EP 40 // I Test Schwalbe's Gnarliest Tires on ♢♢ Trails
I tried to use the new Schwalbe Shreddas on some tough wet terrain. The results were pretty awesome. I'm stoked to have this combo on my Shuttle AM. 🔥

I don't know y but this look like a video game
bad part is it got built
Sweet video brotha! What camera you using?
Thanks! This is a GoPro Hero 12 with Max Lens 2.0
That was incredible !!! What a hell of a trail!! Maybe in the future - 5 yrs ? Possibly add some light weight radials to my XP919 hardtail !
Hey Spencer, which pedals do you use?
Hey I ride the Chromag Pilots. I did a video on them if you look through my channel.
@ cool thanks! I thought I didn’t recognise them haha.
Spencer I’m coming off of an assegai and I ride mostly steep dry trails. I wanna get a radial tire, should I go for a Albert or a Mary, I don’t care what I weighs.
The Alberts should be great for the dry. Those tires are awesome. Maybe purple front orange back?
Man I’ve been running these on my ebike in Bellingham since they were released and I feel so validated right now haha! These tires are amazing. Also- it’s insane how quiet they are
They grip hard and really settle the bike out!
Can you test the latest Top Fuel ?
I did on the Freehub Channel!
I cracked the motor armour on my Rail on some spicy granite. I ordered a bashguard from Protect EMTB. Hopefully it saves the new motor armor.
That would be a nope from me. That tire looks like a 2.1”
I've had to replace mine a few times and they are a backside to work on
Would love to hear how you feel the Yeti 160e and this bike compares in the steep PNW tech
The frames have both felt great. The brake spec on the pivot does make a massive difference. I like the simpler pivot suspension layout too.
Do PNW riders envy desert riders? Because man do I envy that you have trails like this. This is what I picture when I think mountain biking.
I envy Desert riders for a few weeks a year for sure! But I feel at home in the evergreens.
Haha not really! Went to Utah from the PNW recently and had fun, but missed the local steeps
You seem content with the front and rear as designed, whereas the few other people who have reviewed the Shredda seem to think the rear for both ends would be suitable. What are your thoughts on the front? Only worthy for extreme conditions, or would you run it all the time with the rear in back? Thanks for checking these tires out-I’ve been waiting for a thorough review of the shreddas since they came out.
They do feel slow in the cold on flatter trails. I don't think the tread would bother me, but potentially the rolling speed on flatter terrain might, but it's hard to tell how much of that is lower temps.

