Dear Miranda , what an incredible book selection! I would listen to your reviews for hours on end… I was really fascinated by Jane Austen’s Wardrobe: such a refined, interesting book revealing Jane’s taste in clothing…a very original way to get to know her better! I wish you and your dear Mum a lovely week
Thank you Miranda for bringing books, nature, poetry, recipes and beauty into our lives in your own lovely way. The flowers behind you are gorgeous today. The pink ones with the dark flecks and dark ones with the lighter petals are wonderful.
Love how varied your book haul is. Have made a note of everything from So Late in the Day (Small Things Like These by Claire Keegan was fantastic) to The Plain Cake Appreciation Society (Yes, please!) to Sophie Irwin (Persuasion inspired, Bath and a twist!) I'm really looking forward to reading Kate Atkinson's new collection of short stories. Hope you're having a good week.
Publishers pulling out all of the stops: as if autumn isn't magical on its own! I don't even know where to begin. These are all so tempting. I do know where I began this video: with a stern lecture to myself. No. New. Books. Poof! That resolution lasted -3 seconds. Thank you, as always, for bringing such wonderful finds to our attention. Happy autumnal equinox! 🍂 📚
Thank you so much as always, Pamela, for your amazing support! I so very much appreciate it! Haha, and I know just what you mean - the autumn book releases are always far too tempting!! Hope you're having a lovely September 🧡
A cookbook I thought you might like is: Baking for the Holidays: 50+ Treats for a Festive Season by Sarah Kieffer! The photographs in this cookbook is so beautiful, and all the recipes were so good! Your videos are so comforting! I've added so many books from your videos! Thank you! 🍂💕
I think I audibly gasped when I saw Jane Austen’s Wardrobe. I’ve just added it to the top of my Christmas wish list. 😊 It’s interesting that you mentioned reading poetry aloud. I’ve been reading your daily almanac to my husband and if it slips my mind he’s quick to remind me. It’s a lovely way to start our day together. ❤
I pre ordered Claire Keegan , recieved and read over coffee. She packs a punch and wastes no words. Marvelous. I'm with you in the plain cake arena too. Always enjoy you videos . Thank you
Goodness Miranda, the Jill pony books, I forgot all about them. I adored them as a child. Thank you for reminding me of them. Lovely haul,my TBR continues to grow. The Jane Austin is top of the list.❤️📚🍁
Thanks Miranda what a great video I love d all of the books and the cook books! I am going to watch the common place book video again! It was fantastic!
Dear Miranda, another of these wonderful videos of yours which lengthens my to buy list and my TBR. Sometimes I think I'll never be able to catch up, because there are always so many interesting books you recommend. Right now I'm also delving into Tudor times and reading a lot about that topic which I just find fascinating! I finished a Fortnight of September and want to order the other book by R.C. Sherriff published by Persephone Books. Thank you for your inspiration, I loved Good bye Mr.Chips immensely and read it while I was visiting my mother. And the funny thing is that she had read it in school (in the early sixties in Germany in her English lesson). We had never talked about it before and it let to a deeper conversation about what her curriculum was and how it had changed when I attended school. I'm really looking forward to next weeks Comfort Book Club. Have a lovely week!♥
I also hate COLD TEA!! I LOVE poetry!! Just love it. Have since I was 8/9 yrs. old. I have written quite a bit in the past. Just today a poetry book I ordered came "Longfellow Poetry AND Other Writings" . Wonderful poet. I was in his home in Cambridge, Massachusetts when I was a teen. I grew up in Lexington, Massachusetts. Have been in Louisa May Alcott's house in Concord Mass. (next to Lexington). so many times I could give the tours. Many famous authors lived in Concord. LM.Alcott is my absolute favorite author. Robert Frost my absolute favorite poet. I have a great collection of Poetry books. I really want to get "A Poem To Read Aloud Every Day". I live alone, but will read them aloud to myself. New England was the Best place to grow up! SO MUCH history stemming from England! Starting with my home town! Thank you for this viewing,so fun! Love your channel! A real joy.
Thanks! Your recommendation always encourages me to read different authors. Hope you and your mum are well. Thank you again for your thoughtful insights.
