I just finished 3 pillow cases in silk following your steps and LOVED IT!!!! At first I had trouble understanding the measurements but forgot it was folded. Anyways, it was so easy and fast to make a simple and beautiful pillow case! It looks like I bought it at the store and the flap changes everything 😍😍

I am Astrid's grandma and she led me to your channel. You are doing so well with one exception. Please hold your rotary cutter down when you are cutting. The way you are holding it the blade will be cutting your sleeve or your skin. That is the only fear I have. Now for all the good -- You are a great teacher. Watched all the videos you posted and learned a few things from you. Been sewing for many years myself and love when new ideas and things can be learned. Great job with your telling it like it is and recommendations regarding how the patterns work and trying things on first. Your ideas are fresh and hopefully will give others out there motivation to learn or that push to at least try something new. As for me, I will continue to watch you and learn from you and see what else you have created for the new year. Thank you.

Hi Elizabeth! Thank you so much for all the kind words and the recommendation about my rotary cutter. I will definitely keep that in mind moving forward. I've heard so much from Astrid about you and what a wonderful sewer you are! I'd love to meet in person some day, as I'm sure I could learn so much from you as well. I really appreciate you following along on my RUclips channel and I hope you find lots of value from it

@@jessilous_closet Thank you for your reply. Do take a minute and watch this video "Make a "Kaleidoscope" Quilt with Jenny Doan of Missouri Star (Video Tutorial)" from Missouri Star Quilt. Jenny Doan is using a rotary cutter so see how she is using it. One thing I do is close it after each cut and lay the cutter blade side down on the cutting mat just for extra protection. Cut my nail once and my finger like a paper cut and decided that it would never happen again and so this is what I do for the extra protection and it has worked for me. I am right handed and put the cutter about 18 inches away which also helps each time. Not going to take any chances. I depend on that cutter, ruler and mat. Scissors, well not so much except to cut the little threads. So like I said before, I quilt and the Doan girls may give you some ideas. Thought the Kaleidoscope might interest you into trying a quilt for your bed. Just make sure it is cotton. I use wool batting myself and you can use buttons or tie the quilt. Astrid can give you my number if you need help.

@@elizabethstevens5143 I've fortunately never cut my hand, but I agree that taking precautions is important. Better safe than sorry. I've actually only made one quilt before! It was a baby quilt that I gifted to my friend and her newborn recently. I'd love to eventually make one for myself as well, but they are a surprisingly expensive to make haha One of these days I will definitely make one for my home.

I wish you all the best with your new adventure. Your are very well spoken and I like that your videos are serious without music, emojis etc. New Subscriber to all of your channels. I am a handbag maker using Cork fabric but need to venture into other types of sewing projects. It is difficult for me to make my bags using Cork competing with others who simply purchase already made bags at wholesale internationally only to resell them as 'handmade' in the USA at the different Artisan Shows that I do. Pop Ups seem like a new path for me. So I hope to start a new adventure too.

Hi! Thank you so much for the kind feedback. I truly appreciate it and am so glad that you’re enjoying my content! I totally understand the struggle. It can be very difficult to compete in any market as a handmade artisan. My best advice is to find YOUR audience. Sure there are people out there looking for the best price who maybe can’t afford or choose not to purchase handmade items, but there are also so many people looking to support small handmade businesses. You just have to find your people because there are so so many people out there who want to support you 💗

Thank you so much! I’ve actually never purchased fabric online, so I might not be of any help if you don’t live near me, but I do know of a good silk store in the LA fashion district called Fabrics & Fabrics. They do silk for $20/yrd and it’s really beautiful quality. If you’re ever in that area, I’d highly recommend checking it out!
