I’m new to rowing and so happy that I found Dark Horse rowing.
For the most part I was able to follow along. Had to speed up and slow down at times but was able to finish and I wasn’t dying at the end.
    Thanks for the great videos.

Just to answer the questions you posed at the end:
    1) It was relatively easy to maintain stroke rate with you. Although a few times my rate would dip one above or below but I chalk that up to being a newbie on the rower and was easily corrected.
    2) I found that at first I was using to much intensity or power and not relaxing into the rest when returning to catch. After a couple minutes I caught that and even though the pace quickened, I felt I could still recover when returning to catch. Thanks for a great warm up. I’ll be using this a lot as a warm up to practice maintaining pace.

Great video Shane. Thank you. I’m about to get back on the erg after a 4 year hiatus. Unfortunately at the age of 37 is suffered from Caudia Equina Syndrome. Very random (it didn’t happen whilst exercising btw). 2 x emergency spinal operations left me super cautious about my back and resulted in pretty much 4 years of sedentary lifestyle. Prior to all this I was regularly sub 23min for 6k - (22:28.4 PB) and almost sub 7min for 2k although never quite made it. I’m now 41 and it’s time for a change. Just been on holiday and discovered DH after a search about the SkiErg. I’ve watched a few of your videos; they are superb and have quite simply inspired me. You’ve got a new follower. My aim to take it steady for the first few weeks and focus on technique. Ill keep you posted 💪🏼👍🏻😬

A couple comments: 1) my butt hurts a bit after this. Not a lot but I feel it. Is that what SF means by "fatigued"? Not sure I'd consider this a warm up for a workout that had rowing in it. That said, I feel warm and ready because I've found the more I warm up my row, the faster and easier it flows in kinda a bell curve type deal. I think I'd cap this at around 5 min though for a true workout warm up. When I say "workout", I mean crossfit type of workout with rowing in it. I discovered DHR after watching a vid with Heppner and SF mixing it up. Awesome content. Perfect fit: both amazing people. 2) I'd encourage people to dissipate that lactic build up (if they have it-especially in glute/upper hammy area) through the body by continuing to row for another couple of minutes after the build. Seemed like SF was gonna do that but then started closing comments and stopped. Anyhow, great video as always. Thank you

Day three of my rowing-machine-journey. I love it so far! Yesterday and the day before I followed two of your technique-focussed 10-min workouts, followed by a good 100 strokes or so. I really wanna take my time to get get acquainted with the machine and the movement. Today, again, I followed a 10min-technique-video, and then this one here. I loved every bit of it, but I also feel like i could do a little bit more! If I feel like it - do you think I sould just go for as many strokes more as I feel like? Or should I rather undershoot than overshoot in the beginnig?

Hi. After completing this warm up, how long should we wait before commencing with the actual intended workout/race? 5min rest post warm up? 3? 10? I'm not sure and wondered if anyone could give me some pointers

I’m using the stamina body glider until I get the concept 2 rower...your thoughts?

If it's working for you, it's working for me. As long as you're able to get the workout in.

Sadly had to take a 10 second breather around the 27 stroke rate start. Just was getting sloppy in my form. Not sure if I made it better but finished as strong as I could.

I enjoyed this workout. I found it hard to match your SR on the lower SR's. I know you say height isn't a huge factor in rowing but I'm 5'1" so I almost have to stop after the release to match you...or that's an excuse and I'm just still getting used to the lower rates :)
