    This channel is a godsend for me, seriously. So much useful information that I’ve been longing for. Thanks a million!
    It would be amazing to see an episode focusing on lighting in a forest at night, or house exteriors at night on a budget.

      Oh bless your heart man! That means a ton coming from you after having rewatched your tutorials so often. My video "Joe Rogan Fanboys" actually wouldn't exist if it wasn't for you; I never intended to make a comedy video, it was just lighting test where I was experimenting with short lighting after you put out such an amazing guide on it. This is great. I come from Teradek's. This is really nice to have on smaller crew size. I would recommend getting an HDMI male to female dongle for the unit. To protect the HMDI hardwire for the unit since I have been on sets where HDMI gets broken inside wireless receivers. It sucks when that happens.

    Always a pleasure to watch some of your work dude, I personally went for the Acsoon wireless transmitter to avoid carrying NP's around (extra weight) and only use my phone, it's not perfect but I get away with it and I definitely agree with you, monitoring wirelessly gives you so many options to create such as pulling focus on yourself, by yourself, being away from the camera 👌Thank you for taking cinematography to this level bro, keep up with the great stuffs 👊🏼😉

      Thank you! :) absolutely that's fair enough on the weight, nice to keep everything a bit lighter! And it's pretty great being able to monitor just on a phone now too. For sure, what with everything going on at the moment I've been doing a lot of these videos just by myself and it's much nicer not having to squint across the room trying to check I'm in focus haha! Thank you so much for the kind words man, will do!! :)

      @@RobEllisCinematographer Those pieces of technology allow us to focus more on creativity at the end of the day, still being able to produce great visuals by ourselves. AHAHAH I know what it is to nail that focus by yourself without the right tools using broom, tripod or whatever ^^ it's probably something of this filmmaking journey that keeps the spark alive 😉

    Nice work. One of the drawbacks of these units are that the fans are a little noisy, and that can be bothersome when recording sync sound.

    Lol it’s always early Christmas for me when you upload!
    I’ll definitely have to look into this! I also do a lot of gimbal work so the chance of splitting the work of gimbal operating and focusing using a wireless follow focus and a transmitted monitor is super enticing!
    How is the battery life like with the Sony batteries? And how heavy is the transmitter? I’ve had my external monitor snap off the ball mount I use for my gimbal a few times so I have to be weary of how much weight load I put on it.
    Thank you again and I look forward to your next video!

    • @RobEllisCinematographer
      @RobEllisCinematographer  3 года назад

      Haha thanks man! :)
      Yeah it's a great thing to have, definitely when on a budget and someone is trying to see the monitor over your shoulder! Plus if you're shooting something like a music video, it's really good to be able say, give the rest of the band something to watch whilst you film an individual band member, etc.
      The battery life with the NPF's I haven't actually had a chance to test! But I think it's rated to be around 3 hours. So give or take around there! Oh and weight-wise, they're super light, it's the battery that adds a little weight! Probably weighs about the same as my BMD video assist 5" with batteries, maybe a tiiiny bit less!
      Thank you! :)

    Have you ever been able to successfully pull focus wirelessly with the 300? We got one a while back but notice there is always a noticeable lag in the transmission and I'm wondering if its because we're using cheap amazon hdmi cables? Thanks, I love your channel and presentation!

    what export settings do you use for the bmcc 2.5k? In resolve my footage looks amazing but then when I export it, the quality sucks...

    • @RobEllisCinematographer
      @RobEllisCinematographer  3 года назад +1

      I always export to a 4K DNxHR file, usually I superscale to 4K before that but even if I dont superscale I output to a 4K DNxHR anyway - I find the biggest best quality file (within reason) you throw at RUclips, the better! In terms of just generally rendering, h264 MOV usually looks fine to me!
