to solve the issue: Pharao was expected to provide beer for those workers busy with his monuments and all other work on royal behalf. was sort of payment, not a means to throw parties in Men-nefer :D
The houses will fill up to 2 years supply of each type of food. When you started to supply chickpeas and figs, you only needed 1/3 of the fish to restock the houses and then you started building up the surplus.
"There we are, I've gone straight into debt!" lol! Reminds me of the old joke, "to go straight into the hospital, just close your eyes and cross a busy road, ANY busy road!" :P
I dont usually upload C3 missions that often and I have to record both of them before uploading so I have a good finale lol. Just wait till early Jan =)
This really helped with my playthrough of Pharaoh, thanks. Also please make more, even if you have to lessen the difficulty. I really find your playthrogughs really entertaining,
I know this is a very old series, but it's much easier to please the gods if you throw them a festival every now and then. About ever 6 months if you have 4-5 of them so between 2 and 2,5 years between each festival to each god. It helps a LOT. Small festivals are fine. Larger once is just a waste I find.
I may be incorrect here but when you import food I think you need to have a warehouse to accept it first before they will deliver the food. After that you can use the granary to 'Get' the food.
21:20 If Bazaars stop requiring a food stuff, it will begin to stockpile in the granary. This is actually a good thing if there's a terrible flood and you don't have loads of food being produced or something happens that cuts off the food supply.
29:34 The best way to increase your Kingdom rating is one lavish gift every 12 months. This results in a 10pt Kingdom increase. Make sure it's only one per 12 months or their value decreases to nothing.
Yeah, some games just can't be turned widescreen. I looked for Caesar 3 but the people who do these mods said that C3 code was impossible to work with lol.
Good video! The only problem I noticed so far was that you've got people wandering all over the place needlessly, the fishing wharf community could've been cut off with roadblocks rather than having them just wandering over the roads they don't really need to wander along xD
Yeah there are ton more missions haha, but I had to go back and focus on C3 until I finished that. Pharaoh missions take so long to play =S I should get back into it soon, but I upload when I can.
Not to mention these missions are super easy compared to the giant piramids you need to build later on. It took me ages to complete those and that was on easy mode. Good luck playing it on hard when ppl migrate, get diseases and all that jazz... I have great respect for you if you can do it all.
there was a problem with that as it cut the screen off and made it neigh impossible to hit the those top drop downs, so i couldn't adjust the speed easily, :(
Wow! This brings me back. I used to play this game and had trouble with this map. The original game had a Behdet bug, but when I bought the Cleopatra upgrade, the bug was fixed.
Hmm the link does seem to be down, hopefully it comes back up again. Though you should be able to set the game to 1024x768 by default in game anyway, at least it won't look so bad. Mouse to the top of the screen in game and change your display settings.
There are 24 missions in the original Pharaoh (but if playing in the campaign, you will play less than that). There are 15 in the Cleopatra expansion. So overall, 39 missions exist.
Hi Zakh i really like your videos. Just a request, can you make a video on all types of housing designs you used in caesar or pharaoh or zeus. it will be really useful. thanks
Nice Caesar 3 and Pharaoh vids. Watching them is kinda making me want to play them again. Hey has anybody ever told you before that you sound like the character Legion from the tv show Red Dwarf? episode 2 season 6
I skipped this mission because you get given the choice of 2, and I chose the other. So, I came back to it and I performed disastrously. It's a good mission to teach pacing, not to expand too quickly. In my play through, one enemy transport somehow broke through (combat is really hard to read and see what is actually going on!) and those Nubians wrecked my city hard core, so I had too few workers, so things started shutting down, including my healthcare, so then everyone was getting the Plague. Luckily my mastaba had been finished by then , and Pharaoh loved me, so all i had to do was get housing up to spacious apartments. My solution was to tear down the entire city, all the industry, except for one residential area and all the gold mines, and then import beer and pottery. Massively inefficient, but when you are short of 921 employees.... Plus I had about 80,000 debens. Before that Nubian expeditionary force landed I was on 231 debens, but still short of 200 workers. IIRC this is the first mission where healthcare is a real challenge. Still figuring out the solution but I think I'll try the C-Block that Saajuuk mentions and see what happens. I'll be doing this mission aghain because I was so damned inefficient the last time. Thanks for your videos, i am really enjoying them. I watch them when I mess up, so get ideas for improvement.
