HI from Istanbul ,Turkey. our hearts goes out the People of America, we had devastating fires and floods last mouth here in Turkey and still trying to recover, we feel your pain, God help us all
Thank you for the videos. I live in Lockport/Mathews area and stayed in my home during Hurricane Ida. The longest day of my life. Going on day 10 and still no electricity in our area.
Hi from Raceland 👋. We still have no roof on the portion that was completely blown away so hopefully insurance well cooperate soon! All I have is a tarp over the rafters of my attic on the entire northside. We stayed as well & thank God we did b/c we would’ve lost everything. We were 14 of us here including 6grkids & 93yo mother-in-law. What a story I could write with that experience 😱.
Mann you guys were videoing directly in front our house when y’all were in holiday inn parking lot. The whole north side of my metal roof flew off in 1st round. We were catching rain in almost every room of my house. Glad y’all safe bro. God bless from Raceland La
This is absolutely terrifying. My concern is for those affected and also the terrified animals, who wouldn't be able to understand why or what is happening. Have MERCY, DEAR GOD.
0:24 Funny story about that R on the Dollar Tree. Ida didn’t take that off, it was a trucker that turned and accidentally damaged it with his corner in December 2020. They never got around to fixing it. They probably will now.
You’d think so but sadly they replaced with same thing. My guess is it would’ve taken too long and it was already long time without power. Shucks there are STILL areas without power…
I’m sorry the hurricane was bad but I’ve seen wayyyyy worse. People are hyping it up saying it was worse than Katrina, etc. it was definitely a hurricane but there’s more impressive footage out there. No one wants to say it for some reason. Thanks for filming.
A Cat 4 hurricane like Ida is more powerful than a Cat 3 like Katrina was, so strictly in terms of wind strength, Ida would be the more powerful storm of the two. There’s been just a few days since Hurricane Ida roared through, however. Search and rescue efforts are barely underway, so how many deaths and injuries there have been or are going to be, along with what the costs to repair all of the structural & infrastructure damages done will be can’t even be guessed at yet. With cell towers & electrical grids down in a widespread area, I expect it will take quite a while.
Luke 21:28 (ESV) Now when these things begin to take place, straighten up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” Luke 21:31 (ESV) So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that the kingdom of God is near.
@RebelFred I would say to you he is already here. He promised that the world 🌎 would see him no more. I bet that makes me even more nutty and delusional than you originally thought. But like Paul said. The end will be full of scoffers much like yourself asking where is the promise of his return. Romans 1:20-22 (NIV) 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools Call me the nut 🥜 and you will be my scoffing fool. Stay safe. 2 Peter 3:3-4 (ESV) 3 knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires. 4 They will say, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.”
If was going to have any work on the outside of my home would wait until after a hurricane . Then talk to the home owners that their home didn’t blow apart for contractors name .
Exactly how far were you from the eye, and do you know of any locations that received the advertised 150mph sustained winds, not to mention the claimed 175+mph gusts.
The eye passed directly over us. True reports of wind actually came from Port Fourchon, which were way over 150mph. It was clocked on a ship ( Laney. Chouest) stationed in the port, of 194 knots/223mph at its peak. If you google map the distance from port and head North - the eye pretty much went directly over La HWY 1 - bringing damages to the parishes/towns along the way.

Why are power lines in the USA above ground and on poles? Given the US's increasingly extreme weather it doesn't seem a very good idea. They look really ugly too. Power and telephone cables are nearly all buried underground in the UK plus we don't get such extremes of weather.

The winds that came after the eye wall had passed seemed more intense. The sound was awful - thank you for filming.
I was there in Mathews, as well, and the front side had significantly higher winds than the back-half of the eyewall.

Why do they have electric wires in the air?? almost all countries had them dig down before 1980 :)
There in the air in Australia too
If I remember correctly, it’s like six times more expensive to bury lines, so it isn’t done by default.
Burying lines is the dumbest idea humans have ever had. The only positive i can think of is nothing have to cut/kill trees. Though I'm sure they'd still do it for the paths of the wires.
