I Played The Worst X-Men Game Ever Created. Today I decided to play X-Men Destiny to see if its as bad as everyone says it is. #xmen #wolverine #marvel
There's no way that game isn't the worst Xmen game ever. Destiny is not a great game, but it's hardly terrible. I found it a pretty easy game to platinum on PS3.
It was supposed to be a lot more expansive but the team faced a lot of budget cuts. Really unfortunate I think this game could’ve been something special
racism. which, let's be honest, does also kinda work like that in the real world. also, it's unfocussed racism due to how the setting is, and I recently seen an example on how mutant powers lottery is somewhat allyneated to neurodivergencies applied to the real world (storm with the power of controlling the weather and spazzing out in enclosed spaces like the highly functional that can calculate hard math instantly 'in exchange' of being unable to eat food when it touches each other in the plate, the kid that can explode once like the one that ripped his back apart because he didn't have his brain to stop his muscle from doing it, the guy with no face for a completely non verbal and barely interacting person)
Bad press. Fear. You got people at the very beginning like Magneto, The Brotherhood, Vanisher, who ran amok and caused chaos and they're mutants. The other heroes like Fantastic Four, Avengers, they're not mutants (in the beginning). Also it's the fear that mutants will overrun the human population and that humans will be replaced and people fear that.
People did hate other superheroes. It was more they just didn't focus on it as deeply as it didn't fit into the main plots as directly as it did the X-Men. Spiderman, The Avengers for example were hated by a large portion of people despite having many who loved them. There were in fact a lot of people who defended and cared about mutant kind, they were often just too afraid to speak up.
I think the guy during Aimi’s cutscene was a mutant named Sunfire. He’s a pretty cool character. I really wish they’d bring this concept for an X-men game back. I feel like it’d be one of the best marvel games ever if it was done properly
@@serPomizyeah fr cause I didn’t even think to connect the two until guy above said something Shame on me since sunfire was my main in X-men age of apocalypse 2
i remember when this was in gameinformer and it mentioned character creation and picking a side and whatever else and had me so hyped I picked it up immediately when it came out. Imagine my confusion when I had to pick one of three characters and the gameplay was garbage.
Compared to other bad X-Men games, Destiny isn't _that_ bad. It's just lazily put together. It's one of the few rare cases where the developer was the problem as well. Silicon Knights spread themselves too thin and took on the X-Men IP for the sole purpose of funding another game. My favorite behind the scenes story is how they haphazardly threw together a Juggernaut boss fight to show the Marvel execs and one of the coders was suggesting that instead of just having Juggernaut with a lifebar that you have to deplete, maybe throw in an objective that you have to damage his helmet so Emma can attack him telepathically. The team ignored him and after the Marvel execs saw the gameplay, they gave everyone on the dev team copies of the Marvel Encyclopedia.
I won’t cap I kinda like x men destiny honestly I need them to make it again but way better. The cutscenes reminded me of DCUO 😂😂😂 I was like those scenes look similar x men online confirmed I wish 😢.
Considering they got hacked not too long ago apparently an X-Men game was one of the things that got revaled to be planned to be developed during the hack
It isn't X-Men, it's just a Wolverine game. There might be cameos and stuff but the game is literally going to be called "Marvel: Wolverine", also Insomniac announced it WAY before they got hacked.
This game was the template for the games that came after yet they dropped the best part character creation build on that instead of the same tired story lines and played to death characters
I was actually friends with one of the lead Devs at SK back in the day. Really smart guy and really knew his stuff. Sadly the suits had their way with this and Too Human and you can really tell.
@@Ashmedai1974 facts, both games looked good but were ultimately trash, they hurt alot of people with these games, waited so long to pay full price for a PoS 🤦♂️
The story is that Silicon Knights was attempting to develop Eternal Darkness 2 at the same time as X-Men Destiny, and ED2 was their priority. They diverted staff away from X-Men Destiny to work on ED2, and the money they received from Activision to develop the game was also diverted to Eternal Darkness 2. Because of this, they couldn't complete X-Men Destiny as Silicon Knights originally planned, and asked Activision for more money. Silicon Knights went out of business shortly afterward, and Eternal Darkness 2 was never released.
