⚠️UPDATE ⚠️: Bought a new fan and it fixed the problem as well. Low fan turns on at 208°. It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED buying a new fan. I believe the resistor took a 💩causing it to over charge and burn the 🐷 tail
@@Theviralrepostsu think u could help me out with the part number I’m having to is issue myself and I’ve already been burnt by a mechanic so imma just do it myself 😅 is it the same connector for 14 5.0?
To my understanding, the wires tend to burn when the size is too small. From the looks of it, those might be a 16 gauge or a 14 gauge, maybe you might want to bump it up to a 10 or 12 gauge with an aftermarket connector on both ends? It will keep it from burning. It’s all about the “amperage draw”
Definitely the amperage! From my understanding, the resistor (if that’s what it is) in the fan is going out causing the wire to burn out. Replacing the connector and the fan should do the trick but if it doesn’t, I’m going to see how bumping up the gauge will hold over.
Spend the 75 bucks and get the motorcraft plug. Theres a difference. The wires are a thicker gauge and its better made. Youll be replacing that amazon or ebay plug after 1 summer of warm temps, if that melted plug doenst break the fan too. Crimp connectors suck too. I would use solder splice connectors
I agree with you that motorcraft is the better option. On the contrary, since this video (knock on wood) I have not had any issues with the plug nor the fan in a 2 year span. I also live in a state with a very hot climate
The resistors go bad. And cause high amps thus burning wires and connectors. Im blaming my local car wash apparently the resistors dont like being blasted with water while theyre hot.
@@shsk8880 I bought an aftermarket fan plug and spliced it in to existing wiring. If you need more info I can elaborate. The replacement plug was like $25 from autozone I think
So I noticed that the plug was burnt up. So I decided to take the resistor out (what it plugs into) and it was also burn up. And the resistor was broke. So I'm confident that the resistor is the problem for these
@@LoganScott.just ran into this with my 3.7 bro I got the same plug off eBay and a whole new fan cuz my connector was burnt up too too in the same spot I don’t know how to wire so hopefully when the fan gets here I cleaned off the connection already and will try to use the old plug just till I can get to the shop down the street and have them splice and cut the old one and use the new one this is my cars first real issue beside a small coolant leak I had a long time ago
@@S197_rexx if you feel comfortable taking it to a shop, most definitely go that route. Personally, I followed the connection points from the old plug and replicated it to the new plug when splicing it in.
@@LoganScott. update : I replaced the fan topped it off with some coolant cuz I also bought a new reservoir cuz the old one had a pinhole in it so it was seeping air also causing it to overheat but today the fan came I already had connectors and everything undid for when it got here , took me about 15 minutes to do it and they say online it’s two bolts it’s a third bolt at the bottom looks like ac lines but i have the new connector also it came today but the car hasn’t overheated I did a couple pulls nothing and I didn’t change the plug but i do have it on standby just in case it wants to do it and I mess around and just replace it anyway
I feel you. This was an annoying problem to fix. Replaced the connector first and when that burnt out days later, I replaced the fan and connector together and it fixed the issue. I found the resistor went bad in the middle of the fan. I don’t remember if there is a fuse or a relay for this but check to ensure those are in good working order as well
@@LoganScott. the female connection is completely fried and melted. I had to order a new one and warranty rhe fan. It's all good for now since it's cold out. Still gotta keep an eye out though.

You don't need a whole fan. Just buy the resistor.
@@Theviralreposts its $140 for a replacement, just do the whole thing. the motor goes bad just as often and its piece of mind

Did you say your normal operating temperature was in the 220’s?
212°-220° on a hot day. It’s roughly 100° where I’m at and it stayed around 212° on a 15 minute drive on the freeway

Do you have to replace the plug or can you only replace the fan
I did both bc my plug melted
They use the same fan and harness on 2005-2009 mustangs. I'm having the exact same issue
I didn’t know that! Thanks brotha! I hope you’re able to get everything all figured out. I ended up replacing the harness and the fan.

Going for a swim 🏊
I went through a similar situation but I ended up replacing the radiator by installing an aluminum radiator and haven't had any problems yet.
Would love to get a bigger one!
Love your content man...Do you know where I could get seats or seat covers from? I have a s197 like yours.

So if your fan doesn't turn on when a.c it's on that mean the fan its broke???
It’s possible! Your fan kicks on when the A.C is on
@LoganScott. I replace the fan now working but those coonection get fried that's wired....... I have to clean up the contact before put new fan
Good video. Thanks for making it!

Been watching the channel for a while can you remember what front bumper you have and where you got it from thanks‼️
You’re awesome bro 🤟. The bumper is a OEM front bumper with a roush front lip and a custom front splitter. In addition with Amazon support rods
This was my exact problem on my 2011 5.0
It must be a common issue between the two models.

Correct. Once I replaced the entire fan + the resistor (that’s on the back side of it), the problems went away.
