside to skating that many days in a row is that you get worn out very quickly, after an hour or two. but that’s when you just have to figure out that happy medium and maybe try not skating as hard for 3 to 4 days til you’re really warmed up and feeling comfortable and then on day 5 or 6 do all your gnarliest stuff, because now there’s a better chance of you landing certain things because of how you’ve slowly warmed yourself up for the past few days. and man you got those tail kickflips down for sure! i wouldn’t even worry about that one! you slid a good amount and flipped out nicely pretty much every try!
I went from not skating to skating 6 days a week for 6 months. I feel it. Long bowl sessions crush me the next day. My flat ground game is not to strong yet so it doesn't beat me down that hard. Learning switch Ollie's broke me off.
Great video man. Thank you. From a 45 year old skater who has a good 2 hour session every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. One small thing: apparently you should not bounce that leg stretch at the end of this video but go in and out of stretches slowly like yoga or Thai Chi. But yeah the older we get the more we are going to need to stretch, especially after. It burns the lactic acid and decreases muscle stiffness.
Yeah making good content available on here is the best bet. You could teach us how to make ramps, rails, ledges etc. especially ones made sturdy and mobile. Only an idea though. Cheers from Aus
Hi again from Sydney Australia, I'm 46 this year and I skate to and from work and 2 to 5 hours on Saturdays slow but surely I will get better but I'm a long way off from being as good as you Ben. I feel if I have a break it's harder to warm up again lol but I'm committed to having fun and not sit on the side lines and watch. I hope you are still making videos until your old and gray. Lol
I do that 5 times thing as well, and usually it goes well. But, there are days where I end up punishing myself to get those 5. Nice work on the tailslide kickflip. Maybe put indepth tutorials on pateron and like quarterly giveaway of extra products, that keeps your shipping down to 4 times.
I have been thinking of putting up some content that I wouldn't necessarily put on RUclips but that may be of interest. I still think give aways won't work yet. It's the US shipping that will kill me. If I lived in the US it wouldn't be as bad because that's where a lot of my base is but shipping from Canada to the US isn't cheap.
Fair enough Ben, I tried for like 2 hours for fakie inward heel as it seems easier, and it was a lot of failure lol. You're a good dude man, I am sure you will figure something out for pateron.
In my opinion, I enjoy ALLLLLL the tricks you don't land. Don't think it's a waste of your video. I like to put it in the slowest speed and see how//why you got off balance. If it's a video ALL just landing, then it's not authentic ya know ? I respect fails, falls, and fun. KEEP IT UP ! ! ! ! !
I'll be 36 in two months. A skated hard (for me) on Saturday and am trying to learn how to drop in. I ate concrete a few times and am feeling it all over two days later, haha.
I am 27 and i was skating from 17 to 20, never be able to kickflip..just ollie over things and pop shove it. That's because i didn't have "pro" friends" who helped me to figure out what i was doing wrong, my friends were like me they barely can ollie. Now i wanna get back to skating and i noticed that i'm more aware of my movements and i know what i am doing wrong! Also when i was 17 we didn't have youtube videos that exlpains how to ollie etc.. Now it's more easier! I'm skating 3 times a week cuz i have to work 8 hours a week. I just want to learn to kickflip and grind on the rails! I don't know if it's possible to learn these things at 27 but imma try, i have so much energy, i'm not that old! Thank you for motivating me! Ps: you're good at skating, you know tricks and how to grind, i wish i can be a good skater and just go to the skatepark and not feel embarassed skating!
Keep it up. Your confidence will come. You deserve to be at the skate park as much as anybody! Maybe try going early when its just the older guys anyway. I always skate early.
