    Charmeuse silk sheets and pillows feel amazing on the skin. Their are different kinds of silk. Love silk sheets and sadly satin uses toxic formaldehyde and you cannot breathe properly due to toxic chemicals applied.
    Silk companies were on the East Coast in the 1800's and you can grow white mulberry trees to make silk using the silkworms. Silk is hypoallergenic and helps keep your skin healthy. Also allows your skin to breath and far less sweat.

      FitKat Style no problem and wish more people believed in how amazing silk feels on the skin and giving one a youthful appearance. I shaved off my scruffy beard.
      Plus it is like your whole body is being massaged by a dozen masseuses all at once while sleeping in silk sheets.

      Hi, can you tell me where the best pace to buy silk sheets? And pillowcases? Thanks!

    • @robrich8294
      @robrich8294 4 года назад +8

      lynn chong go on amazon searching for charmeuse silk sheets. The mommee weight of 19-22. The lower the number is thinner. If you were to buy 25 mommee Silk I heard one is more prone to sweat. 19-22 mm for silk sheets is preferred. I’d rather get 22 mommee.
      I coped this from google regarding mommee weight:
      In simplest terms, momme weight describes the weight of 100 yards of silk, 45 inches wide, in pounds. So, if a fabric is listed with a momme weight of 8mm, it means that 100 yards of the fabric weighs 8 pounds. Many silk dresses and other silk clothing items will be around 8mm in weight.

    Thanks for the review. Apart from cost, I hesitate to get silk because I’ve read about how cruel and unsustainable the process is for extracting the silk (I guess you can probably pay a lot more for more eco friendly silk, but I don’t have that kind of money!) I love the colour of the Teal pillowcase though.

      @@FionaC1 Interesting information thank you. Although the article also mentioned Mohair Fashion Bans & I think its quite a waste of a great Organic Product from an Animal that needs to be groomed anyway as part of its basic husbandry.
      My Parents had an Angora Billy Goat when I was a kid & they had to comb all his hair to keep him healthy.
      And if Sheep and Goats are being slaughtered regularly anyway, I dont understand the problem Vegans or Vegetarians have with using the product or it being a great Product featured in Fashion.
      The Abattoirs won't start closing down & people stop eating meat or feeding their dogs over a Designer Ban on Mohair, so why waste such a great product from a dead animal that would be killed anyway?
      It's like Deer Antlers and Goat Horns anf Treats for Dogs...
      The Animal already lost its horns anyway, why cant I give them to my dog?
      It's almost disrespectful to totally discard these great Animal Products over a Personal Philosophy, when the animal died anyway.

    • @FionaC1
      @FionaC1 4 года назад +6

      Bull Terror Silk worms weren’t “going to die anyway” - they are tortured to extract the silk. Also there is another way to get the silk without killing them. Animals killed for meat must be slaughtered humanely and the meat cannot be extracted without killing them so I’m afraid the analogy doesn’t quite fit

    • @bullterror5
      @bullterror5 4 года назад +2

      @@FionaC1
      Yeah Fiona, that's why I thanked you for the article & specifically commented on the Article's Reference to the Mohair Fashion Ban separately, because Silkworms dont need to have their Silk Haired Cocoons Combed or Pulled Regularly as part of their standard Animal Husbandry & Routine Care.
      Traditonally they die for humans to access their Silk Cocoons instead.
      So THANK YOU for sharing the link to the Article for Ethical Silk Producers...

    I’ve have a slip silk pillow case for over 2 years, definitely worth the $80 I take it everywhere I’m spending a night! I just ordered a satin pillowcase with a saying hair tie and satin sleeping mask, supposedly it’s better to stay cool than silk so I wanted to try it. Let’s see how it goes

  • @spieterman3065

    As soon as I started going CGM and I heard about silk I bought silk from a fabric store and made it into a pillowcase. It was definitely not cheap but the quality is amazing and it works great for frizz. I also bought a cheaper satin one, I think it's called a beautypillow? It feels a bit rough in comparison. Also I feel like the threads are bigger which makes it not as smooth. I generally use that one for one or two nights, only when the silk one is getting washed. The silk one feels softer and more natural. I generally just wash it with the rest of my sheets

    I purchased a pair of rather expensive silk cases. I love them and only hand washed them in cold water. They stayed silky and smooth for almost a year. Unfortunately, one got in with my sheets and went through a hot wash and dryer! The feel is very different now, with almost a rough texture. I did rewash it several times in cold water and air dried. It seemed to help but it really took a toll on it.

    • @fitkatstyle4388
      @fitkatstyle4388  5 лет назад +3

      That's good to know! I just can't A) hand wash and B) use cold for linens b/c of all the creams and drool 😆 and germs. I just really want to know I'm getting it clean before my face goes back on it! LOL. I only wash this one in a lingerie bag but do use warm. It's been washed probably 3-4x now. Fingers crossed.

      A Lingerie Bag is a great idea!
      Apparently Fabric Softener fixes that happening to the Silk, I have a few Hippy Silk Dresses from India & that happened to them, the Fabric Softener fixes it, but it's a really bad product for the washing machine & white vinegar is recommended as a safe alternative for regular use on other Fabric Types.

    • @mulliganstew72
      @mulliganstew72 Год назад

      I like to use use white vinegar instead of fabric softener. Some steam helps too. Both can help burn off residue That regular laundry soap leaves on the fabric. I can’t be bothered hand washing anything and wash everything silk and laundry mesh bags in the gentle cycle and then hang dry.

      So I would want to know are your putting your hair up in any other type of protective style, how long is it and how wavy is it. The looser the wave the more easily the heat of your body will reform it during the night and the new shape may be flattened like you're ironing it. In which case finding a method or two to refresh in the morning are going to be helpful.
