    I. Am. Cold. Living on a cold, damp island means the Brits are experts at warming things, particularly when that thing is water. More importantly, can someone find me a portable airing cupboard? The ones at Lakeland are massive!

    In hot muggy weather fill your hot water bottle with water and put in the freezer and when you are ready for bed wrap a towel around it to stop condensation and place it by your feet it will keep you cool all night

    Another thing we do is warm the dinner plates in the oven or microwave (1min) so the food stays hotter for longer.
    Why?
    Because we're a sensible down to earth country.

      Just as the British God made us, and yes God is British. That's why we don't have earthquakes in this country, someone who builds a city on something called the San Andreas Fault really has got it coming, in fact it's not San Andreas's Fault is it.................. (Partial Quote from the legendary Al Murray).

    Top tip, you can fill your "hot" water bottle with cold water in summer to keep cool. (We don't have air conditioning either). If we don't have an airing cupboard we just stick everything on the radiators.

    • @BritTucky
      @BritTucky  3 года назад

      That's a good idea! I sleep really hot in the summer so I'll try that out.

    Bekah...please please please don’t put boiling water into the hot water bottles. Boiling water can cause the seams of the water bottle to split! Be careful love....just use hot tap water. My friend burned herself severely using boiling water...
    Love your videos...the two of you have such beautiful energy together.
    Infinite Blessings, Love and Light 🙏🏻😇

      Thank you so much! I've never known of it actually having happened to someone. I usually use the water from the sink unless I'm in a lot of pain.

    This is why you need to keep the cover on your hot water bottle, at least for the first bottle of the evening. You fill the hot water bottle, tuck your jammies inside the cover and tuck the whole thing in your bed to warm your sheets. Then you can go to bed, take the cover off the bottle, slip your warm jammies on, and climb into a warm bed with a bottle just cool enough to cuddle without the cover. Simples.

      Ahhh, that's a great idea! It requires lots of planning and patience on my part, but it sounds so cozy!

    So right about the umbrella; the wind will blow it inside out. Better to use a waterproof top with a hood as you said, then you have both hands free. Also i have found a baseball cap under the hood is useful for keeping the rain out of your eyes and stopping the hood from blocking your vision when you turn your head.

    • @BritTucky
      @BritTucky  3 года назад

      Jon does the same with the baseball cap! At first it seemed strange to me to see a Brit wearing an American Red Sox hat. I have always been too fussy about my hair to wear hats, but then I learned that if it's a rainy day in England my hair is going to frizz anyway so I may as well get over it!

    I was confused, thinking you pronounced faux as fox, then realised you actually were saying fox and not saying 'faux' incorrectly. I thought I bought you a faux fur hat. Thank you for clarifying it is actually a faux fox fur hat.

    • @BritTucky
      @BritTucky  3 года назад +1

      Haha, yes. It is a faux fox fur hat, which I wear with my for-real fox fur scarf. Kate Middleton was actually criticized because her hat comes with a fox fur bobble, but she claims she had the company use a faux fox fur bobble.

    • @TheCornishCockney

      Would be great if the faux fox fur hat was made by a company called fee-fye wouldn't it.

    Be careful you do not roll over on to a hot water bottle while asleep as it is hot water and you might get scolded if it bursts!👍

    Dang it! Now I want some true wellys lol. I bought some cheap polka dot rain boots and haven't been able to use them here but tonight and tomorrow it will be raining. They sit next to the door ;) I have seen portable radiators somewhere but if you have central heating🤷🏾‍♀️...warm jammies would be awesome though. Over here you know hot water bottles were only for one thing so haven't seen them used as warming ones self😄 Nice bvlog! X

    • @BritTucky
      @BritTucky  3 года назад

      Thank you!! I do have a portable radiator at work lol! Once the heating is fixed there I'll probably bring it home. Hunter fit better than some of the cheap ones I've had. If I can find cheap ones in a size 11 they are usually too wide for my foot or they are so thin that even in socks my feet freeze. I use them for schlepping around the yard (for some reason our neighborhood is just...damp. I have 2 sump pumps and the drainage is still poor).

    Not sure your 'trench coat' is what I as an older Brit consider to be a trench coat. Think Inspector Gadget! I know styles change and I have no doubt yours is a trench coat, but mine was always knee length, belt etc. Great video, I always like seeing British life from a foreign persons point of view.
