  • It’s been a couple years since I’ve spent time in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest though for this weekend the goal was simple, get the kayak out on the water and find a relaxing camp. The weather was certainly a factor on this trip with heavy rain overnight but also a stunning sunset overlooking a lake and Mount Adams. Ride along on this quick weekend adventure retracing previously explored trails while embracing new opportunities!

    Another great video. My favorite sound is light rainfall on the tent.
    Your new jeep looks awesome cruising in the national forest.

      Thank you very much! Couldn't agree more, falling asleep to rain is one of the best. Good thing we get plenty of opportunities here in the Pacific Northwest... 😆 😉

      @@ConquestOverland Yezzir, thank you first. Going over by Forks around the Sitkum Soleduck trails. Making a 3 day weekend out of it. I was gonna go up by Lake Diablo however the fire in the area changed my plans. Cheers!

    We moved to Vancouver, WA from Alaska last year. We spent a night camping in this national forest a couple of months ago, and it was beautiful. The southern end of this forest is only about 45 minutes to an hour away, so I'll have to get out there and explore the area more. 😊

      Right on! Glad to hear you guys got out and explored the area! Gifford has a lot to offer and if you visit during the offseason of fall or early winter, you almost have the place to yourself.
      Thank you for watching and the support, means a lot!

      Right on! How you liking your 4xe?
      I’m running the Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws, they are a great year round tire and I hardly noticed any difference in mileage! The stock tires were okay but didn’t feel the sidewall would be strong enough offroad when aired downed so I didn’t risk it 😉👍

    I’m pretty sure I was sitting at a light next to you this morning on my way to work, in a city that starts with K. Not sure if you noticed the black diesel bmw x5 with AT’s and a hitch mounted wheel carrier as you crept up to the light, but that was me!

      Love the videos, we have extremely similar weekend pastimes. I moved here in January, and spent the spring and summer breaking trails all through the snoqualmie NF north of ranier. See you around, you’ll get a wave next time!

    • @ConquestOverland
      @ConquestOverland  11 месяцев назад

      Thank you! They are a perfect platform for those needing an all-in-one daily commuter and weekend warrior. Interior room has been a little of a challenge though everyone's needs will be different. I simply lay the rear seats down which give additional storage capability for cargo cases, fridge, fireplace, 5 gal. propane tank, table, chairs, personal bag, camera bag, etc. It's a little tight with the roof being taken up by the RTT though if you decided to use a roof cargo box like Thule or Yakima, you should have plenty of room even with a small family.

  • @mattadamsphotography

    Finding a spot was incredibly difficult because you keep putting these places on blast. You can make videos without talking about locations, my friend. I do love you content and hope you don’t take this personally, but as someone who also lives in the area and has seen the impact of social media on areas I love, felt compelled to give you some feedback.

    • @ConquestOverland
      @ConquestOverland  11 месяцев назад +7

      As someone who advocates for this topic constantly, folks are going to get out and explore regardless. The difference is those who provide exact coordinates, especially those who profit from doing so.
      If you’ve been watching the channel long enough you’ll find that I’ve done neither leaving the exploration of such locations as part of the adventure (read the “where is this” comments in literally any video of mine).
      Reason it was busy is because it’s peak summer season and easy accessibility to the numerous campgrounds. I’ve been here in the rainy months only to find no one around.
      In all honesty, I’m the least of the problem compared to most you probably follow on social media… 🤷‍♂️
      Thanks for watching though and the continued support!

      @@ConquestOverland Fair enough. You see it one way, I see it another. Debate is healthy and these are good questions we should all be asking ourselves. I still feel like even naming the forest or specific towns is enough to make an impact. Between the increased human caused fires and trash issues I've seen from the uptick in casual people who aren't aware or don't care as much about these areas or their own impact, I feel like it's worth speaking out more on this topic among the youtube/social media community (not even just overland RUclipsrs). Maybe I'm being unreasonable, I don't know. But I see the impact and think this is worthy of conversation in this community. I would still watch and enjoy your videos all the same if you never mentioned a single location. I appreciate the response brother. Thanks for the content and inspiration.