@@bendegros I wish i could..the skatepark is 40 minutes aways from where i live 🙁 I only have a basketball field done also to skating and nobody goes there, so i always go there to practice! Today is the second day and i still can ollie high! I skated for 1 hour and now i'm tired af! I feel old 😂
I am the weekend skate worrier, with 3 kids, very hard for to do it everyday. However, I skate with my kids on the weekend, glad it became a family thing, even my wife can cruse around,
I also like to do tricks in sets! It must be a detail oriented, organized personality type of thing. Lol. But with my level, 3 of the basic tricks in a row is more realistic. Sometimes, I'll group two tricks together to save time. For instance, I'll work on front 50-50s going one way and back nose slides coming back. For your patreon perks, maybe give a discount on your modesty bibs when you start to sell merch. 😂 Or maybe you can give pointers to people who send you a clip of a trick they're working on.
I also do it in sets. Often a repeated line that I do over and over until its solid. Both the patreon ideas are good ones. Offering trick tips could work at this point but if it ever grew a lot bigger it could get overwhelming. I do however like to help when asked. I do have some ideas for "merch" someday. For now I will just carry on. One idea I had was to share opinions and experiences that may be more mature or controversial than I get into on the channel.
Can you post some tech specs on your camera and mic etc? It's amazing to look back 12 months and see how much everything has improved (especially your skating!)
I have been using the gopro Hero5 black since I started the channel. The only thing that changed was I got the Rode video Micro around last September and my sound quality improved dramatically.
48 year old curb jockey here. I skate 3-4 times a week, usually 7am-9am window for about 45-60 mins per session. I try to bike ride a few miles everyday as well as lots of daily push ups and planks. It's critical for me to get plenty of rest, water and clean food. I didn't take good care of myself when I was younger...
hurting knees suck a lot. I stopped skating because of a torn pcl and had a surgery on my other knee some years ago but for some reason, they do not cause too many problems, which I am thankful for. hope your knees get better, soon :)
They are feeling better. I just need to take it easy for a bit. Pain is a guide that should be listened too and I have a tendency to not listen until it yells at me.
I'm 37 and skate basically every day. Only 1-2 hard sessions a week though. My biggest issue is my ankles. I can't seem to keep them up to par. I battle sprained ankles every couple months. Oh well sk8 or die!
Hey! I am 36 years old (26 years on the board) and have the same issues with my ankles. What helped me a lot is to use the balance board everyday. Also stretching and wearing hi-top shoes helps me a alot to avoid spraining my ankles. I skate nike sb dunks for 18 years now and i can say that their sole prevents my ankles from rolling. The have very wide flat sole which sticks to the grip. Also doing physical excercises for my back, knees and ankles helps me a lot. My favourite sport next to skateboarding is mountainbiking. It a good and healthy constrast to skateboarding. Its strenghens your legs and you can skate better.
44yr old got my first board a coupla weeks ago, Ive ollied 100 to 300 times per day sence I got it baring 1 day, I had to switch to carpet cause I was getting beat up landing bad, I got protective gear on the way, I will admit my achillies tendon is sore from landing with my right heel off the edge. The determining factor probably has more to do with how much energy you have after work.
Interesting you do the 5 sets for each tricks routine because I do the exact same thing lol to keep my tricks on lock at 33. It is how I got my kickflips so good.
It sucks getting old hey.. Im 40 this year and I skate most days. I guess I could skate everyday but with kids/family work ect there just isnt enough hours in the week. I get stiff sore and my knees hurt but I love skating so much and gèt much more enjoyment out of it than going for a run. PS cool videos I have watched quite a few of them now ✌A U
I stopped skating around 20. Im 36 now and the other day I tried again and torn my calf muscle just pushing. I have knee pains and gained much weight since my 20s, I think I'm done. Not worth the risks for me.