Thank you so very much for your amazingly kind support, Rebecca! I really appreciate your generosity! I'm so happy that my videos have encouraged you to try some different authors! I hope you're having a good start to the week! ❤️💐❤️
That's so kind of you, Carol! I'm so delighted you're enjoying it! Thank you again for your very kind support of my channel! I really appreciate it so much ❤️💐
What a lovely video full of nice recommendations! Claire Keegan's short story especially grabbed my attention - I'll add it to my book wish list :) And your mentioning the beetroot and blackberry soup made me add Diana Henry's cookbook on the list too :) Thank you so much, Miranda 🤗 Wishing you a quick recovery 🌺
Oh my goodness, I had forgotten all about Janet Lambert! I remember reading some of those back in the day...I'll keep my eyes open for some copies. And, I really loved it when you paused to drink some tea and expressed your strong dislike for cold tea...I feel exactly the same about it!
Hello Miranda, thank you for sharing some wonderful books. I haven’t come across The Farmer’s Wife by Helen Rebanks, but it sounds like a great recommendation. I’ve read books by her husband, Jame Rebanks, which demonstrate his love of the Lake District and his determination to create a better life for his family. I hope you are feeling better and having a good week.
The Cavendish book looks fascinating! I will have to work that into my TBR pile. My zoom book group met tonight and discussed Julia Child’s My Live in France. So I found your cookbook descriptions a nice connection.
Another great book haul. I can't add anymore books to my tbr list - it's getting ridiculous - but I enjoyed listening to you talk about them and seeing all the wonderful covers. x
I'm amazed and envious of this wonderful book haul, Miranda! I loved listening to you describe each book - I found something interesting about all of them. Like you, I really love cookbooks for the writing as well as the recipes. The Diana Henry one looks particularly good!
Thanks so much for your lovely comment! I'm a huge Diana Henry fan, Carol, and this really is a gorgeous new edition of her classic winter cookbook ❤️💐
What a lovely selection of books - thank you for sharing! I really enjoy the cooler mornings and evenings and I feel that the weather not being quite so good is a great excuse for staying in and reading! Also as always, lovely flowers behind you x
What an awesome book haul! While watching your video, I ordered Autumn Chills from Blackwell’s! Plus, added several more of your recommendations to my wish list. I’m looking forward to your next video.
Dear Miranda, I am new to your channel. I'm super excited to have found you. I love what I have watched already. In fact, I may become addicted.... Thank you so much for the terrific book selection. I look forward to reading the new Claire Keegan, she is one of my favourite authors. Hope you feel better soon. Definitely, no fun being ill. Best regards to your mother.
Hi Miranda 📚Thanks!I do enjoy the cook books you mention alas I am a horrible cook I burn toast 😉My mom was amazing in the kitchen my friends always wanted to eat at our home !!!! I borrowed from my library Year of Wonder Clemency Burton-Hill ever so grateful to you for talking about this author.Throughly enjoying the book🎶 Take care🍁🍂
Thank you for so many great book suggestions Miranda, apologies for late comment but I watched you on the television and forgot to pop back to my laptop to comment! 📚🍂🧡
Miranda a fabulous book haul. Autumn is my favorite time it’s beautiful. I never heard of these books except Agatha Christie. I’m going to try to find some of the books. I hope you and your mom go book shopping I very much enjoy your outings. Have a wonderful week. MaryAnn 😊
What an amazing bumper selection and as usual, so many that appeal. I am beginning to thing that I need a bigger house! I like the sound of The Theft of the Iron Dogs, Autumn Chills, Shadow Over the Alps, Impossible Creatures, The Stargazers and The Plain Cake Appreciation Society. I was a big fan of the 'Jill' books and will look out for A Paintbox for Pauline. I've read Goodbye Mr Chips and I am currently enjoying The Fortnight in September (it's delightful). One of the many books on my TBR pile is The People on Platform 5 (I think it's one of your recommendations) which I picked up at our village fete along with several others - just for a donation which was nice. Sorry to read in your newsletter that you have Covid, I hope you are fully recovered soon. Take care, my best to Donna and have a happy week.
