Apparently he is a decent dude. My ex told me a story that I have no idea if it is true, but she said Billy Idol was playing a show for disabled kids, put on by Neil Young (those are a real thing) and that all the kids were behind the stage, with the audience in front. She said Billy Idol was absolutely hammered, but said something like "This show is for the bloody kids! Turn it round!"and they played their part of the show with their backs to the audience and facing the kids. No idea if that is true, but I want to believe it. Drunk Billy Idol caring for the children is just something I want to believe in.

One reason this song hits so hard is we had already heard it earlier but didn't realize it. When Julia's sister makes her and Robbie kiss earlier in the movie the orchestra plays Grow Old With You! So at the end when this scene happens it's already familiar! That's called good film making!

Robbie became a professional songwriter. He is still married to Julia. They live in the same town where they first met, and then raised their family there. As for Glenn, he would have lost all his money in the stock market crash of 1987.