34 myself sk8 every day after my 12 hour shift of work 5 days a week and sk8 7-8 hours a day on weekends my guess is im lucky don't diet properly don't work out and eat nothing but junk food not saying this to sound full of myself saying it because im slowly starting to feel more sluggish and lazy so my guess is its starting to catch up to me and im just hoping you can give me some advise on how you have the will power to work out eat healthy and still stay on top of your family life time for kids wife etc not to mention finding the time after all that to sk8 please drop me a line if you stumble across this and have the time in your busy a** life to reply and thank you for all the great content your killing it and are a great inspiration for all us older sk8ers
3:31 mad respect wow...at the age of late 30s too ((PROPS))..I AM 32 yrs old and I'm trying to get back to where I used to be (( I was as good as you))
I am 28 and have been skating for a year. I skated for about 4 years on and off when I was 10-14 years old. It is hard for me to skate every day consecutively. I get really worn out after 3 days straight. I get more worn out skating flatground than I do ledges or rails I have noticed. I have worked construction for 10 years and I think that has a lot to do with how worn I get. If I didn't work I believe I could skate everyday no problem.
You can at least push around town every day. I’m 45, so 4-5 real sessions a week is the max right now, which is great. I do Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as well, so I only have so much capacity in this old body.
Hey Ben, why don't you ever hit that weird looking sinking wall obstacle ? That thing looks like it would be fun to carve up and do some tricks coming off it.
Dude. im 24 been off the board about a year but always cruise to the store. I just had a few flat ground sessions and screwed up my lower back, healed went back out first shuvit just tottaly strained my lower back again. Ahh healing up still.
can you make a compareson(?) between your "Old" deck and the new one? (that you mentioned in that Clip.) I still have a lot of Controlissues.. and i dont wonna Wreck my New Pristene Deck.. if it issnt nessaccery! (Right now, im riding an Old deck.. in that case i dont even Know how old it is... i can see some Pressurecracks through the Griptape, and the Boltholes look like it gained some Water...Back in the Days. (it is Second Hand.. and i try to save as much Money i can.. cause it is realy expensive to buy new ones.. (50-60 Dollars) i wonna know, how much the condition of a board effects the Riding/Skating. that would be Great.
It sounds like your ready for a new deck but that's my opinion based on my preferences. You can just keep rising the old one until it's sawdust if you want. It does depend on your abilities to a certain degree. The more your ability goes up the more you will benefit from a new deck.
Ok. I will change it. It is also quite bendy. (I never used New Boards... All my expiriences are based on "Art"-Decks, from 2005-2012. (Decks with pictures on it an hanged on a Wall, for several Years... )
So many things come into play, you can't really say anything definitive. How fast is your cell regeneration (basically DNA setup), what's your physical disposition, what is your attitude like (PMA all day!), what kind of stuff do you skate (flatground isn't as cruel to your joints as 12-stairs), how is your restitution, "do you even yoga Bro?", What do you ingest, and I could go on and on. 43 years of age, skating since age 8 every day all day. To me it's all about the strategy of the snail; I go easy and stay in my lane (a little too much) in the hopes I will be able to skate forever. Currently nursing a torn achilles tendon, which I can NOT recommend trying out, but I keep telling myself that it'll pass just like all those other hefty injuries I've sustained from life, work and skating over the years.
You’re 36 but dude... you come across as at LEAST 42. I’m 29 and you feel like my elder lol. Must be what happens when you get saddled with a wife and a bunch of kids. I enjoy your channel, and you are a WAAAY better skater than me but watching you makes me realize my time is getting very limited with skating before “adulting” will largely get in the way... I’m scared! I need these kickflips NOW!!
Im 45 yrs old. I work graveyard. I skate 3 or 4 days a week after work in the morning 1 to 2 hr sessions. Or until i take a hard slam. Then im done for a bit. 😳
Nice one! I could never get the kick out of a tail slide. A short skate for me would be two hours 😄 I usually only skate on the weekends so I skate a lot when I can. I sometimes do a one hour skate’sess before work.... I really miss the openness of Van 😕 By the way, do you ever skate Whalley?