Thanks so much, Karen! Yes, I did talk about The People on Platform 5 - it was a recommendation from A J Pearce when I interviewed her - how great you found a copy at your village fete! Have a good week and happy reading! ❤️
Hi Miranda - I've only recently found your channel and I'm hooked! I'm working my way back through your great videos and recommendations. I love your mixed vlogs with reviews, cooking and chats with your mum. Thank you for all the book inspiration - I now have a long list of must reads!! Like me, you like upbeat and uplifting stories on the whole - with plenty of cosy murders and mysteries thrown in too, of course - so this is the perfect channel for me! :)
I love the cover for A lady’s guide to scandal, it’s gorgeous! I definitely want the Agatha Christie short story collections. I bought a trade paperback book yesterday at B&N of some of her short stories dealing with the occult, I think it’s called The Last Seance. I haven’t heard of these short stories before so I’m anxious to pick it up. This is a wonderful collection of books and so many I want to read now too. Have a great week Miranda💕
Such a lot to digest there. Thanks, Miranda. Re Ruby Ferguson -- I know of the Jill stories but wasn't ever really a pony book reader. However, the first RF I read (years ago) was 'Apricot Sky' which is definitely one of my favourite books/comfort reads. It has everything you could want and is set in Scotland to boot. I like it much more than I liked 'Lady Rose and Mrs Memmary'. Meredith
Lots of brilliant recommendations there! I'm going to look into The Farmers Wife and So Late in the Day. Gods and Monsters looks like the perfect Christmas gift for my classics-enthusiast mum!
Gosh, all those books sound wonderful! I would love to read all of them! Because of you, I've really gotten into short stories and vintage books, so I'm particularly interested in those you recommended in this video. Thank you, Miranda! I always look forward to your videos every week. ❤️
Hi Miranda, Hope you are feeling better soon ,covid is not very nice. Hope your Mum is ok. Great book recommendations. I enjoyed the vlog. Take Care. Xx❤😊
What a fantastic list of good reads!! Thank you for the many suggestions. You have inspired me to complete my Agatha C. book series with the autumnal book suggested. I’m also looking forward to reading the Batsford poetry book. So many books, so little time to read as I would like. Thank you Miranda😊
What a great haul. Made my usual list.😊 You never disappoint, there are always interesting recommendations, so thanks again Miranda. Your vintage haul are so cool. See ya next time. 👍📚💐💕
Fabulous new books for Autumn! Giving me suggestions for new books to read. I'm not really a collector of Vintage books , but find myself looking for them evertime I'm in the Charity book shops now, so you are definitely influencing my book purchasing 😂. I love cooking but my grown up children don't live with me so no one really to cook for , as hubby is a M&S food type person 😜. Loving the Autumn Common place book, absolutely beautiful. Have just reading Goodbye Mr Chips and goodness me, an exquisitely short and poignant book, so touching. Thank you again for a lovely episode, looking forward to the Comfort Book Club next week. X
Thank you for all the recommendations Miranda! I bought the Plain Cake Appreciation Society baking book on spec and i love the look of it too! I had pre ordered Roast Figs, Sugar Snow and forgotten about it, such a treat when it arrived! I love the sound of the Farmers Wife book too. Thank you for all the wonderful detailed content! X
I love your book choices! I am very interested in the vintage children's books especially, and the title of The Seven Sapphires delighted me , because I was just talking about how publishers used to not want to publish books with jewels in the title (superstition that they would not do well) and I couldn't think of any children's book titles with jewels in it! (it was in regard to Baum first titling 'The Wizard of Oz' with the title 'The Emerald City'). Beautiful video as usual...I hope you are feeling better Miranda!🌻🍁
So many books to read - thank you Miranda for these wonderful book suggestions. Ps I just started Rosamunde Pilcher’s “September “, a previous book recommendation! 😊
Thank you Miranda , for this video I looking forward to get Jane Austen wardrobe book sometime like the sound of it like your vintage books really enjoy listening to this .
Great book haul ,have The Farmer’s Wife preordered .So Late In the Day and& Stargazers are on my pile.Reading and really enjoying 73 Dove Street .Wishing you and your mom a good week.
Hello Miranda, I just love this channel, I write notes down, I have a list of books I would like to try and explore and you have opened my eye to a whole different world from my normal reading habits. I love to dive into a story and immerse myself in another world and I am treating myself to a book when I can. I am going to rejoin my library to see if I can find some of the titles you have inspired me to read, however some might have to go on my Christmas wish list. Thank you so much, you are a delight to watch and listen to.
Hi Miranda..what an interesting autumnal book haul! I saw several books that piqued my interest. Several titles are now available at my local library, which of course is helpful with my book budget. However, I will order Autumn Chills to complete my seasonal set and I am definitely ready for some cozy autumn short stories 🍂. Bee Wilson’s book looks very interesting as well. Thank you for a many great suggestions🍁🐿️🌻
What a unique and interesting - and different - selection of books! Coincidentally, I was just reading about the ‘Farmer’s Wife’ right before I watched your video and have added it to my TBR list. I love how you included cookbooks and vintage children’s books - a woman after my own heart😊 Would love to read the ‘Farm in Mallerstang.’ Hopefully I can find a copy here in the US.