I went and replayed this, and came up with totally counter intuitive way to do it, smashing my high score. Simply put, although you normally want to set your industry up asap and expor everything, doing that on this map is not needed, and will consume your manpower. Therefore, maximise your mining, get some storage yards, have one to import beer, and one for pottery. You can make some space in each for a bit of papyrus. Those are the things Pharaoh asks for. He may also ask for fish, but I just ignored him. After that, I then opened up all the trade routes, built a dock, warship wharves and fishing wharves, just for fun, then I imported wood, built 3 warships, and kept the game going like that for w while, slowing things down once or twice a year to throw grand festivals. At some point I expanded into chickpea farming, and had 3 granaries, because I had surplus population and needed employment. Then I expanded into papyrus production, thinking I could use the reeds on the map and get some extra cash. Be careful here, because I thought it'd be a genius idea to get rid of my undesirable housing (nearly everything had evolved to spacious apartments by then) but the pendulum swung the other way into crippling lack of employees. So I shut down my papyrus and imported it again. Final score was 18,000 or something, original score was 3000!
does anyone know of any other widescreen mods because that link seems to be broken for me, may be because i'm in the uk but playing at 800x600 is unbearable
You probably should have built a much larger block in the beginning. The inner loop can be as large as 52 tiles in length and still have the thing be stable; you save on costs and space since you don't need to build twice the amenities. The 52 tile length thing is also relevant for industries. You could improve your city by building the industrial sectors further away from your housing blocks (so the housing won't suffer negative desirability) without worrying about running out of employee access.
You just download the zip from the link in the description above, extract the executable file for the resolution you want, rename the extracted exe to something that distinguishes it and put it in the Pharaoh gameplay dir and launch it.
The C3 widescreen fix came out months after I already completed the game, so I missed that =S Thanks for the tips though! Haha don't wait for me to play it before you do, I'm very busy and Pharaoh takes so much time to produce I can't keep a consistent schedule.
Indeed, in fact some missions you might have to edit so much to cut down on the video lengths. I highly recommend play testing some of the later mission as they are slowly increasing in difficulty from this point ;)
Haha, I actually didn't get sick of city-builders, I became a full time teacher. I do intend to continue city-builders but it takes 6-8 hours to produce 1 episode and it's hard to fit that in my schedule right now.
Why do i get attacked every mission although i dispatch everything they ask?. In this mission after 2-3 years an advice says i'll get attacked, after 9 months 3 groups of army appears, i tried to play it in every difficult but still. I could try deal with em somehow but, i see you soooo chill, not even worried if it might happens. Just complete what mission says. Cheers from Argentina
You should try and get the voice acting for the bricklayers when they are on their way towards the mastaba (but not if they are already there, then it just shows you the progress of the monument). Typical Egyptian (or what is thought of Egyptian) accent, "It's brick laying time at the monument!"
Damn, that's a problem as those are 2 keys on my Norwegian keyboard. (you have to press 2 keys at the same time). No wonder I never found them. I give it another go.
30:10 You have kinda got the basics, but you still need improvement in some areas of the game which include use of shrines and larger use of roadblocks to keep everything separate. Your housing block is alright but it's too long and a little inefficient due to it being so big.
you should just tell your ships to lay anchor and shoot at the enemy, it doesn't matter this early but later in the game your ships are going to be much weaker than the enemy in the late game, and much fewer.
Yeah I love the Impressions games. Especially lets plays when the player is much better than me :P Would for this to continue or even for you to try Zeus or Emperor
+Chetan Shenoy It's hard to remember my reasoning from back then but usually when I do this I'm thinking that I'm already supplying certain resources to the houses, so building more housing is easier as it's just a matter of distribution rather than setting up new industries. It could also be because I had a plan already of having a certain number of housing areas from the start.
