I like the compression strap where it is. To Me that is a security feature. I also like the flap that is over the zippers. It keeps the rain out. Don't change them features Osprey.
right after watching your video earlier this month i decided to buy the osprey tropos as my new get home bag, comprehensive and honest reviews, thumbs up for you 👍👍👍👍
That looks great for many reasons. The admin section is lacking for small gear organization. I bought a few different sizes of admin pouches years ago so what ever bag I had I would always have some small pouch that would fit in a pocket to organize stationary, flashlights, tools, cables and electronics. That would be a good video for you to do comparing a bunch of admin pouch designs that could be tossed into a backpack. Something like the Savior Equipment Tactical Multi-Purpose EDC Admin Pouch works very well and there are other designs of admin pouch that are not great layout wise. My 5.11 Rush 24 has amazing built in admin section so with that bag I never needed a secondary admin pouch.
Hello! I want to know the depth of the main compartment. First of all, the bag specifications of this Tropos are as follows: 53H X 34W X 27D CM I want to put some clothes pouches in the main compartment. The specifications of this pouch are as follows: 19.5Hx30Wx20D CM 20D is the most important requirement Can it be put in the main storage? It is possible according to the specifications. Except for the main storage, there are two front compartments and a laptop compartment at the back. I think the depth of each storage is set to some extent. Therefore, the depth of the main storage is not really wide. If you don't mind, can you tell me the maximum depth you can put in the main compartment?
great review... was thinking of Nebula, but now wondering about this or the Radial, but the non rugged bottom is a bit concerning. Or do all the Ospreys have the same fabric all around, and it happens to be robust?
Thank you for this. My NF Surge main compartment will hold a ThinkTank Retro 7 stuffed into it. Do you think the Retro 7 would fit in this main compartment? I’d really like to switch to this bag.
Good video. I choose between Radial and Tropos, will use it every day, small 14" inch laptop and gym clothes and grocerys. Bikeride to my work is 4 kilometer. Which one do you recommend?
please do a comparison video of the nebula v tropos with the latest versions! I'm kinda tied between the two and seeing one of your reviews even if only on the nebula would be awesome. I really like the fact the nebula has a top quick access pocket for phone/sunglasses but I can't find any good videos showing the size of the main/Central pocket which is more important to me than the laptop one as I don't always carry one. thanks for a great review vid, very well done
I had one chance that ai can try an osprey bqg when I was abroad. What is the technology behind standing by its own. How can they manage to do that? Is it shape of bag or what? Also very front pocket seems like it is not secure for pick pocketting. Which made me think twice about this bag. I am in between nebula and this backpack can't decide. :(
Hey Desy, I’m between this and the 2021 Surge for my edc but laptop protection/security is paramount to me. I feel like this bag edges out the Surge as others are reporting that this bag will fit a 16” MBP with a sleeve in its laptop section. Do you think this is accurate and for edc, with laptop storage as a priority, would you choose this over the Surge? Thanks.
Hey Jason, for both backpacks, I would say the north face has slightly thicker padding for the laptop, but it definitely is not THAT much better. The only thing I do like better on the north face is that it has more organization pockets and zippers than the osprey. But the osprey is WAY more comfortable
Great review, @Desy Cheng! Just out of curiosity, for general commuting, work, and school related purposes, would you recommend the Tropos bag over the Nebula bag?
How tight is that trampoline on the back? If you load your backpack 5kg+, i.e. laptop and some fruits/veggies... does it stay tight and keep the backpack off your back?
@@affinitystablepeanuts All great backpacks! I think only the tropos has the mesh air backpanel out of those 3 though. It's amazing! but u cant go wrong with any of those options =)
Congrats for your review! I am between Tropos and Nebula. What would be your choice? My usage will be mainly for travelling on airplane and everyday on work. If you have another suggestion different from that, please let me know. All the best!
Hi Bernardo, I prefer the Tropos over the Nebula because of the Kickstand as well as the mesh back panel! The only other everyday carry backpack that I currently like is the Aer Tech Pack 2!
Hello. Like your content. May i know if the opening on top for hydration tube can cause the inside of the laptop compartment to be wet if it rains? Thank you
@@DesmondCheng Thanks, I just ordered 2020 TNF Surge based on your review. Good toss-up with Osprey Tropos but Tropos isn't locally available where I live and shipping and duty from U.S. is pretty substantial so I went for Surge. 😊😌
Hey Desy, do you think the Tropos would be able to take a 12" wide laptop? Bought a 17" gaming laptop that I'd like to be able to move around and it's a nightmare trying to find a good bag for it. Thanks!
Hey Sajjad, I just measured the laptop opening and it's like 12". It does become a bit wider toward the middle and bottom of the bag. So I think it will be a tight fit getting it in, but it will fit. Not sure where you are but hopefully they have it at a shop locally that you can try it there!
@@DesmondCheng Thanks for checking! I actually went to check the Tropos not too long after and the opening is juuust too small to fit the laptop. Bought an Able Carry Max the same day you uploaded your vid and I'm praying that it fits 😅 - Your video quality is awesome, looking forward to more vids!
Hey Desy, thank you for your review! You can actually hide the top compression straps at the front! (The small pockets at the front at the end of the compression straps)
i just received this backpack and i think i got one that should have failed the quality control. shouldnt there be a small "endpiece" on both ends of the kickstand tubing in the main compartment? mine only has 1 on it, the other is uncovered.
I find the compression straps to be a nice security feature that deter thieves from opening your zippers.
I like the compression strap where it is. To Me that is a security feature. I also like the flap that is over the zippers. It keeps the rain out. Don't change them features Osprey.
Hi Desy. I actually don't mind the top compression strap because it adds a little security, so someone won't be able to open your bag easily.
great point!

thanks! yeah its pretty much the same fabric all around. But the kickstand will have most of the weight on it on the ground
Will you be reviewing the new 2023 version?
Ospreys back mesh is killer...I wish i could get a mix of the wandrd and this.
agreed! Osprey should make a camera backpack =)
Thank you for this. My NF Surge main compartment will hold a ThinkTank Retro 7 stuffed into it. Do you think the Retro 7 would fit in this main compartment? I’d really like to switch to this bag.
yes! The main compartment in this bag is bigger than the surge

just ordered one under your recommendation, really liked the mesh back, the multiple dividers and two big bottle slots. your video shows very detail 👍

no problem!

i dont have the nebula bag so i cant say, but one thing i do love about this backpack is the mesh panel. Super comfy!!!! Nebula does not have that
Does this fit under airplane seat?
Is the laptop pocket suspended off the ground?
How tight is that trampoline on the back?

Hi there, its fairly tight! And yes when loaded up with lots of heavy things, it still stays off your back =)

@@DesmondCheng and what would you choose between North Face Surge 2021 vs Osprey Tropos?
Hello. Like your content. May i know if the opening on top for hydration tube can cause the inside of the laptop compartment to be wet if it rains? Thank you
yes if u have a hydration tube through there, rain could get in unfortunately!
What’s your opinion on the hope directly above the lap top compartment? Are you concern with rain?
I'm not too concerned about the rain as there is a flap over the zipper. If it is down pouring I would advise putting on a Rain Cover over top!
Thanks for sharing. Is that internal camera bag ThinkTank? Can you tell me what brand/model fits both Osprey Tropos and NorthFace Surge please?
It is the Loweppro Toploader Zoom 70 I think it is. You can try the tenba BYOB 10

lowepro toploader zoom 55!

This better or north face surge 🧐

opsrey!!!!