I skate every day at 50, often 3 to 4 hour sessions. I think it must be down to ability rather than age. A rubbery boned 36 year old has only been a adult for 18 years
I’m a personal trainer and I actually think that you should plan your gym workouts after your skate sessions. This could actually prevent injuries. I think you would want to be the ”freshest” when you step on to that board. Small tweaks like that could actually help in the long run. Not saying that to be a a**hole I just want to help and see you on your skateboard in your 50s. So why is that? Getting fatigued muscles before doing something demanding (like skateboarding) could actually work against your ligaments and muscles to protect your body when slipping/falling and so on. So if you can work out days when you are not skating or after the skate session will help you!
Between 37-40 I could almost skate every day, felt great. At 48, definitely not. Body does not respond well, any sessions over 1.5 hrs usually pay the price next day.
I state every day and I'm 44. I have been adding a work out routine recently but you can skate everyday. Can anyone go big everyday without getting hurt is the question?
By the way how are the Chris Joslin wheels doing I have the exact same ones V5 shape as you do...I have had a great time on this wheel....I would like to hear your perspective/opinion on these wheels
I'm back on my spits at the moment. I thought they were a great wheel on smooth concrete but too hard for anything else. I really love spitfire F4 classic shapes
Idk but I’m 44 and my tricks are way higher and cleaner then they were when I was 17. I think it’s the modern deck shape and all the access to information available now. Don’t get me wrong my ankles are trash now, sessions are short and recovery time is long🤣🤣
I had a compound fracture when I was 14. That was really bad. Two plates and ten screws in my forearm. I also had knee surgery for a torn miniscus about 4 years ago. That took six months before I could skate again and a year before the pain went away. You just have to be patient and know you will heal.
They are growing on me. I hated them at first. They are basically a durable cupsole that is very snug but super comfortable. The bulky heel messes with my heelflip form so that gets a thumbs down. I still need some more time on them.
Thanks for the response. I was considering getting a pair to skate but the heel made the shoe look more like a running shoe rather than a skate shoe, so I decided not to.
That's great man I'm sure it's also part of the reason you are able to keep such a great pace and recover quickly, plant based is the way to go! nice I'm 6'6 and looking to get back at skateboarding
Same here. I regret all those years drinking and getting fat.. I'm skating like crazy, and 42. (You're probably 43 now!)
Thanks!
..sounds like I've got to take better care of my Old Body, lol!
45 and getting sober while starting to skate again. Lot's of work to do...but worth it. Goal is frontside grinds in the bowl. You old farts keep at it!
I hear ya, clear as a Bell!
I'm doing just that. Coffee's No Sugar, 100% Sober, and 9 complete Skateboards.
I'm Friggin 0bsessed, lol!
i do 10 ollies and 10 shove its everyday when its not raining and kickflip holding a rail. landing primo is dangerous
Im 37 and female!
I do crossfit 5 years now,and now I learned skateboarding...I love it so much!..
As a 46 year old who just stepped on a board again after 30 years, I find your channel super relatable since you have to juggle family, work, everyday life but find a way to skate.

I'm 36 and I can't skate everyday, BUT I've been on methadone for the last 5 or 6 years and was a junkie for over a decade before that, so I was pretty much a zombie for over a decade and a lethargic piece of crap for 5 or 6 years(kinda still am),and actually digressed in skate skill pretty much the entire time up until about 2 years ago when I started to be healthy enough to get my "go-to's" back and am now working on progressing to the point of trying the same things I was trying before I traded the skate in for the syringe.
I'm not quite there yet because I'm having A LOT of trouble getting my pop back up to par(I don't expect to be able to pop like I could when I was 18 but I'd like to be able to get over a full size cone with ease again) because I accumulated some nasty ailments from being so unhealthy for so long(kidneys, liver, bladder, stomach,intestines- they're all fucked up) so it's hard for me to build muscle, and even harder to loose the silly spare tire that is making it hard to suck my legs up after the pop.