I think it takes him longer to make these because the recording software he's using is a pain in the neck to record this game (You have to use windowed mode, 16-bit colour monitor depth and maximum 1600x900 resolution). Last I remember, he's looking into new recording software ;)
I don't at this point. I don't have long periods of free time to game like that and I won't get any revenue from it, plus I'd rather focus on building a following here first =)
Don't forget about the shrines to each god. :) That's an easier way to make them happy instead of building more temples. And the shrines don't need employees. ;D
Im so sad because there is no new city building games lik Pharaoh, this is just imaginary it would be so awesome if they make something like this: PHARAOH 2 Rule the Egypt one more time in new upcoming city builder, we are going back to 2d enviroment with beautiful hand drawn graphics Player come to become part of Egypt history, this time from New Kingdom, through Roman Occupation, and Sasanian Egypt There are 20 new missions in 5 difficulty styles, everything is same as old Pharaoh gamestyle, and here are some new things: New housing design and new requirements New gods available: Amon , Horus , Isis New entertainment : Dancing Monkey, so capture Monkeys using Monkey Lodge or import Monkeys from other cities New comon good: Clothes, require Wool or Leather (Sheep farm or Cattle Farm) New luxury good: Perfume, requires: Flowers and water, build a Flower farm and a Perfume Factory New source of food: Honey, requires: Bee Hive Studio, product: Honey and Wax which can be used in Candle Maker for making candles New source of food (in Sasanian Egypt): Crocodile Meat, build a Crocodile Hunter Lodge, requires wood In Roman Occupation period: There is now Wine replaced Beer, In mediteerian there are Olives can be grown and create Olive Oil as Luxury Goods In Roman Occupation period: There is now possible to build Cemetery, requires 1000 candles, requires Priest, Build a Priest School In Roman Occupation period: The best source of income is trade of : Ivory, Wine, Gold, Olive Oil, Cloth, Metals, Spices In Sasanian Egypt: Missions are hard and most of time requires lot of military, and military system is improoved When conquer city or fort, with returning warriors, there are captured slaves, so build a Slave Guild and dont forget to add Security Guards to stop possible riots Missions: 1. Abydos 2. Memphis 3. Tanis 4. Syene 5. Abu Simbel 6. Napata 7. Sidon 8. Avaris 9. Thebes 10. Abu-Sir 11. Cobrit 12. Butus 13. Taua 14. Hibis 15. Coptos 16. Pelusium 17. Suez 18. Paraetonium 19. Babylon 20. Alexanderia
+Sleelan - You mean compared to Caesar 3? Well in Caesar 3 I labelled them according to the Peaceful/Military path, but Pharaoh has so many missions I decided to just list them by number. The 7A/7B thing can be a bit confusing if you're unfamiliar with how these games work.
You mean land trade routes? You just have to check the map to see where the land routes and water routes are. Always good practice to check at the start of the mission. If the intro specifically mentions one or the other, it probably means that there's a crucial resource from that route.
The only issue I'd have with this map is the excessive amount of housing you built, your unemployment levels would've skyrocketed to cause major sentiment issues with your populace. At higher difficulties, try to be conservative and not build too much (unless you really really need to build a 10k city :P)
It triggers me a little because you spam a thousand temples but didn't build a single shrine. Less space, less cost and they don't need employees but they help you a lot with keeping the gods on your good side.
Although I agree festivals are useful and have a lot of benefit, it just doesn't fit my playstyle as I'm constantly aiming for stability. Blessings can often throw off my sense of how the city is working and I start doing things that can't be supported later on. The blessing I do always try to go for is 'kill enemies when they invade my city' though, haha.

The Pharaoh and his beer-requests.
That goddamn alcoholic...
xD
to solve the issue: Pharao was expected to provide beer for those workers busy with his monuments and all other work on royal behalf.
was sort of payment, not a means to throw parties in Men-nefer :D
This game chewed so much of my childhood, no regrets at all. :)
Unlike WoW the nostalgia don’t make you sad!
The houses will fill up to 2 years supply of each type of food. When you started to supply chickpeas and figs, you only needed 1/3 of the fish to restock the houses and then you started building up the surplus.
Please consider continuing this, i love watching this game. And you edit it very well to.
Yeah they do, whenever I play I try to get monuments set up ASAP because preparing the land takes awhile before you need to import the supplies.
I used to have this game!!! I loved it! I miss playing Pharaoh!
"There we are, I've gone straight into debt!" lol! Reminds me of the old joke, "to go straight into the hospital, just close your eyes and cross a busy road, ANY busy road!" :P
oh man this game 12 or 14 years ago i still have it speical edtion :D
The monument Building was just great! It was really challenging when you had to balance that with the rest of the aspects of the game.
I dont usually upload C3 missions that often and I have to record both of them before uploading so I have a good finale lol. Just wait till early Jan =)
This game was so hard when I played as a child like 12 years ago. Btw 24 now haha. Never understood what I needed to do. Thanks for the videos man.
Glad I could help! I totally didn't understand the game when I was young too. Gotta read a lot to get all those nuances explained.
This really helped with my playthrough of Pharaoh, thanks. Also please make more, even if you have to lessen the difficulty. I really find your playthrogughs really entertaining,

the best game ever !!!

MY childhood :3
Yeaaa played this so much think i was like 8 years old took me ages to figure it out
Monica Sciarone For real, Im so happy that I did
Details in the description called widescreen fixer. If you need any help just ask me here or PM me.