Miranda, Thank you for your wonderful suggestions ! I always research them and read many of them. Sometimes they are not available here (in California), but I keep a list to keep checking for them. I have shared your site with friends because ,of all the books review sites, yours is my favorite !! 🌸
Hi thanks for the video I bought a book you recommended called How to be a moonflower,it’s a beautiful book and I’m glad I found it.also ordered some other ghost stories you showed.❤❤
So many interesting-sounding books! I have added A Lady's Guide to Fortune Hunting and Jane Austen's Wardrobe to my TBR. I love the Regency period. Looking forward to the CBC next week!
I have also ordered Jamie Oliver’s “Five Ingredient Mediterranean” cookbook and can’t wait for it to arrive! I hadn’t heard of “Impossible Creatures” but am certain I will like it! Thank you for the introduction!
Along the lines of Lady's Guide to Scandal, I fell in love with Joanna Lowell's historical romances this year. She has 3 out, not necessarily a series, but in the same universe, if you will. All 3 have heroines in the art world (one is actually a writer - The Runaway Duchess). They don't have to be read in order. I actually read the 3rd one (Artfully Yours) first!
Hi hi! I'm really enjoying your channel so far😊. I finished reading "diary of a nobody" and I liked the story alot🤭. Unfortunately I don't live in a country that has autum as a season, but can you recommend any books I can read for persons living in hot climates? Maybe some books with a bit of comedy? Thank you!
Yay! I’m so glad to hear you ordered the "Art of the Pie"! After receiving probably hundreds of good recommendations from you - including several from this video alone - I’m so glad I could give you one. I love the fruit filling section as well, especially how she starts with a 10-page "The Long and Wordy Version" and then gives the reader "The Short Tidy Version." It makes me laugh each time I see it. Here’s a fiction recommendation you may like as well. "Beyond That, the Sea" by Laura Spence-Ash is one of my favorite -and possibly the favorite - book I’ve read in the last six months. The main character spends part of her childhood in London and part of it in Boston and Maine. It made me think of you when I read the book description. Now that I think of it, I wonder if I read it based on one of your recommendations. If that's the case, my apologies.
Thank you so much for all the work you put into these videos. I hope you are feeling better very soon. Also, I’m sorry that my meagre contribution gets exchanged from NZD to GBP, making it more paltry. 😢
Oh no really don't think like that please, Barbara! I am so grateful for your support, and really appreciate your generosity! I'm so happy you enjoy the videos ❤️💐
Hello Miranda. Thank you for your lovely videos. I have a question: Have you ever read "Sarn", by Mary Webb. I've recently got a vintage copy of it but it is translated to French from English, with beautiful colored illustrations in it...but if you did, what do you think about the novel generally? Thanks again.
I wonder why we here in North America eat more fruit pies than British people?🥧 I've noticed that British people tend to eat more savoury pies than we do.
Thank you so much, Laura! Yes, Jane Austen's Wardrobe is a gorgeous book! Wishing you a good week too! ❤️
I love just listening to you, you make me want to read more and more books. You bring joy to many, thank you.
Thank you so much 🧡📚
The artwork on the Roast Fig & Sugar Snow cookbook is just luscious 💜
Thank you Miranda for bringing books, nature, poetry, recipes and beauty into our lives in your own lovely way. The flowers behind you are gorgeous today. The pink ones with the dark flecks and dark ones with the lighter petals are wonderful.
That's lovely of you to say! Thank you so much for your support and kindness! I'm so happy you enjoyed the flowers too! ❤️💐
Thanky you Miranda X
Thank you so much, Penny, for your very generous support! I really appreciate it ❤️📚 X

It looks like a real winner! Thanks for recommending the pear one - I'll be sure to try it now! ❤️
A cookbook I thought you might like is: Baking for the Holidays: 50+ Treats for a Festive Season by Sarah Kieffer! The photographs in this cookbook is so beautiful, and all the recipes were so good!