Been coming off the methadone for over a year now and am down to a dose lower than I've been in at least 5 years, and each time I dose down my skating improves(after the initial slight withdraw from said drop) and the improvements motivate me to drop more(so much so that i was "jumping the gun" for 3 months and trying to make these huge dose drops. I paid for that over effort in the end)
I use skating as my gauge to tell how the dose drop is effecting me, and lately my skating has been showing me that I'm getting close to normal and will be able to get off this nightmare train soon.
Every now and then I write something like this in a comment thread on a skate channel in hopes it might possibility steer someone off of a path of destruction.

What a great way to describe addiction.
Your 14 years of sobriety is even more inspiration I can draw from you and your channel. Thanks for sharing(really didn't expect that)
ADDICTION=LOSS OF EVERYTHING GOOD
Yup, Loss. In active addiction if you haven't lost something, you just haven't lost it YET.
Fair play, SK8EVERYTHING 4EVER. This is really good advice for people growing up.
Keep rippin!
You had me cheering out loud for you when you got the tailslide kickflip out,
people on the tram looked at me strange,
but they couldn't remove the stoke I felt & feel for you.
You're an inspiration mate. 🤙
I haven't skated in almost 20 years but I just ordered a complete and can't wait to mess around! Great video you still got it my dude ✌
Tail slide kickflip out was gnar man.
It’s great to see you shredding at 36. That tailslide kickflip out was awesome. Definitely a goal of mine. Keep it up. 👌🏼 I can’t wait to see what other awesome tech combos are to come.
Dude i'm not even gonna lie I think you're really cool. I really enjoy your videos man keep up the amazing work! :)
Best skate channel on yt by miles. Good honest down to earth skating, really an inspiration.
6 days in a row?? I'm almost 35 and I'm lucky if I can get 2-3 days a week to skate. Love your channel amigo
Thx for the motivation! I’m back to skating at 33!
Your a huge inspiration dude! So stoked to see your channel grow and i look forward to seeing your progression with your channel and skating no one makes in depth skate reviews and tutorials especially from an old skate farts perspective lol have a great weekend man! 🤙🏽🙏🏼
Dude, that last kickflip out was so sick!
Dude because of you I went out and bought 2 completes, one with Indy's and one with Thunders.... I am also an Orchid!
What are your current setups? Which one are you liking best at the moment?
Quasi 8.0 + Indy 139 + Bones Reynolds + Bones Reds + Jessup
Baker 8.0 + Thunder High Titanium + Spirefire Daewon 52mm 99 + Bones Swiss Ceramic
15 years ago I stopped skating at 7.5 + Destructo + Ricta Yellow core 54mm + Bones Swiss $70 CAD ones.
Kennedy 8.0
I'm one of those crazy Scorpios!
You got the titaniums:) Those must be light!
Dude this got me so hyped!
I like to to try and put videos out on Saturday mornings!
whenever i’ve been skating for 4 or 5 maybe even a couple more days in a row, that’s when i feel most comfortable on my board. everything seems to come so easy and you just feel so good being able to land tricks consistently. but the downside to skating that many days in a row is that you get worn out very quickly, after an hour or two. but that’s when you just have to figure out that happy medium and maybe try not skating as hard for 3 to 4 days til you’re really warmed up and feeling comfortable and then on day 5 or 6 do all your gnarliest stuff, because now there’s a better chance of you landing certain things because of how you’ve slowly warmed yourself up for the past few days.
and man you got those tail kickflips down for sure! i wouldn’t even worry about that one! you slid a good amount and flipped out nicely pretty much every try!
I am 43 and I skate most every day, sometimes two times a day during the vacation period. It kills my body though. xD
@Mark Andrew Skates cool, its comforting to know that there is other guys out skating on a regular basis without destroying their bodies! 😊👍
I went from not skating to skating 6 days a week for 6 months. I feel it. Long bowl sessions crush me the next day. My flat ground game is not to strong yet so it doesn't beat me down that hard. Learning switch Ollie's broke me off.
Did you get injured or just worn out?
