Good day Dogtor Pete... My puppy is a Malinous X Rottweiler and has just past 6 months of age... she hurt her left front leg during a zoomies session... we had her at the vet who prescribed anti inflamatories and diagnosed LF Lameness. The problem is most of her lameness is more progressive after 4pm in the day, she puts full pressure on her leg all day and there is no wimpering etc. after 4pm she will have a lie down, and get up... and it is noticeable that she is "stiff" where she then limps - we go for a slow stroll in the garden - and the stiffness goes away. I have put her on Joint Supplements, as well as Joint Kibbles, to try and assist from a nutritional point. She is still on her anti-flamatories which i give her once a day. She is indoors the whole day, and only goes outside for a loo break. My question is... how long does a accute sprain / strain take to heal.. should be worried that she has night time lameness, or will this eventually subside as she heals. She is still so young and would like the best for her.

I love to see a video on lameness in short leg dogs, like corgies and basset hounds. I currently have a lame corgi and I find it a little more challenging to find the source of pain especially in the front legs because they are so chest heavy. I can't tell if it's really bad or only looks bad because her legs are so short.

Our Kelpie started limping today some time after a long walk. He was limping slightly a couple days ago too, but only for a little while. Seems totally fine after a good night of rest. Now that I think back, he has been licking his left paw/ankle some times. I'm kinda freaking out about all the possible things that could cause it.

I always fear osteosarcoma on front paws/legs, great video👍

Thanks Raven. Yes osteosarcoma is an ugly one but if identified early enough before any metastasis occurred to the rest of the body the leg can be amputated and the animal can continue to live a long, good quality life. :)

My dog has been limping and there is a lump a little bigger than a quarter on the front right leg. Shes also has fatty lumps we had one tested before it was not cancerous. Im hoping the one on her front leg with the limping is not cancer. Due to financial reasons we can take her to vet next month. She is an older dog and still likes going for walks. She is a little over weight our vet said to not over feed her. So we do walk her cause she wants to go outside.

Thank u for your informative channel. I listened to this video with so much pain for my sweet puppy. I have a Pom/Yorkie mixed breed puppy (14 months old) recently diagnosed with a mild hip dysplasia. He limps on R hind leg when he rises up. His vet prescribed pain killers and some capsules for inflammation. He's been using them for 3 weeks and there's no improvement. He's a fussy eater but has been chubby since birth. His weight is 6.9kg and we have been trying to drop it without success. We have cut down his daily walks due to his hip pain. We use Royal Canin. Any advice to drop his weight?

My 3 month old pup is limping with her left hindleg (puts some pressure on it), but today when I tried to allow her to run for a second (I carried her all day yesterday pretty much) she lifts up her back leg completely. Should I take her to the vet? She injured herself yesterday and I'm worried about her not putting weight on it when she is moving quickly.... her leg does not drag behind her at all, just lifted up. Whenever I touch every part of her leg or try to move it she is not reactive at all.

I have a fat dog..That might be a reason as well??
My dog walks "ok" when he is at home.. But When I take him on a walk. He starts with a lameness in one of his paws. Is horrible..HOW can I have him lose weight if he can't run/walk?? Is a pug btw

Hey Alexander. Obesity will definitely put extra strain on the joints and make lameness a lot worse. Best would be to put him on a weigh loss diet. The Hills Metabolic & Mobility diet works really well as it helps with both weight loss and it supports the joints. It is a prescription diet though, so you will need a vet's approval/prescription in order to buy it.

Possible foot drop. Possible injury. Get it checked out by a vet.

My dog fell off my bed
Which is like idk a 3ft drop
And he yelped and cried really loud for a few seconds after it happened
And he has been holding his back leg up
He lets me look at his leg as long as I don’t move it too much
And if I touch his foot in a certain spot he yelps
