This is one of the best videos from Rammstein and at the same time one of the most difficult content to fully understand. The song is about Germany (Deutschland) and the band's feelings about their home country which has a rather violent history (not only in WW2). It is a kaleidoscope of scenes from 2000 years of German history (some more symbolic, others painfully accurate) and additionally some scenes that might happen in the future when archaeologists are searching for artefacts of German history.
The woman is Germania, played by the German actress Ruby Commey. Germania is not a literal person, but was a personification of Germany for centuries. All other main roles are played by the six members of Rammstein.
The scene when the monks seem to eat Germania references to the Thirty Year's War (1618-1648), which started as a religious war. As a result of that war - masses of people starved or died by plagues. And the church took what little they had left to live on.

Even for me as a German guy there were some details that I was not aware of.
Also the lyrics are explained a bit and the assumed reason for Rammstein to come out with this video. And there is an explanation why the video caused some harsh reactions BEFORE it was fully published.

Just a few hints:
The lady represents Germany (as shown in the credits "as Germania"). She also has the three colours of the German flag (black - red - gold).
The red light is from a German expression("rotter Faden"). In English like central theme accross multiple topics.
Then it shows few key historic events from Germany. Beginning with the Romans. In 9 AD, Arminius united several Germanic tribes and defeated three Roman legions in the battle of the Teutoburg Forest. In 16 AD, where the video starts, the Roman Empire tried the last time to punish and regain that territory.
As you see more scenes from other times, also dark history is shown. Like the church feasting on Germany on the backs of the common people, witch burnings and also the Nazis. Towards the end, things get shaky and the bad stuff is overcome (e.g. Nazis get shot).
There is a lot more to say though.

Look, man, you certainly get high on the sound that Rammstein does, but you at least delve a little deeper into what the video is about... This is a video of Germans with pain in their souls about their country, and how many nasty things their rulers did. If you want to delve into the meaning of this clip, I advise you to see an excellent analysis of a Russian writer who perfectly understands the whole story, and lives in a former German city that has become Russian.