Great video man. Thank you. From a 45 year old skater who has a good 2 hour session every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
One small thing: apparently you should not bounce that leg stretch at the end of this video but go in and out of stretches slowly like yoga or Thai Chi. But yeah the older we get the more we are going to need to stretch, especially after. It burns the lactic acid and decreases muscle stiffness.
Thanks Simon. I will keep that in mind and see if i can improve my form.
Yeah making good content available on here is the best bet. You could teach us how to make ramps, rails, ledges etc. especially ones made sturdy and mobile. Only an idea though. Cheers from Aus
So inspiring keep going!
Hi again from Sydney Australia,
I'm 46 this year and I skate to and from work and 2 to 5 hours on Saturdays slow but surely I will get better but I'm a long way off from being as good as you Ben.
I feel if I have a break it's harder to warm up again lol but I'm committed to having fun and not sit on the side lines and watch.
I hope you are still making videos until your old and gray. Lol
Love your videos man , keep up the good skating and videos ❤️
I feel old 😂
Summer skating really grinds you down, a day or two off is definitely needed
I am the weekend skate worrier, with 3 kids, very hard for to do it everyday. However, I skate with my kids on the weekend, glad it became a family thing, even my wife can cruse around,
Young skater but still learn here 🙏🏽
I also like to do tricks in sets!
Doesn't matter how old you are, just go fast and commit every try!
Love your videos man!
Modesty bib for the win!
I will become 30 this year and didn't skate for 7-8 years.
it is super tough to get back in!
the fear, the pain...
but it's fun :)
My knees have been hurting somethin fierce these last few days. Karma for bragging about skating so much!
hurting knees suck a lot.
I stopped skating because of a torn pcl and had a surgery on my other knee some years ago but for some reason, they do not cause too many problems, which I am thankful for.
hope your knees get better, soon :)
They are feeling better. I just need to take it easy for a bit. Pain is a guide that should be listened too and I have a tendency to not listen until it yells at me.
ya man
34 30pounds over weight I’ve got myself back on my board 3 times a week taking it day by day
Hope theres a Nyjah review coming our way!
These tre flips ! I have the feeling it's easier with speed but I can't commit
Well, shit.. I have no reason to not skate everyday now..We're the same age
Take care of those knees! They will blow out if your not conditioning them.
This is some psycho killer type sh** right here lol. Suuuuuper impressive ben!
You’re vids rock Ben. I’m 42 n try to skate at least weekly. FWIW my dad bod is just a little more beastly
Gotta watch some old Muska parts for some tailslide to fakie inspiration!
I got a new deck and they are feeling much better. That deck had a super wimpy tail.
The determining factor probably has more to do with how much energy you have after work.
you look late 20s.... u look fit 👍🏻 awesome u inspired me ❤️
Interesting you do the 5 sets for each tricks routine because I do the exact same thing lol to keep my tricks on lock at 33.
Ben Degros will do thanks so much
3:31 mad respect wow...at the age of late 30s too ((PROPS))..I AM 32 yrs old and I'm trying to get back to where I used to be (( I was as good as you))
I am 28 and have been skating for a year.
I find it wears me out too. Especially long days or bad traffic days.
Hey ben, could you review an Alien Workshop board? would be cool for the memories of the old workshop. Keep the good job, greetings from Venezuela!
I will see what I can do. It might be a while though. I can say I think they are still good decks. I used to ride them all the time around 2000
Ben Degros Alien had a stack team but I'm really feeling it the new AW 2.0. If you'd like to, try to get an AW deck when you need a new one
feriruzu and how is the concave? I really hate flat boards
You can at least push around town every day. I’m 45, so 4-5 real sessions a week is the max right now, which is great. I do Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as well, so I only have so much capacity in this old body.
older skater also. You should try some FP insoles they are a feet saver
I hope i can skate for the rest of my life haha. I stretch daily before and after i skate to keep my body physically ready
yoga ! 45 started this year and i skate whenever its dry... but then i also do yoga.
Ahh healing up still.
great vids and skating.
