    You are definitely improving! A few things I noticed (long comment again, but not lots of complaints xD):
    1) The military area should have preferably been completely disconnected from the main city. Since they have no use to Bazaar traders, it just creates a needless intersection in your housing block. Plus, the more intersections you create, the less coverage that firemen and architects will provide and because you are playing on Hard, you need to keep them from wandering all over the place.
    2) 22:46 Instead of extending the road, it would have actually been better to have a small loop area which produces nothing but pottery and beer, then having the SY you set down in the housing area to "get" 1/2 pottery / beer. This way you don't create an intersection and a long route for traders to reach the SY's they need to (trading is more efficient if land traders just walk cross country), plus it's more efficient in general as Bazaar traders don't need to walk half way across the city to acquire the goods they need. This could have been done the same way with the Wood Cutters and Papyrus Maker industries, as there's no real reason for Wood to be produced in an area which is meant for city building (plus, you don't have spacing issues due to map size ;))
    3) 27:10 Would have happened quicker if you set the Barley to be "emptied", or at least set the Barley SY you built to "get" Barley ;)
    4) 28:05 The TC to Seth should have been built early on. It confers a benefit that is very useful in military missions: it causes all soldiers who leave the Recruiter to automatically have an increase in their skill (going from Green to Skilled) and Morale (Encouraged to Very Bold, not sure on this bit though). Later on in the game, you'll get access to a Military Academy, which can prove useful as it basically does the same thing (so if you build both the Academy and the Seth TC, soldiers come out as first class veterans, VERY useful in some military missions). The Oracle/Altar additions help in reducing crime around the city as well and lessening the need for placing police stations, so it's one of the more useful TC's when in military missions.
    == Notes of Interest ==
    1) I'm not sure if you actually needed two housing blocks in this case. The one housing block you started with, fully evolved to Fancy Residence, looks like it would have supplied all 3000 population necessary (+ some feeder housing for the other areas)
    2) Wage rates should NEVER be raised or lowered [unless an event occurs that requires it to be raised / lowered (becomes common as the storyline progresses)], this actually causes annoyance to the citizens. It should always match the rate which the Kingdom pays.
    3) The luxury goods request should have preferably been ignored. By ignoring it, while it does harm kingdom rating, stops them constantly occurring (and tbh, the number of invasions / requests that occur means you can offset the luxury good requests). Plus, the Kerma trade route is constantly cut with sieges, so there's no real purpose to opening it at all.
    4) In general, Oasis missions have terrible problems with unemployment. To combat this issue in all of the Oasis missions, why not turn them into production outposts, which import the raw materials (eg clay) and exports finished goods (eg pottery)? Ensures a stable supply of money and clears the horrible unemployment that these missions bring, because the population requirements are high >_>
    5) While you did appease the gods, again you didn't show preferential treatment to Seth (the patron) until much nearer the end by building his TC. You also built no shrines to confer desirability / appeasement so this could have turned out a lot worse (luckily, it didn't). The gods of Egypt don't like it when you don't give them preferential treatment if they're the patron god of the location and later on, this can prove catastrophic: I think the reason as to why you aren't doing this is because in C3, every god demanded equal worship, which isn't the case in Pharaoh. ;)
    Overall, much better! Still a few areas to tweak, but definitely getting there! The best way to improve is to just keep trying and taking on board the tips left by your Pharaoh viewers :D

      It's signifigantly later, so you may not even remember: But can you import luxuries from kerma[which is 1 coin in price] and export it further into egypt for profit since the mission briefing indicates that potential?

      @AmandaVieiraMamaesouCult 4 года назад

      OriginalSoulbourne in the overseer of commerce, you can see that the price sellers receive is always lower than the price buyers pay, so you can’t actually make a profit this way, unless the game sends a message informing about price changes

      The patrons gods don't care as long as they get enough temples/shrines to them. For Patron 1 temple placate 375 people and 1 shrine 125. So you tend to need a LOT of them for the patron god, but as long as you got enough, they don't really care how much you give to the others. They are easier to placate though as one shrine to a lesser god placate 375 people and 750 for a temple.

