Hannah Larmond Because despite the interview being obviously rehearsed and staged (That's not a criticism, it's just how a show like this works.) At the end, a truly sweet, compassionate, and loving surprise came out. Drew, who despite her past, is a really sweet person who has a heart of gold.
She was then given a hugely sweet and emotional gift that had to have reminded her of a beautiful moment from a wonderful film. Just, in a sense, like we were as on lookers. Her reaction is one of pure elation. She was shocked, awed, and obviously flattered by that song. When we as people, with hearts, see that we have no choice but to have this empathy of happiness that makes us tingly.
I know explanation can sometimes be detrimental to emotion but in this case, understanding it only seems to make it more endearing. In my opinion anyway.

If you havent ever looked up the history between the two of them it is so deep. They saved eachother in their dark moments and "the wedding singer" truly was the start of their beautiful friendship.
Before "The Wedding Singer", Drew had a very turbulent personal life, with stints in and out of rehab, and mostly cast in "rebel girl" roles because of her personal issues. I think Adam is partially the reason why Drew's career saw a resurgence in adulthood.
Actually I don't know the history, is there like a documentary or book I can read about it? That sounds so interesting.
@@gammarazor7798 Drew Barrymore's memoir, Wildflower, talks about the first time they met after she was basically beg, borrow, steal a contact to talk to Sandler but there was this radio interview where she puts down all the rumours they were sleeping with other because it was like above that - Sandler treated her like a lady and she responded by seeing him as a friend but also an inspiriation and then bought it to the films. That's the power of inner beauty and the best thing about when a man and woman fall in love (not lust and you don't need to have sex to be in love): two opposites making magic happen by improving each other.

She cried because it was unexpected. They had not rehearsed it in advance with the rest of the song and Adam & Jimmy added it to surprise her.
The song is special to her because when it was performed in the movie, it was her first time ever hearing the song! Her emotions in the film were real and not acted.

It's no doubt that the song "grow old with you" mean something to them. It was a very emotional moment for both Adam and Drew. You can hear Adam's voice at the end when he says "Drewy" and the quick "thank you" right after. Drew wanted to break down but she hold it. There's no doubt they do love each other, but only they know why they aren't together.

I met Adam Sandler at a restaurant several years ago. Just as nice a guy as you'll ever meet and not your typical Hollywood type at all.
A friend of mine went to a Hawaiian resort that adam was also staying at. He said he was just like your average dude. They hung out for a bit by the pool and had some drinks. Definitely super down to earth.

Sometimes I wonder how their husbands and wife's feel when Adam and Drew lover make out or sing love songs to each other.
I think in the type of industry that they are in, it is understandable the kind of relationships they will have with their coworkers. I am not saying that they are going to cheat but their is just that understanding that they do this for public attention. You have to wonder what the fuck happened, I mean these 2 are successful, attractive and compatible (looking from the outside of course, we don't know them in real life, just their characters) but you can feel they have chemistry. So WTF happened?.... was Adam never attractive to her or vice versa?.... Adam has been with his wife for almost 20 years. She's actually got a cameo in every movie of his now. They actually met on the set of Deuce Bigalow which was filming at the same time as Wedding Singer (her friend was Rob and Adam paid a visit to the set to his friend). She plays the woman who's closet is being done in Blended, a dentist assistant in 50 First Dates opening montage, etc. That's the icky time Drew was married to Tom Green. Drew is just one of them people who develops serious bonds with people that are deep and enriching like the best little sister (to Adam) ever. They are 10 years apart in age too, so that probably has a little something to do with it. She was early 20's when she did Wedding Singer.
