I took my throwback 18 pound, 11 year old Pomeranian to his usual vet because he was limping, he also had a 5 grade heart murmur which the vet knew about because it was his usual vet. It was over 2 years ago and they prescribed Meloxidyl, I had trusted their expertise and 2 weeks later his kidneys failed and his liver enlarged and after a liver aspiration by a different vet in the clinic, which I feel never should have been done, after I brought him home he died that evening by my side. My grief was so deep and I had such a hard time recovering from his loss and I felt such guilt taking him to a vet I had trusted. No more vets for my pets, I trust no one. I will trust only holistic vets and medicine from now on. This is why I really love Dr. Jones for his awesome information and natural remedies and his wonderdul videos. ❤
thank you very-very much for your kindness towards people and animals! your videos are super-informative. Now I am at least not in a dark and know what questions to ask. Most of vets are no even quarter as good as you are! appreciate your videos!
Dr. Jones is the type of vet I enjoyed working worth in my career. Its hard to find a thorough vet these days. I tend to be critical when they do less than I would to examine an animal. Misdiagnosis is common for vets due to sloppy or lazy work. Thank you Dr Jones and Lewis. RIP. I just lost my best bird due to a bad vet who misdiagnosed. He got thr runs that morning so I called to get him in roght away. My vet was off. I was given several phone number referrals. I was lied to when I asked, "is this an avian vet? My bird vet is unavailable today. Yes bring him in." I was concerned the runs came on hard and fast and he was ready looking thin. She took him to the back, so I don't even know what she was doing. She took an exray and never even weighed him. Omg I asked for antibiotics and was sent home with a calcium chelator. She said he has metal poisoning. I got him to our vet the next day and he said she should have sent him home with Baytril those aren't even metal flakes in his system it was his cuttle bone. I knew when I left that this was all wrong. It was. Maybe if his stool stopped overnight he would not have gotten so emaciated. He was 22 grams the next day and his keel bone was prominate. Time is of the essence with bird as they drop weight fast. I got the runs to stop right Away with thr Baytril but even hand feeding him couldnt save him. He died a week later and still weighed 22 grams. He could have made it had he not lost anymore weight. He was still eating on his own at tgat pount
You missed a deep groin exam for iliopsoas muscle…very common in working competition dogs…specifically german shepherds doing IGP aka schutzhund…but common on other breeds doing diff. things. Have young dog now with a mild iliopsoas strain…and knew a dog which crashed over a jump and had severed damage.
Again, thank you so much for walking us through examination. Pretty disappointed my vet did none of this. My question is that my dog seems sensitive around her hind knee joint so how strong should I be when trying to extend her leg?
Hi Neluka, Thank You. If trying to extend the knee, have one hand on the paw, the other on the top of the knee, and fully extend the joint- but go slow assessing your dog's pain.
Veterinary Secrets Thanks Dr. Jones. I have booked a vet follow-up visit for Maddie's left hind knee. Vet has suggested performing a "door" test? (or was it drawer or duer or ?) Also said she'd need to be gently sedated with xlazine/rompum or dextimter (sp?) so she'll be relaxed and in less pain during test. Means I have to drop her off and as a humane society rescue she's extremely nervous going to any clinical place and being left. What, if any are alternatives to this process, sedation and would you recommend other process and tests?
Thank you for this demonstration. When massaging my dog's back leg (8kg 5yrs) there is a popping sound and movement of the tendon and then she gets some relief, but it doesn't last. What could this movement of the tendon be?
Thank you so much for this video. It is the most useful thing I’ve seen on the Internet in a long time. I have a rescue foster dog, a GSD mix, from Puerto Rico, that has been through 2 courses of antibiotics for ehrlichia. She is also lame in her right rear leg. How does ehrlichiosis cause lameness? Is the lameness curable? What are some treatments?
hey Dr Jones I have German Shepherd almost 2 years old he is backyard dog today morning he is limping in he front right leg please let me know what i am gona do because my veterinary doctor give me tuesday appointment i cant see my dog walking like that its hurt me i did warm water massage on his leg aswell..
Great video, am going to examine my dog.He isn't walking on the affected leg at all, holding it well off the ground.Which part should I examine the most closely?
I love ur vids but one thing here, Doc...wouldn't reducing ur boy's weight a bit and possibly making sure his nails are kept short (so his pads are in good contact with wood floor for traction- or even cover wood floor with rug so not slipping as he's getting up) be good idea?
