This is inspiring as everything in the corporate and financial world is unstable. By first switching up to Self Publishing I feel the next stage of Self Distribution makes sense. If we are prepared for a drastic change and already established, even on a very small scale, we could survive and thrive. Thanks Julie this was actually comforting,

Thanks for all the helpful info you are always providing. I can't wait to learn more about how to sell directly to readers profitably. I want to do it so I can build an email list, but the shipping cost of a paperback is more than the cover price of the book for me, so I'm relying solely on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, and Apple right now for order fulfillment.
I have some options coming up for you!! I've shot a bunch of videos on ways you can sell direct. We've now shifted how we are doing it but we're smoothing out the edges on how we do it before I shoot a video on that but you'll have those details by mid-January.

You bet - I have a lot of videos coming out for you on that in the next eight weeks!
This is another great avenue for the INDIE author to investigate. I'm finishing my 3rd book and I have been thinking about this. I have bits and pieces of what you presented here, I just need to tie them up in a bow and have at it. First things first - finishing my book! Thank you and I will for sure be reviewing this video and others you have and will post about self-publishing.
The ONLY reason I publish through Amazon is for low printing and shipping cost and ease. NO ONE I have contacted even comes close to their price per book. All this info is great but who prints cost effective books in the US?
We're testing Book Vault. Ingram Spark also now has a sell-direct option that isn't crazy expensive. There are trade-offs with every choice. I have three videos in the queue on the different options. They will be coming out end of December, early January.

Thanks so much! I have been working on this and adding PDF versions of books to my website. Right now mostly the medium content stuff since I'm still a bit perplexed on selling the long content non-fiction that way. Please keep talking about this because it's really hard to find good info on direct selling for Indie authors.
Have you checked out Book Funnel? I like them for delivering secure PDF versions of your book that are more device friendly.

If you sell books directly from your website, how would readers be posting reviews for the books?
You can still encourage reviews on Amazon - they don't have to buy the book from Amazon to review it. There are trade offs to going direct which is why it's important to know what your most important goals are.