That's a good questions since I've only ridden it in extreme wet conditions so far. It's such a substantial casing that I'd have a hard time believing it wouldn't be decent on hardpack too. I do imagine you need a certain amount of weight pressing the tire into the ground to make it necessary. I'll follow up!
Happy holidays glad you got some shreddas to try finally.
🤟🏻
Nice review. I love the STFU, just be sure to make the zip ties as tight as possible to keep it out of the spokes. I had one on my old bike and when I got this new one I had to get STFU for this as well, even though it's a very quiet bike out of the box. I just like the feeling of not having the chain going all over the place.
Currently getting the Magic mary radials on my v10 and on the front of my heckler SL, gonna stick with the albert in the back for a bit, I liked them for loose over hard but anything loose on top it wanted to drift a bit. Hopefully the magic marys are epic.
Yes! My first two rides with the Radial Magic Mary's with trail casings were super promising in greasy conditions. I think that tire is going to be a go to.
@@SpencerAstraPOV Hell yeah, gonna give them a go tomorrow! Glad you're getting the goods up there!
Really great tires!
Indeed!
No brakes on roots, no matter how much you want to, I'm certainly sure you know that, I certainly know that but still have to fight my urge to do it. What are they like on wet roots vs wet slanted slab like rocks?
Pretty good on both. They really hooked up to rocks 🪨
I just put shredda rears on the front and rear of my ebike and was blown away. Right now by me is a mix of wet/snow/mud/frozen and it just gripped everywhere. Before I knew it inwas doing top speeds as if it was regular beautiful weather day and scaring myself haha.
The grip is immense 👌🏼
The bike color is 🤘
Agreed! 🔥 🔵
You rock. Thanks for the awesome content. What brake pads do you like most for the XTs XTRs? Cheers
Thanks! 🙏🏻 I’m just trying the Galfer purple rear/green front combo and they’re fantastic! Best yet I’d say.
@SpencerAstraPOV what a coincidence! I have them both in a cart, LOL. I'll go for it! 😁
I’m really stoked on the shredda rear as a front. Super curious about the new Mary. Radial casings are Neato
I’ve ridden the radial Marys twice now and that are amazing on the trail bike. 👌🏼
I have the radial MM (trail, ultra soft) on the front of my dreadnought and the shredda on the front of my repeater. Big Betty and Albert on the rear respectively. The radial MM has been fun - I'm not skilled enough to pick apart the details like Spencer but it feels good. All the usual magic mary goodness with what feels like more grip.
I’m running the radial Mary’s on my Levo. Extremely happy with them.
I'm running the Shredda R front/rear of my eeb and it's 🔥
Where is this trail? Would love to ride that!
Hey sorry, I can’t say the name/location of this one.
@supermolehunter1 if you move to this particular part of the pnw I'm sure someone would show you the trail eventually
WHOAH WHEN DID YOU SUDDENLY GET SO MANY SUBSCRIBERS??????
We’re just getting started! Maybe you slipped a decimal while riding the sub count
Hi, You mention you like 480 reach, so I was wondering how tall are you? Just not sure to size up or down
Just under 6’
@@SpencerAstraPOV thanks. We are the same height. Do you have any opinions on RAD sizing which would put us at 460 reach (182 x 2.5 =455) Rad sizing generally means you size down. It’s just I’m on cusp of buying a new bike and I can’t demo
So do you think a medium is better?
How tall are you?

Is that car or is his camera that good??!!
The grade 👌🏼
100% confirmed theory: spencer dosent go from his house to the trail, he actually lives in the trail and descends deeper every short
😂
Keep up the hard work
Cool ❤
PLEASE DONT GET HURT SPENCER! I know your a proffesional but judt incase get the best brakes possible
what camera do you use?😊
Go pro hero 12!
Your trails are awesome Spencer! Great riding. 😉
Thanks! 🙏🏻
Spencer, the almighty, has carved these paths with his hands, legs and cylinders of angry rubber.
Nice track
Thanks for all your work ... Love your reviews ... been following you on the other channel for several years now. Greatly appreciate it. One question and one small request ... How loud would you say the clunk is (is it noticable) from the Bosch motor on the AM (I'm assuming it is the Bosch CX Gen4). And the small request :) ... if you somehow get your hands on a SantaCruz Vala, PLEASE post up a review ASAP ... Would love to hear your thoughts on the bike and how it compares to the Shuttle AM. Thank you in advance ... keep the great content coming ... Happy Holidays!
I honestly haven’t noticed a clunk. Just some squealing after getting it fairly wet.
What state are we in here?
Washington
@ figures. Beautiful country northwest
Great quality video. Just 1 piece of advice take it or leave ut up tyou. Not sure if it's just because it's a reel but I would definitely up your shutter speed and FPS by 100% I personally use 48fps but this looks more like 24 i could be wrong. But just half the ND filter too to even it out. Looks quality other then that. Just the motion blur looks a tad snappy then blurred. 👊💙
oh no rider input on a bike😢
Is this in canada ?
No, Washington
Why is your camera so good what camera you got ?
Gopro 12 with max lens mod graded in resolve
Bro is a Scout Trooper on the forest moon of endor
Great one! Super excellent visually too! I do for sure get more upper body workout on my eeb and it feels So awesome getting back on the mebike
"Me bike" lol love it
Anyone else Carry a handgun when riding?
No.
No because misfires are dangerous
My cousin suggested I should. Just yesterday. Wild animals was her concern.
dude this is awesome, where is this trail?
South of Bellingham at Blanchard. It’s called “the horn” on Trailforks
@@SpencerAstraPOVthanks
Haven’t been in the horn in a long time. Sweet ride!
"Hollywood movie quality"ahh camera
Bro if im you am dead
Clean ash bro🔥🔥🔥
