It has been quite a few years since you posted this, but I just found it in 2022! This is a great technique and I love the idea of using the white pigment ink to enhance the bokeh effect. Great idea!
While I've done a bit with bokeh techniques, I've never seen anything so easy as this! Thanks for the tip about creating your own stencil. I've come across that idea from other crafters, but never quite remember to do it myself, so that's a good reminder. I'll definitely pin this video for future reference on this technique! Thanks so much for sharing!
This Bokeh effect is really pretty!!! and your cards are very pretty also. Thanks for the ideas. Also I hadn't paid too much attention but I guess I have trouble with my quick stik too. lol!
I wanted to learn how to do the bokeh technique and found your tutorial first. I liked it immediately, but also looked at another video. I think your technique is by far the prettiest and conveys the technique, or effect, of bokeh. Love it! (And I saved a piece of acetate from a stamp set, knowing it would come in handy sometime. It just did, for the circle template. Yay!)
I am soooo happy and appreciative of you for doing this video. It has answered so many of my questions and the card and technique are awesome. I've always wanted to try this bokeh technique and now I will especially with your homemade stencil: love that. Thank you so much and I'll be looking for more of your videos. You definitely have an artful way of instructing us.
Hi Dawn! Love this technique and I’m going to try it. I’m watercolor challenged but I think I can manage, I think. I’m terrible at sequin placement too, but I keep trying. I have found this to be the easiest way to glue them down: Marvy Jewel Picker along with Nuvo adhesive. I use another tool in my other hand to help push the sequin down. If your Picker stops working properly, just clean tips lightly with a baby wipe.I use the Nuvo because it’s a fine tip adhesive and less sticky on the fingers. That’s it for me, thx so much for sharing your cards, I love the look!
This is the best video for this technique that I’ve seen so far! Your work is beautiful and you are super fun to listen to, with your ghetto stencil 😂😂😂
What a wonderful technique! Thank you for sharing it. I have had a pick-up tool for a couple of years and it still gives me problems. Because I have tremors, I prefer to use a sharp pick. I lightly press it onto a sequin and it picks it up and puts it down like a dream... without my having to place my shaky fingers anywhere near the sequin and smearing the adhesive.
Beautiful card! You can use the end of your quickie stick, it come off, to push the sequin off of th sticky part of the stick so you do not have to use your finger.
These are gorgeous Dawn! I love the depth. Did you know, you can take the back of the Quiker Picker upper tool and use it to keep things in place while you pull the tacky end away. It has a blunt flat end or a pokey pointy end for tiny things. Thanks for your great videos. I love that you explain as you go. =D
I know this was so long ago but the pick up stick thing comes apart and the pointy end allows you to push off the sequin from the sticky end much easier...hope this helps
Lovely cards . Just a heads up , the pointy end of the pick up stick comes out and you use the point to hold down the sequin or whatever instead of your finger. . 🙂
oh sorry, can i ask a question ? what is called "sentiments stamp"? and how i can buy it to add a lovely text to my cards like this tutorial ?? Its wonderful but i think it very expensive
If you pull the sharp point side out of the pick then you grab from the sticky side and help anchor the sequin with the point, then it will not stick to your finger...not sure if you were aware that the point came out....cheer!
So so pretty I really want to try this one day If I want to do this exact same thing on a canvas, which canvas should I use? I would love to frame this that is why
I am going nuts trying to find different size solid round stamps. Would you mind telling me the company that makes them, also the stencil. Thank you. Your card is lovely.
The supplies she used are usually in the description of her videos, check the description in this one to see if she has listed the one you're looking for!
+Kalai K I don't think she included the palette, she probably didn't think anyone was interested in it 😅 you can try scouting Amazon though, they have a lot of different types of palettes, and there may be one that you're interested in
Thank you for publishing this tutorial! What kind of (blue) tape did you use at the beginning? It seems perfect - does not rip the paper ... I like it how you just did your own DIY stencils :-))
Hi there, this is Stephanie Clapper. I’m almost sure it’s painter’s tape. I use it for so many things in my craft room including die cutting. If it’s too tacky, just touch it to your hand or arm. Hope that helped. 😊
Wow.. I was really hoping you didn't say, "ghetto stencil".. my stampin up demonstrator made a stencil, much like this one but didn't reference it as such.. impressive. . May have let others view this..

Such pretty cards! And I love the ones where you don't have to worry about being precise. They're the most fun to create. TFS, Heather

This is the best video for this technique that I’ve seen so far! Your work is beautiful and you are super fun to listen to, with your ghetto stencil 😂😂😂
LOVE this Dawn, you really captured what Bokeh is supposed to look like!!! TFS and can't wait for the new products :)
I really love both of these cards!!
Excellent instruction! Love this variation of bokeh.
Such lovely backgrounds, and looks like fun, gotta try this right now. Thanks ever so much
Pretty cards! If you pull the other end of the Quick Stix tool & use them together you don't need to use your fingers.
Beautiful cards! I love your videos because of your honesty. I also have issues with my pick-up tool and sequins, but I keep on trying.
See the comments below...now I know how to actually use it! LOL Pull out the pointy stick and use it instead of your finger!

Loved this Bokeh look and I'm excited to try it. Thanks!
You can pull the pointy end of the quick stick tool out and use it to hold down the sequence instead of your finger. It keeps it from sticking to you.
You're a genius! 👏

Great cards! Thank you for sharing.
What we call that blue tap around corner ?
Could you use white paint that’s washed down a bit for the bokeh effect?
Very pretty! Thanks for sharing!
Lovely cards . Just a heads up , the pointy end of the pick up stick comes out and you use the point to hold down the sequin or whatever instead of your finger. . 🙂
