Kind of gives me chills once you passed the border into Russia, especially given the current world situation. Has anything changed there this past year with the war going on? I had enough anxiety going from Michigan into Ontario, so can't imagine what these guys would do when they saw my US passport. Perhaps they'd just deny me entry and tell me go back to Finland. I think, in better times, Russia would be an interesting place to visit. Definitely on the "do not travel" list these days.
you need a visa anyways, so i doubt youd have any problems if youve already acquired it. Has anything changed there? well yeah people stopped going over there for cheap tobacco and people from russia stopped coming here after the regulations hit place since they no longer can come here unless its family/property reasons. its still pretty quiet there. nothing special to be honest.
They would take your US passport and the look for your entry visa into the Russian Federation. If you don't have that, you can't be admitted into the RF. They will tell you to turn around and go back to Finland. Thousands of Americans travel to and from the RF every year. As long as they're not smuggling marijuana vape pens or worse things, they pass unhindered. Don't be that women's basketball league transgender who thought Russia's law somehow magically didn't apply to him/her.
I live in the island of Java, Indonesia. I never cross any country border. However, crossing provincial or kabupaten (county) border still thrills me, especially when the crossings are in secluded and less traveled roads.
leningradskaya oblast. i haven't yet visited the region of east prussia. lew kopelew has written about it in his book "keep forever". it was in german language in the school library. later i have read a few pages of martin bergau's "death march" an author who witnessed the cruel acts of ww2
I'm an old flock, charter Cold War Warrior, who in the information age is taking stock again, and seeing people and places are not so strange and foreign.
We have that signs since USSR. But it is not known why they left an inscription in English. Yes, also we have signs that have the word "STOP" in Russian, but they only indicate the place of the stop at the intersection and are placed next to the stop line and looks like white rectangle.
1:25. On the right hand side of the road there's a red and green pole and a blue and white pole. The border is located half way between these two poles, where the smaller white pole is.
4:04 funny how duty free is just spelled duti fri in Russian
"Дьюти фри"

3:18 So odd seeing that Stop sign in English within Russian territory.

the stop sign is actually international, just sometimes in different languages.
Is the equipment after 3:55 a radioactivity detector?
It's an X-ray scanner.
Quiet opposite, radioactivity emmiter
What is this document chek?
Carelia belongs to Finland, although the Russians stole it, like they always do.
it does not belong to Finland, it was traded for peace. good trade it was if you look at it from 2000+.

European version of North / South Korea border
It doesn't make sense at all to compare one of the best cities in Europe, Saint Petersburg, to North Korea.
Do you know if this border can be crossed by bike?
sorry don't know, ask both border crossing offices or refer to the regulations of both countries
Thanks, I was thinking about this as an option, but finally decided to bike from Latvia instead. Thanks for the quick reply!

Where is the border? Right after the blue house?

@@matthewguy8059 So that means you can drive to the poles and claim you have been inside Russia, then turn around quickly.
@@bardo0007 maybe but it would be very suspicious
Interesting!
very nice
Looks like a fantasy to me
Is there any police check post? Or is this safe to go by bike?
It would also depend on if bike travel is permitted on that kind of road.

two countries-same scenery ! borders are made by man-not the creator !
only difference is that you can feel the road get noticeably worse on the Russian side.
Also the same scenery with Sweden and Norway.
Invasions, tanks, missiles and war crimes are also made by man, i think we will have to beef up our borders with russia intil this mess is over.
Is it open now?