    Oh my god, I just realized something: at 3:15 there are trees in the lower left and right corners of the map where there is only desert today. But between 5000 and 3500 BC at least, most of the Sahara would have gone through a humid period, supporting trees, likely similar to modern jungle trees, and while the exact placement of these trees is likely just "artistic license", the idea that the Nile Valley as well as more remote areas of the Sahara would have supported way more forest than today throughout the timeframe of the game is there and supported by science.
    I have spent so much time with this game in my childhood and had that map (in a more colourful artstyle) in front of me on a print-out for years, and this thing still surprises me with details like this!

    This is a fun mission to practice import/export. Doing great so far :)
    For advanced tips. Even if the labor access is from the outside loop, roadblocks are still necessary near the road entrances from industry roads, especially with double wide outside road. Firemen can walk a long distance before turning back, cut short their trip to ensure fire coverage in the desert land.
    the whole double loop doesn't need to be in rectangular shape, later on there might be some narrow land not that open and flat. Be creative with the double loop concept. Remember your last Caesar 3 missions, sometimes linear designs are as effective as loop design, you can use the same entertainment trainer -> performer trick in Pharaoh.
    And since houses beyond common residence level automatically expand to 2x2, you might want to reshape your 1x1 to unified 2x2 rows. This way they consume less goods. You can use small statues or well to block their growing direction from the start.

      Agree with you in full, but remember that fire hazard risks in Pharaoh are unified in all mission types, it varies on difficulty, rather than C3 where it was based on the land type. ;)
      However, because the whole city is essentially connected together without the use of roadblocks at all (which I'm very surprised at), it lessens the effectiveness of firehouses and architect posts in general: at Hard difficulty, that could prove to be the key part in having a stable city.

    • @countingtls
      @countingtls 10 лет назад +7

      Yea, they are all in desert, and increase with difficulty. However, the fire risk increased with different ratio across different type of buildings.
      At hard level, beside hunting lodge and library, most buildings' fire risk can be deduced enough with firemen pass by at least twice a month. However damage risk is just 1/4 of the fire. You can get away with once visit every two months. It's a big difference.

      Pathing doesn't matter on that outskirt and it just allows double plazas which are a rare decoration to use. Doesn't have to be double.

    I am exactly 2 years too late, but you should've set the barley warehouse to 'acquire', which would activate the cartman from it. With 'empty' on clay warehouse, the cartman was still occupied delivering clay, and thus didn't move at all.
    Also, you have 10k db and you did not build the temple complex. The upgrades to it are so good it's silly

    • @GamerZakh

      +Sleelan - Ah yes, I've started setting thing to 'acquire' but still forget about the temple complex, haha! You're not too late though, I'm still making episodes.

    Oh awesome! Are you going to complete the whole game?

    • @SuperSajuuk
      @SuperSajuuk 10 лет назад +5

      It wouldn't be much of a Let's Play if he didn't. ;)
      Considering the vast number of people who play (or have played) this game, the only person to have a full playthrough of every single mission in the game on RUclips is myself (including all Cleopatra missions). However, my playthrough was on Very Easy, but at least I've documented all missions and people appreciate that. :)
      Zakh would become the first player to complete all Pharaoh missions (not including Cleopatra) at Hard difficulty on RUclips. Here's some interesting stats for you:
      * The vast majority give up before getting past the Archaic Period (mostly because they either don't know how to play the game or simply started the series for views and have no intention of completing the game)
      * A few have reached the middle or end of the Old Kingdom
      * 1 other person reached the point before you become Pharaoh.
      So overall, RUclips has virtually no users who have actually been able to document many of the later missions that the majority of players have difficulty with. So yeah, it will be a good accomplishment for Zakh if he can complete all Pharaoh missions at least (because, as he said, he has to complete this LP this year :D)

      Indeed it would be. I found your LPs very helpful, but I myself stopped after reaching On (Heliopolis) for some reason haha. This is such a gem of a game.
      Also, you did Cleopatra as well? I need to look for those, as I have never actually seen any of the game (despite owning it haha).

    A bit late, but you have way too many papyrus makers. 1 can make 5,65 papyrus a year, so you only need 5 papyrus makers to prosess all of the 2500 reeds you can import.
