  • The Sigal Music Museum late-2023/early-2024 Distinguished Lecture Series talks were made possible by a major grant from South Carolina Humanities. The last lecture of this season is a wrap. All the lecture videos have not yet been edited, but we wanted to take a moment to express our thanks to South Carolina Humanities and give everyone a look at the fruits of their grant.
We had a wide variety of interesting topics covered by a group of knowledgeable artists and speakers:
Iliana Rose - The Evolution of Cuban Music
Xiao-Fen Min - Echoes of Revolution and Jazz
Adam Maalouf - World Percussion Workshop
Suresh Jonnalagadda - The Sitar in Indian Music
Darcy Kuronen - Tuneful Treasures: Discovering Musical Instruments in American Collections
Kevin Spears - Kalimba: The hidden history of the African instrument that transformed the world
Chinobay - Ugandan Musician and Educator
Keith Davis - The Art of Jazz Improvisation
Free Planet Radio - Traditional Instruments on the Modern Stage
Ted Monnich - A Musical Tour of Turkey
Cynthia Sayer - The Unexpected Journey of Jazz Banjo
Our deepest thanks go out to South Carolina Humanities for their tireless dedication to the humanities in South Carolina!
Complete lectures can be viewed as they become available on our RUclips channel (and other social media).
