Wow, impressive! No more making the blur on my textures in PS 😅

Correct! And it's fast. Great for procedural textures too where you have no image linked.

Neat :) Wonder what this might be usefull for though .. fake waterpuddles normaly do not have that much blur going ... any ideas?

When you need it, you need it. It's an edge case. There has been a few situations where I needed to blur. Maybe I'll mock something up!

@@PolygonDivision looking forward to that :)

Very cool, i'm assuming it's faster than a osl shader aswell? or i dont even know how you would be able to compare speeds there really.

It's fast on my machine. I think it is faster, not to mention the ability to customize and not dive into Open Shader Language! Ick...

No way! I once heard from the RS team that it would be impossible, and no other render package has this feature. There it is.

There is always a way, grasshopper. Respond to Maxon ticket with this video :-) I think I asked for a blur node as well. This idea came to me just randomly from the 3D gods.

      Octane has OSL blur node.

@@ArchViz-4D Any renderer that supports OSL has access to the blur code. I think this technique I came up with is more versatile, faster and works better with bad geometry.

@@PolygonDivision Right, this OSL is very slow like bump to normal map OSL converter. Not all OSL's from Octane works fine in Redshift.

@@ArchViz-4D Yah, I sometimes get undesirable results. Its tough to troubleshoot. I just avoid OSL's. The only useful one I used was blur, but I also like the room projection map shader.

    Nice, I like it!

It seems not work with displacement unfortunately, I've ended up with a completely noisy edge.

I've not tried it with Displacement. It might not be fully supported.
