Hello Nina I love your new technique and I love your tags you did a beautiful job I hope that you're having a wonderful day hugs and much love always 😋💓🌈🌞🌷🌹☀️💞
I love this background style. There are 2 white stamp pads I can suggest to you that are great... one is the Umbrella crafts White Pigment ink pad and the other is he Memento Luxe "Wedding Dress" ink pad. Both are great!
The directions to the Staz On ink say to ink it before every use. So you are only inking it for what you are working on at the moment. It does go a little more quickly but it stays put like it says very well. Loved the video, learned something new, THANKS!
You used several products new to me as I have avoided ‘mixed media’ videos. I will have to open my mind to new techniques as these are truly beautiful. Thank you!
Thank you so much a Karen. You can also do this with a thin layer of white paint or gesso if you don’t have ink. Just don’t use too much paint. Happy Creating 💕
Hi Nina, These tags are so beautiful. Bokeh is a new technique for me. I am so glad you shared it with us. I can't wait to try it. One of the many things I love about your videos is you help us to look for possibilities everywhere (a paper pad's cover page for example). TFS!
I've never heard of this technique (or the word bokeh)! It certainly gives a beautiful effect and seemingly so easy too! Off to give it a go! 😀 Thank you once again for introducing me to yet another great way to create a beautiful background! 😁 xx
love your tags Nina...I had similar trouble with Staz On white & had to ink it every time I used it (grrrr)...now I do Bokeh by leaving the Oxides untreated & dabbing thru circles with a wet baby wipe & when done lifting the colour I heat set inks
Jenny Gee Thank you, I thought of making it this way but wasn`t quite sure. Now you confirmed my theory and I was very glad when I saw your comment :)) Thanks, Jenny!
Lovely tags this week. I love the bokeh technique as it gives a lovely blended back ground. I gave up with the stazon white ink pad, I just use white acrylic paint and a round blending tool, remembering to use light layers and build up the depth of colour.
(Referred to this video from your 2022 Valentine's Themed Bokeh video, which I loved!) Since I've viewed the recent video, I know that you are already familiar with Hero Arts Unicorn White, which is my favorite. 😊 This background is so dreamy and beautiful! And what a brilliant idea to recycle the cover of your mixed media pad. I will definitely be using this bokeh technique very soon! Janet💕
Lovely tags, I love using Distress Oxides, they blend so well! For white ink, I would recommend to try Hero Arts Unicorn White, not only does it have a great name ;) it also stamps well, is really juicy and covers great; I find it to be true white. It does stay wet a while, especially on paint or other non-porous surfaces, so be careful not to smear. I tend to dry it with a heat tool, which takes a while but does work.
I love this technique and last used it a while ago. I used a Brilliance white ink pad, by the way, and it seemed to work well. Thank you for sharing Nina. x
Wow Nina i love that Technique it looks like looks at raindrops with light behind them. Beautiful images. your right they are all gorgeous i would have a hard time choosing a favorite
You made reference to this video on the video you posted on Sunday. I so enjoyed that video and the bokeh technique. This video is absolutely stunning with those images from cover.
Thank you so much for sharing this technique!!! I’ve seen it done with colors of ink but never white. I LOVE the white bc it gives a truer impression of the bokeh of lights that happens in photography. I’m immediately about the StazOn white ink pad. I’ve had one for years that I’ve never used that is still in the package. And I have a reinker. I’m definitely doing this technique, so I may just us the reinker on my craft mat instead of an ink pad. Thank you so much for this tutorial! And I LOVE the images you used!!!! I’ll have to find some online somewhere! Stunning tags!!! Thank you so much!! Hugs!!
Thanks Leslie. This ink pad needs inking up after every single impression. The metallic gold and silver are the same and thats why they come with the reinkers as they wouldn’t work without them. I am not impressed with any of them and would certainly not buy them again. I’ve ordered the distress picket fence and I’ll let you know how I get on with that. 🤞it works much better 🤞 hugs xxx
Love your tags Nina. The bokeh technique makes a wonderful background. I'm looking forward to giving it a try. Love your focal images too, never know where you might find inspiration.
Another winner, they are all gorgeous. Loving the use of the lip gloss and if it works, why not, cosmetics can prove to be effective and somewhat cheaper than the 'real deal'. Tfs xo
Bokeh--wait, what? I had to look the term up...LOL...but it is a great technique! Job well done on the Bokeh tags---love the color/colours you chose. Such a nice size for the tags, also. Thank you for sharing your process once again, Ms. Nina, it seems that I am forever learning!!!
Beautiful artsy tags, I love the colourcombinations. I've made a bokeh background (quite some time ago) with my memento white inkpad, and it seemed to work fine. Great ideas Nina, thank you!
Hello Nina, I love your tags. I have never heard of this technique before. Another white ink pad you could use instead is distress ink picket fence or hero hues Unicorn white. TFS I hope you find my ink pad suggestions helpful.
Thanks so much for leaving this message Laura, it was very helpful. I have had my eye on the Distress Picket Fence, but up until your comment, no one had mentioned it. I’ve just ordered one which should be here tomorrow. I love the other distress inks and the oxides, so 🤞 xxx
These tags look so nice with the bokeh technique for the background. I always wondered if Vaseline would work as a sealer. Good to know that it works beautifully. Thanks, Nina. Think I will try it with some “coins.”
Happy New Year to you too. Glad you got inspired by this technique. It’s one of my favourites and I’ve used it in many projects since I published this video. Happy Creating ❤️
Definite thumbs up! I love the way these turned out. I've done the bokeh effect many times using a round sponge dauber with acrylic paint and love playing with the effect. I've even used the foam part that comes out of the curlers/rollers that women put in their hair? I don't know if you know what I mean but those worked well also. Hope to be able to play tonight with this effect. I too love the images you used and what a great way to recycle! I'll have to be on the look out for something like that!
You're welcome. I'm always trying to find alternatives that are budget friendly and the rollers worked well, the little hole in the middle even added depth :)

WOWWWW I lovvvvvvvvvvvvvvvve this idea!!!! What a classy and elegant looking tag!

Thanks Jackie. I’m going to try it with paint and gesso. The Stazon has gone in the bin!
I want to try this. I love the bokeh effect in photography. I like that the white circles are very pale and misty and not too solid looking.
Thanks Angie. Great to see you tried it with your £1 pigment ink pad. You achieved great results 💜
This is lovely! Thank you for taking your time to show us so many beautiful techniques!
