I deleted my goodreads account two months ago, no regrets. I decided to go offline with my book tracking and started a book journal, which Im having so much fun with! I bought a small portable color printer that I can print book covers with an adhesive backing. As I read books I create a page in my journal with a scrapbook type layout. I like having something that’s more of a long term keepsake. 💜
I love that idea and I think about trying it out, too. I heard people also love this methode because it helps with reflecting on a book for longer and not forgetting it that fast. Just one question. Where do you leave your reviews from now on? Do you use a certain app? On just Amazon?
I love the idea of a book journal, but I don’t think it will sit well with me because on how much books I read (and since I see people spend hours working on it (which is hard for an author to do (X.R. Balzan))), but I find the idea amazing.
I love book covers! They are what sometimes draw me to a book. May I ask, what web-site do you go to? I’ve tried to find a site that will let me print them out, but to no avail 😢 I also keep a journal. The covers would be an awesome addition!!
You hit the nail on the head of why goodreads is terrible: it’s owned by Amazon so there’s no good rea(d)son for it to be as bad as it is. I occasionally consult them as a resource because their catalogue is unmatched, but that’s about it. I use storygraph, the main failing with it I think is that it’s harder to use for people who are reading books not in English. But I will check out fable, which I downloaded but haven’t really used! I love DATA so that is always a draw for me!! Tentative 💜, I am not reliable though 🙃
I'm not sure how Fable is, but one thing goodreads is good for and keeps me with them is their international titles or info on non English-written books. I read a fair bit of Danish books and have only ever had to add books to GR twice in the last 8 years or so.
One of the bigger issues I have with goodreads is the rating. I don’t like that I can only rate a book a 3 or 4 or 5. I have read books that I would not rate a 5, but it doesn’t rate a 4 either. I feel like the average rating displayed on goodreads isn’t accurate.
I can’t believe I didn’t mention this in the video!! YES totally agree!!! On Fable and I think storygraph as well, you can give quarter star ratings, which is awesome.

And even if you are friends with someone, the onus is on you to not be rude and respect the friendship and boundaries. No, British people are NOT stuck up, full of themselves, or think they are above you. British people, if you talk to them are very much the opposite: some of the nicest, friendliest, most diwn to earth people you will ever meet, if a tad pessimistic and ibsessed with the weather. I think that the point i am getting tk is that the internet has made us all wirse and more obnoxious. I long fir a time where i actually have to ask, if i know you, what you are thinking, and to i have to have that relationship be there in lrder to di that. Brits are very much about relationship by association, as well as respectability. They are loyal as long as youre not ab adshole, but if you go in the wring direction they will drop you like a heavy stone. There js something admirable about this no bull shit approach.
I am on the autistic spectrum, and tend to notice these things.
Anyway, giid riddance fir getting rid of social media. I habe had enough of other people and their opinions.
I can’t do Goodreads; it’s so horrible to use, it’s super clunky, and it looks way too busy and old fashioned. I much prefer StoryGraph.
Looking forward to the book club 💜
I HATE cancel culture. I consider it snotty and petty. That said, I joined Story Graph this year. I liked the import feature and love the graph features. It's fun to watch my own reading trends. Otherwise, I'm not really impressed with Storygraph On your advice, I just signed up on Fable. At first blush, it looks really interesting. I hope they have an import feature. We'll see how that unfolds. I'm still hanging with Goodreads for the heavy hitting though. I read 150(ish) books a year. I like their volume.
Definitely! 💜
Yes to the book club 💜📚🥳
I'd love to discuss books with you!
💜 I am definitely interested in the book club.
I've heard good things about Fable.
I’m using it exclusively now and I’m loving it!
To me books are not social. Don’t need to k ow or care what anyone else is reading🤷🏼♀️
I love fable. It is very intuitive and I know it uses AI but the features are interactive and very funny.
I really enjoy it!!
I just followed you on Fable and here 📚
Thanks!! I’ll follow back

Yes let’s go book club 💜📕✨
💜--I'm interested
Have you guys ever heard of Skoob? It's my favorite book social media by a far.
No I haven’t!! I’ll check it out! Thanks 😊
I agree completely 💜
💜 I would love to join a book club with you! I also want to check into Fable. I just recently moved over to storygraph for the content warnings. Does Fable have content warnings?
Oooo I don’t know actually. When you go to rate and review, there is a place where you can add them in, but I’m not sure if there’s a place you can view them without clicking on individual reviews.
Yes they do! When you write a review, it has these label bubbles (i guess that's how to explain it), that you can select.
Thanks for recommending
Bookworm is cute
Yup GR is bad, especially for book clubs. I wish there was a data export so i could migrate. And ... 💜
ooh. asked and answered
subbed and added! ❤ yay for ditching GR! 🎉
Yay, so glad you’re here!
Purple heart
I stopped using Goodreads because I just stopped caring about reviews lol
Haha fair enough!
