Funny, I just watched your review video! Switchbacks and XL bikes = always a challenge LOL. My buddy Corey rides a medium and is always saying "that's going to be tight for you" HA! This trail looks amazing!
I feel you, my girlfriend on M frame is always like yeah you can fit easily in there, meanwhile me having XXL barely making it alive on blue tight berms, always harder for me than pure enduro or red/black trails with larger speeds and largerradius on berms.
I love those kinds of switchbacks. Endo turns become essential w long wheels bases. Great riding and alloy bikes really ride quiet. Solo riding backcountry allows for a more personal experience with the environment for sure. Love riding with others, but I end up riding alone more often than not. Busy schedules rarely match up.
Your thoughts on how it feels to be riding in the “shoulder season”… exactly! Not to be dramatic but it does instill a slight feeling like something ominous is coming. Especially when you are “out there” and the air is a bit colder and the sun is a bit lower in I the sky…. Maybe something I ate in us? Great video. Would love to ride that trail.
This video is so amazing. The vistas! Thanks for the heads up on such a gorgeous spot. Loving the look of the new Troy. I had the last gen and had nothing but positive things to say about it. I'd be really interested to try the ST model. Seems like it could be a very fun and capable bike for long days ala the Tallboy. In some ways, short travel 29ers are even more fun on rowdy trails, provided the geo is on point.
I'm guessing this location probably doesn't clear from snow until mid summer? Bit of a drive from southeast WA, but gonna have to put this on a short list for next year; along with finding other goodies in Winthrop area.
This is an old Gopro Hero 7 with a Karma chest gimbal. I do quite a bit of work in post to get the footage to look as good as I can in Davinci Resolve. I leave it in the 4:3 so people can see the maximum view.
It's the Devinci man I'm telling you. Throw that Rockshox stuff on a different bike and it won't feel nearly as good. My last gen alloy troy was the same way.
I don’t consider this a privilege at all. Nothing is a bigger joke than “wilderness access”. You can trample a trail to death while perched on top of 1100 lbs. of horsie, but adventuring without leaving a mark is an issue. Complete bs. This is what mtb is really about.

I attempted this years ago, but snow got the better of us, cool to see the whole of it!
Yeah it's a solid back country ride!

Yes! 🙌🏻 I've felt it a handful of times now

Agreed, short travel bikes are so fun! I have a Trek Top Fuel right now and I'm just loving it.

Yeah, most likely around July. If you're in the Winthrop area this one is always worth considering!
I'm super curious about your video setup - this is unique footage.
Doubt I could replicate it, but knowing which camera you use would be great.

Great video. That looks like an incredible ride. Can you share roughly how long it took you to climb to the top?
www.strava.com/activities/12251620740 it looks like it took me 1:20 to make it to the top! So it can be like a 2 hour lap.

Dang, yeah it felt so killer! I’d love a 29er Troy!
@@johnsospencer Freehub let you throw a 9ner on the rear? If so i'd be super curious how that works out.
@@usurpedliberty9096 Unfortunately, I already returned the bike.
I´ve noticed you stayed with maxxis tires, was there something bad about the alberts for you, or did you have them borrowed just for the ride?
The Alberta so so good! These tires just came stock on this review bike. Not my bike!

BTW, I am in the PNW and this gem will be part of next season for sure.
Thanks for posting!