What a fantastic list of good reads!! Thank you for the many suggestions. You have inspired me to complete my Agatha C. book series with the autumnal book suggested. I’m also looking forward to reading the Batsford poetry book. So many books, so little time to read as I would like. Thank you Miranda😊
I think the 4 Agatha Christies make such a lovely seasonal set too! You're so welcome! Glad you enjoyed the video! ❤️
What a great haul. Made my usual list.😊 You never disappoint, there are always interesting recommendations, so thanks again Miranda. Your vintage haul are so cool. See ya next time. 👍📚💐💕
Thank you, Diane! So glad you enjoyed this haul! Hope you have a fab week ahead 😊
Haha! That made me smile, Mhairi! You're very welcome - I'm so happy you enjoyed the video! ❤️
Lots of goodies there and very well presented 👏 ☕️🍁🦔🍃🐿🍂
Thanks so much 😊
Thank you for all the recommendations Miranda! X
You're so welcome, Penny! Thank you for your lovely comment. I'm loving all of those too! ❤️📚
Miranda, I just bought the same copy of Dreams of Glory!! It looks lovely. I'm excited to read it. 💕
I so love your recommendations Miranda!
That's true! I hadn't thought of that in regards to childrens' books before! How interesting! Glad this one cropped up anyway! ❤️😊
So many books to read - thank you Miranda for these wonderful book suggestions. Ps I just started Rosamunde Pilcher’s “September “, a previous book recommendation! 😊
I hope you enjoy it too!
Thank you Miranda , for this video I looking forward to get Jane Austen wardrobe book sometime like the sound of it like your vintage books really enjoy listening to this .
You're so welcome, Grace! I'm so glad you enjoyed watching it ❤️
I'm about 100 pages in to The Fraud by Zadie Smith and I'm loving it. I keep thinking about it during the day, which is always a good sign.
She's such a good writer!
So many wonderful recommendations there. I’m so looking forward to the cosy reading season now ❤

The Farmer’s Wife is on my Christmas list! It was featured in a magazine I love.
I'm enjoying it very much. There's such a lovely sense of place! ❤️
I'm so happy you enjoy the videos, Jackie! ❤️
You're so welcome, Glenda! I'm glad you enjoyed the video and found it helpful! ❤️
You are so welcome!
I love Kate Atkinson. I didnt know she has a book of short stories out. Im trying to stop buying books but I cant resist a Kate Atkinson.😊
Me too!

Thank you so much! ❤️
So many interesting-sounding books! I have added A Lady's Guide to Fortune Hunting and Jane Austen's Wardrobe to my TBR. I love the Regency period. Looking forward to the CBC next week!
Those are such fun choices! 📚 ❤️
Lovely cosy book recommendations miranda thank you and i hope you are feeling better 😊
Glad you enjoyed them! Thanks for your well wishes! ❤️
I have also ordered Jamie Oliver’s “Five Ingredient Mediterranean” cookbook and can’t wait for it to arrive! I hadn’t heard of “Impossible Creatures” but am certain I will like it! Thank you for the introduction!
Wonderful! Hope you enjoy it too. I’ve read a little more of Impossible Creatures & am so enjoying it!
Tak!
Thank you so much for your kind support! I really appreciate it, Joan! ❤️💐
I am half way through The Fraud by Zadie Smith and it is a really fascinating read as you predicted. 🎉 it is also a real page turner
Oh super! Looking forward to it 😊
Along the lines of Lady's Guide to Scandal, I fell in love with Joanna Lowell's historical romances this year.
Thank you!
Thank you! If you check out my 'Seasonal Reading' playlist, then you'll see a lot of summer / warm weather reading recommendations 💛
@@MirandaMills thank you so so much I will definitely look at more of those videos ❤ sending love to you from Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹
Thanks!
Thank you so much for your kind support, Linda! I really appreciate it. Have a lovely start to the week ❤️
Thanks
Thanks so much for your kind support! I really appreciate it so much! ❤️
It's a gorgeous cookbook so thank you so much! I don't know the Laura Spence-Ash one, but will defiinitely look out for it now! Thank you so much! ❤️

Hello Miranda tfs your wonderful Autumn 🍂 books 📚 to read 🍁 . . enjoy your day/evening take care ❤️🙋♀️🥰🌺🌼💐🌻🪻⚘️
Many thanks, Ida! ❤️
No, I'm afraid I've never read one of Mary Webb books so can't comment on that one.
I wonder why we here in North America eat more fruit pies than British people?🥧 I've noticed that British people tend to eat more savoury pies than we do.
I don’t know! The British are definitely missing out!!!
New Cozy Lady Autumn Content just dropped. I WILL TRY to read Agatha Christie’s ‘Halloween Party’ this year. I’ve been meaning to read it for a while.
It's a good one! And very Halloween appropriate!
❤
Tak!
Thank you so much, Joan! I really appreciate your generous support ❤️
