Tonight I followed yr directions and got them both to come out of the cage on their own and one sat on my lap and ate a carrot and the other came out and readily ate the carrot. I could not pat him or he'd run so I was patient and happy with the progress I got

So when I got my guniea pig I didn't know I was supposed to leave him alone until now and interacted with him straight away and I don't know if I'm supposed to leave him alone now or keep socializing with him

I’ve rescued 2 girls who will not at all come to the food. I have sat holding it as still as can be for over an hour each day. They will not come for the food at all. I’ve never known this before and it’s baffling me
@@GuineaPigglesI’ve had them for a year now they come out every day for lap time! They just will not take food or come running for the food when in the cage. I also have 2 boys who I’ve had for 2 years and they come running up for their food and never have an issue taking it from me. The girls just won’t have any of it at all. That’s why I’m so baffled by it because they are used to being held and used to us and come out daily but they won’t take food
You'll need to be really patient with them and it may take some time but just try holding a lettuce leaf out to them and keep still. Don't move it towards them but let them come to the food and keep still while they're eating it. Do this for a couple of weeks or until you feel they are becoming more confident and brave. Then you could try just stroking the piggy's nose gently as they're eating but this may take some time. Also spend some time with them on your lap each day - maybe 10 minutes, and be quiet and gentle with them. This will help a lot too. I hope that's helpful for you and let me know how you get on.

@@GuineaPiggles Funny enough, I tried a long piece of lettuce again after commenting and they finally came out and ate some of it while I was holding it through the bars of their pen!