Yeah, some games just can't be turned widescreen. I looked for Caesar 3 but the people who do these mods said that C3 code was impossible to work with lol.
Love this series. im currently playing through this game as well =)
Cool. Btw, you can change the speed with the [ and ] keys.
Mind = Blown
Thank you for the hotkey tip and the play through video! 👍
I think of it as 19 missions, because after the first 2 tutorials there's a choice between 2 from then on.
I do plan on continuing, it's just I'm very busy and have to pick and choose what videos I make =S
Just suscribed =)
Loved your pharaoh series, I hope you continue it some day
I don't see why not. Try the fixer and see if it works. It's just an exe file, your language should be determined by other external files.
Not to mention these missions are super easy compared to the giant piramids you need to build later on. It took me ages to complete those and that was on easy mode. Good luck playing it on hard when ppl migrate, get diseases and all that jazz... I have great respect for you if you can do it all.
First time watch your video. nice editing and good comentary +1 sub :].
there was a problem with that as it cut the screen off and made it neigh impossible to hit the those top drop downs, so i couldn't adjust the speed easily, :(
I plan to, just Pharaoh missions take so long to play lol. Monuments make the game longer compared to C3.
Wow! This brings me back. I used to play this game and had trouble with this map. The original game had a Behdet bug, but when I bought the Cleopatra upgrade, the bug was fixed.
Installing Cleopatra caused a few other bugs you'll see in this series though haha. But yeah, it's still a great game today.
GamerZakh That's true, lol! I still enjoyed it.
Hmm the link does seem to be down, hopefully it comes back up again. Though you should be able to set the game to 1024x768 by default in game anyway, at least it won't look so bad. Mouse to the top of the screen in game and change your display settings.
Very Nice Let's play GamerZakh, really enjoying it. Already subscribed
+Redruth mk - Thanks! And welcome!
***** You need the widescreen fixer. It's linked in the description.
There are 24 missions in the original Pharaoh (but if playing in the campaign, you will play less than that). There are 15 in the Cleopatra expansion. So overall, 39 missions exist.
i loved this game when i was a kid... wish they would remake a new version of it for modern day computers :P
Maybe you can try "Children of the Nile" made by the same team. Very good game.
Kh0tan I'm waiting for Banished to get an Egypt mod =P
children of the nile looks weak... tilt didnt do good with that game in my opinion
This is going to happen! They're doing a remake!
More Pharaoh please!!
The patron god should always have more temples and shrines than the local deities
You just earned your self a new subscriber! :)
Hi Zakh i really like your videos. Just a request, can you make a video on all types of housing designs you used in caesar or pharaoh or zeus. it will be really useful. thanks
Nice Caesar 3 and Pharaoh vids. Watching them is kinda making me want to play them again. Hey has anybody ever told you before that you sound like the character Legion from the tv show Red Dwarf? episode 2 season 6
is this it or is there more missions? If so, when are you going to do more pharaoh lp?? :D love watching you play these old games ^^
omfg, i use to play this from after school until my mom wants me to go to bed TROLOL fun memories.
The granary is not to Pharaoh away. 3:28 Legendary
I have a downloaded swedish version, do you think its possible to get better resolution than 1024x768
You just download the zip from the link in the description above, extract the executable file for the resolution you want, rename the extracted exe to something that distinguishes it and put it in the Pharaoh gameplay dir and launch it.

i wish they'd made an Eastern Roman city builder too. It could have been called Justinian or Autokrator. Just imagine how amazing it could have been.
Indeed, in fact some missions you might have to edit so much to cut down on the video lengths. I highly recommend play testing some of the later mission as they are slowly increasing in difficulty from this point ;)
how do u build the pyramid I think it's in the skirmish game but not sure how as it's been so long since I have played this
12:40 Gold Ore is extremely rare in the game, just because you've got gold available doesn't mean ignoring exports. ;)
Can anybody help with how i use the widescreen resolution executables?
Haha, I actually didn't get sick of city-builders, I became a full time teacher. I do intend to continue city-builders but it takes 6-8 hours to produce 1 episode and it's hard to fit that in my schedule right now.
Why do i get attacked every mission although i dispatch everything they ask?. just to let you know, there is not a glitch when it comes to the ratings. the ratings are only reviewed once annually just the way it is I am afraid.
The granary isn't needed to store imported food. Bazaar Buyers will go and get it from the SY.
"...to cross these rivers"!! Mate, you're in EGYPT, there are only ONE river"s" and that's the Nile! :P
You should try and get the voice acting for the bricklayers when they are on their way towards the mastaba (but not if they are already there, then it just shows you the progress of the monument). Typical Egyptian (or what is thought of Egyptian) accent, "It's brick laying time at the monument!"
