The 24/7 cotton is va very interesting yarn. At first it felt like…hmmm..wax paper, but as you work with it something happens and it becomes softer. I imagine after washing it is even better. It does hold a shape well and has nice stitch definition. I went from hating it (at the start of a cardigan) , to thinking it would be great for Spring and Summer clothing. Thank you for this great top.
I love this! It is really stretching my abilities of crocheting. So im going to have to practice the stitches before actually doing it. But, i think im up for it. Thank you fir showing this
I realise that I can adapt this pattern in a standard way: create the bottom ribbing to fit around wherever I want the top to go down to; make the front; ditto make the back; make sleeves using your sleeve stitch numbers for the Inside-Out Sweater and this stitch pattern as long as I want the sleeves to be. Wow ! - a delightful summer sweater ! :D
Thank you for this lovely top, I have to make it. At first I thought you worked the body first, that became confusing. Then I watched it again and at 1:10 of the video you explained what you would be doing. Sometimes I kind of skip the beginning.....not a good idea. The pattern is truly beautiful
😃 great idea! You have made me have the courage to make your beautiful design!!! This is exactly the sweater I am looking for! Thank you Krista! You are amazing!
I think you explained this very well. I love this design and will make this for sure. Not sure how people are getting confused but maybe they need to watch basic crochet and get good at that before doing a project like this. That's what I did. Lots of practice! Great job!
Unfortunately, that yarn was so hard on my fingers I couldn't even get through making one placemat. But your pattern is wonderful, and can't wait to make a top with a much softer yarn. Thank You!!
I am making this top now, it is very hard to understand what you are doing for a beginner. It is such a pretty top, it would have been better to explain it by showing each step on a finnished top. I understand it now, but it took some time. This is how I understand it. First you make the ribbing by working as many rows as needet to fit half around your body. Then you pick up dc- sts along one long edge . On the next row, (row 2) you start the stitch pattern you showed us. You repeat row 2 up to the shoulder, then work a second piece the same way. Then in 13:20 of your video you said to sew the sides, I think you meant the shouder seams. After the shoulder seams are done you pick up stitches for the sleeve cup, using the ribbing pattern and work as many rows as needed to get half the width of your bottom ribbing. Then sew both side seams including the sleeve ribbing. This is how I finely under stood it. It is a simple pattern stitch, but it needs to be shown differently for beginners.
I think that it may be an idea in the written pattern to start off with a specific chain size. It took me a few minutes wondering how you got from a chain of 21 on row 1 and 2 to suddenly 63, 71 etc without any increases. So it would be helpful to explain that the chain of 21 was for a swatch to show the pattern.
I’m making this top right now. Please explain the arm cuff section in better detail. The pattern itself doesn’t talk about laying the pieces facing each other to attach the arm cuffs. Also how many arm cuffs should we make? I’m so close to being done with my top. Excited to see it finished
Victoria Love I’m so sorry the thumbnail wasn’t enough. I have several photos on my blog showcasing the top: yarnhookneedles.com/crochet-top/ Hope this helps! Thanks so much for stopping by ☺️
I love your pattern, what size is this please. I would like to do medium size for my sister in law birthday. Thank for taking your time explaining how to crochet 5his summer top
My local Joanne's had very few cotton yarn choices , I picked up some lily sugar & cream in Teal. I got ten skeins of 4oz/113 g will this be enough for the XL size of the pattern. If not how many skeins do I need ? thanks
HI I love your videos and the way you teach us the pattern , i love the summer top But PLEASE i need it in a 1x how would i do this . i hope you can help me with this ? PLEASE AND THANK YOU . Please be safe from covide 19 God be with you and your family love from Southern Ontario Canada
Peggy Collier hi Peggy! I’m sorry this tutorial wasn’t helpful. Likely the reason a lot of us don’t make full beginning to end tutorials is because it would take several hours of making and then editing hours on top of that. I’ve been discussing with my team of putting together a full CAL (crochet-a-long) for the Fall season of one of my new pieces. Would you be interested in something like that?
Right? These are frustrating an frankly not helpful. Why waste time making a video like this when plenty of Crochet Bloggers and You Tubers DO make full garment construction videos that are helpful. Sample videos just add to the confusion
Peggy Collier right if you can’t make a full crochet video, don’t do it at all then. I don’t wanna hear why y’all couldn’t or could do what y’all did. Don’t make a beginners video at all if you cannot do it 🗣 confuses folks and this is more like click bait to me!
Hi! I'm a beginner crocheter and I am definetly going to try this! Your tutorial is so clear, thank you! =) Will 700 yards approx. be enough? I would probably need a small ish size.. maybe a medium?
@@variedadesAdriana correct. The sleeve is just the faux ribbing. You’ll notice a slight overhang from the front and back panels but the ribbing allows for a more fitted look.
Hello I love the sweater I would like to crochet one in my size I went to your blog it showed all the sizes but it doesn’t say how to start it up according to size can you please help I want to make a large
Claudia Mancillas hi! If you look at the pattern section it says the sizes are placed in the pattern like this: XS ( S, M, L, XL). You’ll want to follow the numbers which are placed in your desired size spot. Hope that helps!
b maybe I know what you mean! I’m the same way! If you decide to make a medium which is what I’m wearing in the photo, simply use the yarn count in the written pattern on the blog. If you want to go large, you’ll add on another ball or so. The LB mercerized cotton skeins have a lot of product in them. They’re deceivingly large in quantity!
@@Yarnhookneedles This is a great video! I've just started crocheting and have picked up some basic stitches, and could follow along just fine. You do mention that you're making swatches at the start, and it's really just two big squares that are getting made up. I haven't even checked your full-length video, and I'm able to work out myself how big to make it (granted there have been a few times that I've had to start over!). Thanks for the video. It's a beautiful pattern. :)
So sorry it wasn’t helpful. 😔 The idea for sewing on the cuffs is similar to an actual sewing pattern. Everything is attached inside out and then flipped to display correctly. Updated videos of ALL yarnhookneedles designs are currently in the works!
It was at first confusing for me too. I watched it again and she explained it very well at about this 1:10 (timing of the video ). She workes the bottom Ribbing first, the 21 chains is the width of the Ribbing. You work as many Rows as are needet to fit halfway around your waist. The body is then worked along one long side of the Ribbing.
She is using a 5 mm hook. Click show more up above and click on the link for the yarnhookneedles and it will take you to her website where you can find the pattern. Hope this helps

Instead of making a separate arm band, could a person do a fpdc/bpdc on both arm and waist?
