If Russia is such a great country, why are asylum seekers leaving there to go to the EU (and we are not talking about the ones driven to the border with Finland). most countries have an agreement that an asylum seekers MUST seek asylum at the first safe haven they arrive at, not cherry picking their destination. REAL asylum seekers would be happy and relieved to arrive in a safe country, whether it was Russia, China, UAE or even some countries in Africa. Beggars cant be choosers!

Unlike the European Union, Russia does not pay benefits to refugees. They will have to work in Russia in order not to die of hunger. In Europe, refugees do not have to work, so they do not want to stay in Russia, but want to join the European Union.

Easy. Russia doesn’t give freebies to “asylum seekers”. If you are foreigner in Russia, either you contribute, or you are forced to leave. As opposed to the EU, UK, and US, where you are given an apartment, food stamps, free healthcare, and free education. On top of that, these migrants don’t have to assimilate. They can continue their honor killings, cousin marriages, and female genital mutilation, as they please. Heck, they can become the majority in certain areas and start running the place with their rules.
Btw, Russia isn’t the only country like that. Thailand, Japan, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore are similar in that regard.
So if I were a migrant who is looking for free sh*t, I might use Russia as a transit point, but I definitely wouldn’t want to settle there.

What that woman gets wrong about these asylum seekers is that they didn’t come looking for asylum, they were RECRUITED in their own countries and encouraged to seek asylum in Finland. That is NOT what the asylum laws are for. Also what I don’t understand is why they should be allowed to seek asylum in the EU in the first place. Asylum is a wonderful thing for people who are innocent but their country and their safety are in great danger. BUT the minute they arrived in Russia, they were already removed from the dangerous situation so there is no humanitarian reason for them to enter any other country. Russia is where they need asylum to seek asylum. The Asylum laws were not meant to be some kind of cafeteria where they say I want this country, No, I don’t want that country. Russia has a dire need for workers right now with the lowest unemployment in Europe so tif they bring them, they keep them and put them to work!