ok I know this was almost 2 years ago but I have a female german shepherd 7 month old and for the past 2 days they is not putting pressure on the leg I did the same thing you did in the front leg its the front left leg she sometimes would try to bite me gently to get me to stop I was not able to stretch the leg all the way because she started wining and crying a lot so I stoped what do you think it could be the leg fells really stiffen but the other one is not and I see her ligament stretch and pop out a lot what can I do to help her she won't put weight on that leg but sometimes she jumps a lot she is an active puppy and lands really hard on that leg
Hi!! Doctor as I see this video I don’t know that when will you reply to my comment but being positive that you will definitely reply to my comment I have a question that I have a stray dog and as someone told me he is suffering from distemper which is very rare in dogs plz suggest me how can I help it as he cry’s all day n night plz reply I can’t see him crying in so much pain
My standard goldendoodle started limping from front leg all of a sudden while on a walk and now he is barely putting weigjt in the front leg:( I been gently moving his leg in all directions and bending joints ans no pain at all but barely can put weigjt on it
my dog can barely stand , it's difficult for her to even attempt it...some days she can kinda hobble to go to the bathroom but that's the majority of her movement for the day. I have been giving her cbd and various hip joint supplements and on very bad days I give her a painkiller I got from the vet...She is losing muscle mass in her legs how do I get her to gain muscle again? The vet said she has bone spurs.
hi sir Thank you for your video I have a question I hope you will help my Labrador is 12 yrs old she recently started limping and I figured out that her front left toe finger has some cracking sound while bending. what can I do to ease her ? Please help sir thanking you in advance
Sir is this same for cats??? My cat is doing that same for the past 4 days, it rarely keeps his paw down. I think he had a trauma on his right forelimb. And now there is a slight inflammation on his paw. Will the damaged joint or muscle heals by its own? Then how many days will take🥺 He is 4.5 years old male Indian cat... Please help me sir!
Hi. Our 20 month Border Collie was very active today, but a few hours ago jumped off of our couch. I did the layman's exam; Lasea is not putting any weight on her left front leg. I'm considering taking her to our chiropractor who sees both humans and dogs. My husband also bought some Sore No-More liniment. What is your input?
But my rottweiler show's agrresion when I touch his hind leg some times how to examine his leg in his pain ..and sometimes he shows agression towards all the family member but he is so affectionate ...aggression is not in his behaviour..I think he shows aggression bcz he is in pain
I'm a dog lover and I'm taking care of 2 Shiba inu.. Our problem now our one Lil girl 1 year old has a problem in her right behind leg and today she had x ray.. I guess there is something wrong in her scapula.. Vet advice to have surgery which I got really so sad.. Any advice to prevent inflammation.. 😔 and avoid surgery... Pls help 😔
Hey doc good stuff very informative... My dog is a 2 yr old German Shepherd mix n I got up this morning n she's limping I checked to c but there wasn't anything .. I had to take her cause he couldn't handle her ..when she got here she couldn't even walk up or down steps I've been walking her everyday sometimes twice I was thinking maybe a pulled muscle I really hope it not serious .... Thank you Dr! I have had great success using Young Living Essential Oil knee recipe: lemongrass, Ginger, Marjoram for 16 years now. Take 1 drop of each and rub all over the knee, front and back, inside and out. This recipe is in the Essential Oil Desk Reference. I having been using this on both my dogs, myself, veterinary patients, canine agility athletes and their owners. It repairs ligaments and tendons, reduces swelling, and is helpful in controlling pain. Must be Young Living therapeutic organic grade oils. I thought I would share as you so kindly do. Many blessings.
My dog has been limping for a day now but he’s been acting super depressed always laying down and doesn’t wanna eat I see his paw and it doesn’t have blood or anything but he’s not crying or anything just super sad he doesn’t wanna move what should I do

Ah! The wormhole of RUclips. I've ended up in that parallel universe myself.
Check the pads! In VT dogs frequently slice a pad on sharp rocks.

Hi. My lab also just randomly started limping. Did you take yours to the vet to get exaimed? My vet is charging $500+ for xrays 🤨
How did you treat Louis’s back leg? Please!
Is there any vitamins that can ease the pain for them or at least help ?

To some extent, with Arthritis it can tricky to locate the point of discomfort.
