I always put a momentary switch on floorboard next to clutch to the Jake brake on and off. I could hit switch with the side of my boot. It turned off the jakes till I could float the next gear. Beats that Jake noise every time you shift and people are yelling on the radio to turn off the Jakes before shift like a rookie.
that is a great idea I drove for a guy and he had a I believe it was a 1973 white tri axle dump truck and one of the sensors for the jake went bad and for a temporary fix he put a spring loaded push button on the shifter and I would just hold it in with my thumb when I needed the jake and then let off and down shift and push it again and so on so I didn’t have to keep flipping the switch on the dash and I ended up having him leave it that way
3 1/2 hours? Wow!

I love the story in rooster. I have a very similar story with a 1970 C10. I loved it from a young age and because the proud owner at 16. It is a truck that my son now loves just as much as I do so it will be passed down for generations I hope.

What is the benefit of 1000 horsepower in a truck and what loads require that much horsepower
You need to pour cocoa pop on the battery cable ends it will clean them off after you do that then pour water on them

Lucky, I was employed by a company and I hurt my shoulder. And Washington we have labored industries after the injury. I’ve been out of work for six years retraining because they won’t let me back on my old job due to my limitations.
35 years ago I saw a truck with cruse control. A dive bunged a smashed soda can under the heal of the throttle petal. He would smash it until he got to 60 mph. Just hit the throttle and bungee cord would pull the can out. 😮

Great content and been watching since the beginning but IMHO, the Quickest way to lose those watch minutes most RUclipsrs value so much is to charge a membership fee cause a lot of subs will just move to watching the next best channel that isn't membership based unless you have content that is second to none. Which means you might have to step up your game considerably which you said is your plan. Guess time will tell. ✌️🇺🇲

Hi Tim hey for those of us who drove back in the days before GPS and cellphones and we had to use road Atlases and phone booth and a lot of truck stops had phones by each booth could you do a video showing how the new E logs work and how you get the information out of them and what it looks like and what you can all find out from them and what you do with the information after you get it. back in the mid 80’s just before they started taking direct linkage from the foot throttle to the engine and it became computerized the company I drove for had mostly cabover peterbuilts just like Steve’s Orwell and they installed basically a tattletale it could somehow keep track of run time idle time and speed and not sure what else but those trucks didn’t have computers so I don’t know how they did it but they didn’t keep them long because the DOT started taking the info out at DOT inspections and firstly they started giving fines for speeding and over hours but the worst thing was the company spent the money putting them in so they could get the fleet fuel mileage average up but when the DOT uploaded it up it was gone and the company couldn’t get the information they were intended give them and the drivers were getting tickets so they took them back out

Don't if you like the stuff but, I drink the V8 Sparkling energy and dilute it with water to taste. Better than soda any day and not so bad for you as soda.

Talking about the dock head at that scale that shut down your driver just because he could and it felt good too his God complex. Another driver and I from the same company were making the same run three rounds a day hauling empty cans from the can plant in Baraboo Wisconsin too a canning factory in Janesville and the other guy had to pull into the weigh station by Madison and it had just stopped raining and he ran through a water puddle in the driveway too the scale and when he got to the scale the woman running the scale told him to go around back and wait for her to come out by him and when she came out she told him she was red tagging his semi truck with a airbrake system on it for a brake fluid leak and at first he laughed out loud he thought she was joking but she was dead serious so he went inside and used the phone too call dispatch now this was mid eighties before cellphones and they told him don’t argue with her and they were coming to get the truck with their wrecker and it turns out she was a rookie who never should have been by herself she saw red rusty water running out of the brake drums and ending up on the rims and she thought it was brake fluid so when the wrecker got by him they took pictures of everything including the puddle he went through and then hauled the rig back too the junkyard in Friesland and they documented everything and sent it too the DOT and told them what this stupid broad did and they apologized for her stupidity and paid all the expenses and sent her packing