I hope it gets better.
You barely sweat look like you have really low body fat. Love watching your videos you have a nice smooth style.
Thank you:)
That"im getting a stitch" part was hilarious.
I must admit that you have a nice nollie inward heelflips 😍
your nollie inward heels go so high
an hour or a couple 5 days straight works for me. hmm, not on 10-2pm where the sun shines so bad here in the tropics.
can you make a compareson(?) between your "Old" deck and the new one?
(Decks with pictures on it an hanged on a Wall, for several Years... )
COOL! You're doing fine!
Dude im 27 just started back and my back is killing me.. Like i feel worked after only 2 hours.
“I’ll put on my modesty bib so u don’t see my curlies”
😂👍 insanely good
So many things come into play, you can't really say anything definitive.
I’m scared! I need these kickflips NOW!!
where do you live? background looks like the pacific north west?
Yup. Vancouver area.
great vid
I’m curious, do you know how tall that ledge is?.. it looks absolutely perfect!
I really miss the openness of Van 😕
By the way, do you ever skate Whalley?
I never go out to Whalley. I stick to Vancouver, Richmond, Ladner and Tsawwassen mostly.
43 and my tendons and my muscles are hurting if i skate too much..
I’m 44 skate as much as I can , key is to take breaks and eat a lot of foods good for joints .
Ben Degros i myself have never really been a spitfire guy but i would like to try them in the near future
Living in Scotland you don’t get to skate everyday unless you go to an indoor park
Idk but I’m 44 and my tricks are way higher and cleaner then they were when I was 17. I think it’s the modern deck shape and all the access to information available now. Don’t get me wrong my ankles are trash now, sessions are short and recovery time is long🤣🤣
I am 54 and I skate 5-7 days 7+ hours a week. I started again 2 months ago after a 40 year break. What's the problem?
As a 27 year old my longest stint was 14 days. I could not walk on my 15th day. Now I limit it to 5 or 6 day at most a week
That's a sane amount. We need those recovery days .Adult life generally has a way of granting us those against our will anyway.
Ben Degros yeah I’ve had quite a few lately
I think it was you that thought me backside 180 at. Tompson skatepark if it was you thanks
It was :) How are they coming along?
I never thought I will see you on youtube
Wanna skate again?
I will look you up:) Unless you find me first @ben degros
Ben Degros I found you
another cuestion, do you have any surgery because skating? hope not, if yes, how do you carry on?
I had a compound fracture when I was 14. That was really bad. Two plates and ten screws in my forearm. I also had knee surgery for a torn miniscus about 4 years ago. That took six months before I could skate again and a year before the pain went away. You just have to be patient and know you will heal.
there is a good topic for a video dude, gracias! saludos
back 3s giving you trouble then lofting those nollie inward heels. whats hard for different ppl boggles my mind.
I have never had backside 3s. Those and blunt fakies.
Are those Nyjah's shoes? What are your thoughts on them?
They are growing on me. I hated them at first. They are basically a durable cupsole that is very snug but super comfortable. The bulky heel messes with my heelflip form so that gets a thumbs down. I still need some more time on them.
Thanks for the response. I was considering getting a pair to skate but the heel made the shoe look more like a running shoe rather than a skate shoe, so I decided not to.
Hey man inspirational channel, what is your height by the way? and diet?
6 foot 1. Mostly vegan diet. No meat, eggs very rarely and trace amounts of dairy in the occasional baked good.
That's great man I'm sure it's also part of the reason you are able to keep such a great pace and recover quickly, plant based is the way to go! nice I'm 6'6 and looking to get back at skateboarding
YAS! (My favorite part)
YEEEEAAAAAAHHHHH.. I WAS SCREMING LIKE IF I WAS THERE AHAHAHAH GRATE YOU LANDED IT!
im 30 but once i fall i start getting better, at first i did hurt
Just subbed, Dude, thank you for making this. 32 yr old dude here, getting back into it. It's great...and awful.