I think some people just jump on it being bad cause of all the other bad crap that happened around the time. Like many other Marvel titles it was delisted when Disney started pulling the Marvel license from developers. The company basically went under and had to recall unsold physical copies from store shelves which had to be destroyed, because of legal issues between Silicon Knights and Epic Games over misuse of the Unreal Engine 3 code, which also affected their Too Human game which also had it's unsold physical copies recalled and destroyed.
I did heard when Insomniac got leak that they are planning an x-men game. Although I do wonder if it meant that another x-men character is getting their own game like wolverine. Gambit is very popular right now wouldn't mind if Gambit gets his own game.
While I understand that more people wanted to either customize their own character or play the original X-Men, X-Men: Destiny is pretty solid and far from the worst X-men game. Combat is fun, changing your powers around (it's been a while but there was some power customization) made for interesting gameplay, and the story was fine if a little predictable. The worst game for X-Men is easily the horrible Nintendo one, followed by the DOS game X-Men 2: Fall of the Muitants. X-Men: Destiny is LEAGUES ahead of those games.
it's not a BAD game. it's an underwhelming game, an early release of generation game. the 3 characters had some standard yet perfectly viable backstories, and good enough interaction through the story with the other characters. most power are satisfying to use. the enemies aren't many, but are different enough to add some significant variety in fights. grow the game is repetitive. somewhat shot, intended to be replayed multiple time, but there's just not enough the newer design are not good. an attempt to put the current-at-the-time style out of the paper and on screen. but those design were supposed to be grimy, not looking as good as the previous ones. these are just not good. the game was not ripe to release. the lat level is recycled, the final twist is dumb as hell, and some power, especially flight, just were NOT good, plus the amount of technical failures customization was superficial, little kids playing cosplay. hit-and-miss even in that, level far too closed and linear
If the game get remade, it needs remade reimagine, not a remaster XD at least if a overhaul extended cut, have present characters have skin/race/mutant color swaps choices, to cloths changes, and able to choose what powers the basic ones to the main ones.
This game was dope. You could deck out your character with different mutant powers and make them fly or have metal skin. Loved this game a lot, hopefully they make a sequel
Highly Doubt it the company died shortly after the release although I do hope the concept is further explored on in a later project like maybe insomacts X-men game
I honestly thought it was a fun game, but the only thing that ruined it for me, and all honesty was at the very end. It basically made it up the choices you made it didn’t matter. I thought it was going to play on what choices you made throughout the game to decide what side you were on but no, you could literally be making all of the evil and harmful choices, and still join the X-Men. That, and the fact that the background never really played much into the game as a whole.
This game really isn't that bad for what it was, if you honestly think this is the worst X-Men game ever made, you've obviously never played the LJN NES X-Men game, or the NES Wolverine game.
It got bad reviews because it was promised to have meaningful choices that would influence the storyline and the combat was basic and repetitive. Even then it's not even on the 10 worst X-Men games.
I never got to play this game but from what I remember think ppl said it was buggy and repetitive, also that legends was better. I could be wrong though
You clearly didn't play Uncanny Xmen on NES if they think Destiny is worse than that. The NES xmen game makes Destiny look like Game of the year by comparison.
Yeah it was overhyped to high hell, but the game we got wasn't the worst thing ever. It wa sjust kinda basic. I picked it up for cheap at Gamestop years ago, and found it find for the price I paid, but yeah I get how anyone who bought for 60 dollars would felt ripped off.
I disagree, not everyone hated it, I loved that game! I had to stop playing it cause I have seizures. So I had to give the game up, later on I found a doctor who said I could give games a try again cause mine were caused by rapid eye movement like games from foosball table! So I as giving a shot see which game I can or couldn't play.
Kinda funny dude saying how bad this game is than mentioned edge of time as if it was any better. That game was a clear major step down from everything that came before. Was also really bad compared to other superhero games that came out 2 years before and around the same time! Now it may have overshadowed destiny by hype but deff not because its a better game.
Actual character customization and free room could've saved this game
Yep
Here I was thinking he'd be playing The Uncanny X-men on the NES.
There's no way that game isn't the worst Xmen game ever. Destiny is not a great game, but it's hardly terrible. I found it a pretty easy game to platinum on PS3.
Destiny was a "meh" game, X-Men on NES was a downright abomination.
