@roncrafty8274 Well, I hope a video drops about this very soon from Julie. But, I believe you can apply various marketing strategies and guides from her recent videos based on the genre and your ability to make them work. For example, this tutorial can be applied to any book that's not a self-help or educational book but other non-fiction books. So, if yours is a non-fiction book featured in a movie, I think you can apply her strategy on Goodreads.

As always thanks for the informative video. I have meandered through the Goodreads site but did not spend time to fully understand how to use it for my book. I will now re-explore and set up an account. Thanks, and all the best.
I just joined Goodreads to get a feel for the platform...and of course added books to my "to read list." I was pleased to see plenty of books in our category and will be looking forward to giveaways. Great detailed video.

Well, that's so energetic. Are you going to Goodreads with all of your strengths and minds, or are you personally working on developing a website for yourself for some reasons?

@brrryan2908 Yeah. She has done an incredible job. She did explain how Goodread works and how to make good use of it. I can see that Goodreads is not for EVERY author but for those whose audience can be found on the platform. But as for you, is Goodreads a good fit for your book when it's published? Or, will you be planning to develop your own website, perhaps now or later?

My experience on goodreads: 1. You should review others books (this is content you may reuse later, can also lead to getting discovered, someday, maybe) 2. Reading up elsewhere, good reads give aways are no longer a good thing. Were maybe 3-5 years ago. 3. Goodreads is all that remains of blog linking and you CAN post on goodread and CAN develop followers 4. So when I do my amazon ebook free giveaways (KU) I post the link on goodreads. But I can't track how many downloads come from goodreads. I think goodreads is languishing. The font is super tiny. I had not much luck finding discussions to follow and interact with. Basically amazon COULD turn goodreads into a really powerful tool but has not. But at least they have not killed it. They should 1. Give selected authors/"librarians" editorial rights 2. Greatly encourage writers to blog 3. Encourage debate in threaded discussions 4. Support it all by selling advertizing to authors and publishers.
This is such a great perspective! We are still finding some value in the giveaways but agreed - the one I did in 2013 was MUCH more effective than the giveaways we do now. I love your plans for it - can you get them to do that?!
@@BookLaunchers Probably not, unfortunately. Why would they listen to me? Everything amazon does is designed to generate revenue. Even though its obvious to me a better platform attracts more advertizers that might not be the case, and why should they take chances?
I love your videos. I'm a new author but I just wrote my first fiction book. You keep saying that these tips are for nonfiction authors. Does it translate either way, or should I not even bother listening?
Thank you Julie! This video was extremely helpful.

So much great content! Thank you Julie!📖👍
Julie, my book (not released yet) is being made into a movie . Do you have any videos concerning this?📖🎥🎬

@darlamondragon718 That's awesome. Seems you really want to devour Julie's Goodreads strategy this time.
@awe_ebenezer hi, I sure have!

Excellent info as usual! I'm not at this stage yet, but It's good to look ahead. :)

I'm curious to know which stage you are as an author?
@@awe_ebenezer I'm at the early stages of compiling content. Julie has shown that there's a LOT to do after I have a rough draft of the content.

@@BookLaunchers they could (and should) make it more like a wikipedia. goodreads website design isneither attractive nor intuitive to use.
I love your videos. I'm a new author but I just wrote my first fiction book. You keep saying that these tips are for nonfiction authors. Does it translate either way, or should I not even bother listening?
Plenty of our audience applies it to fiction - I always just remind people because there are nuances!
Is it possible to create a Goodreads Author Page before your book is published?
If it's loaded for presale you can!
HI! Is there an optimal time for the first giveaway? Maybe in the first month after the book is published?
We always do one the first month and then usually every six months.
From my experience, it's a waste of time. People sign up to every giveaway possible, even if it's not their genre.
What kind of books do you write?