Indeed. You are basically playing through 3000 years of history, whereas in C3 you only play a smaller amount.
Woah look at all the agents this is an amazing glassbox engine...
What are the hotkeys for speed here? I can't seem to find them.
They are the [ and ] keys.
Damn, that's a problem as those are 2 keys on my Norwegian keyboard. (you have to press 2 keys at the same time). No wonder I never found them. I give it another go.
Ah, only way to know for sure then is to press every key until you find it haha. Not sure about Norwegian keyboards.
30:10 You have kinda got the basics, but you still need improvement in some areas of the game which include use of shrines and larger use of roadblocks to keep everything separate. Your housing block is alright but it's too long and a little inefficient due to it being so big.
Instead of placing temples everywhere, place down shrines instead. They are cheaper and don't require employees either ;)
dude.there are another(split) mission before this began.did you have any video of it😉
I did play every mission yes, it'll be in the playlist at gamerzakh.com/pharaoh
Hi Zakh ! In the end of the video, the redirection for Mission 9 is actually going back to mission 7 :)
Oh thanks for letting me know! I'll fix it.
you should just tell your ships to lay anchor and shoot at the enemy, it doesn't matter this early but later in the game your ships are going to be much weaker than the enemy in the late game, and much fewer.

I hope someday when you find the time you will continue this
sounds great :D hope for it soon ^^
Don't forget about the shrines to each god. :)
That's an easier way to make them happy instead of building more temples. And the shrines don't need employees. ;D
ignore that links back up
Why do you put roads near the Pavilion? People can walk straight through it. By the way, do you still planning to finish Pharaoh?
Watched 🙏🏽
do you plan on playing emperor rise of the middle kingdom?
6:25 No it isn't. There's a city or two that sells pottery, could've just imported them, same with the beer to fulfill the request xD
How can you not have any land force whatsoever? I would have at least 1 fort of infantry!
Do you stream on twitch? if you do, which is the name of the channel?
Fucking nostalgic
Will you do any more missions some day :)?
I hope you continue this game, I'm subbing in case you do.
Does this game support 1080p?
Not natively. Widescreen resolutions are from widescreen game fixer linked in the description.
This one is better though, was recently made: www.wsgf.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=14149&p=165662#p165662 I'll be changing the links soon.
Haha no they haven't. I'll go check out that character now =P
I recently found my old CD of the game... spent way too much time on this game : )
It's 100s of hours isn't it? And it can just go on forever.
GamerZakh Yup... good times for sure.
Im so sad because there is no new city building games lik Pharaoh, this is just imaginary it would be so awesome if they make something like this:

When?
Why are you naming Pharaoh episodes differently? As in you font use 7a/7b, but instead just put 7/8?
+Sleelan - You mean compared to Caesar 3? Well in Caesar 3 I labelled them according to the Peaceful/Military path, but Pharaoh has so many missions I decided to just list them by number. The 7A/7B thing can be a bit confusing if you're unfamiliar with how these games work.
you can trade without a dock? wtf do they word it like u cant
You mean land trade routes? You just have to check the map to see where the land routes and water routes are. Always good practice to check at the start of the mission. If the intro specifically mentions one or the other, it probably means that there's a crucial resource from that route.
I'm Eurasian living in Malaysia =)
The only issue I'd have with this map is the excessive amount of housing you built, your unemployment levels would've skyrocketed to cause major sentiment issues with your populace. At higher difficulties, try to be conservative and not build too much (unless you really really need to build a 10k city :P)
If currency inflation were a thing in Pharao, GZ would be sooo screwed...
Haha! Yeah I don't always manage money the best in these games.
will try out this building layout for my next mission .. been using the Z "swastika" city layout so far :)
Планировка ужасная ( Но игра выдающиеся!
It triggers me a little because you spam a thousand temples but didn't build a single shrine. Less space, less cost and they don't need employees but they help you a lot with keeping the gods on your good side.
For the love of Ra keep him happy goddammit REEEEEEEEEE
I start using shrines a lot more later on.
Festival Squares!!! Hold festivals to the gods, and they'll love you. No need to spam Temples or Shrines (except to have walkers/access for housing)
Although I agree festivals are useful and have a lot of benefit, it just doesn't fit my playstyle as I'm constantly aiming for stability. Blessings can often throw off my sense of how the city is working and I start doing things that can't be supported later on. The blessing I do always try to go for is 'kill enemies when they invade my city' though, haha.
gameplay similar to The Settlers
